E. Enos Wilson, 92

Colorado native Enos Wilson died at his home in Loma at the age of 92.
Wilson was born in Evergreen to Curtis S. Wilson and Mary Maud (Hicks) Wilson.
Raised on the Wilson Dairy, he attended the Hodson School on North Turkey Creek.
He married Edna Theresia Fields of Conifer in 1936.
They had six children.
Wilson served in the Navy during World War II.

Elaine Miller
Aug. 18, 1923 – Dec. 3, 2011

Elaine Miller, 88, has gone to be with the Lord. She was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Rock Island, Ill., to John and Agnes Foley.
She died peacefully, with loved ones at her side, on Dec. 3.
She attended Rock Island High School and graduated in 1945 from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, with a degree in drama.
In 1948, Elaine married Charles T. Miller.
They raised four children in their hometown, and throughout their lives they enjoyed camping and traveling across the country as a family.

Erin Marie Priest

Erin Marie Priest passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, in Greeley.
She was born in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 16, 1983, to Barry and Sally Priest.
Erin attended Marshdale Elementary School, West Jefferson Middle School and Conifer High School, where she graduated in 2002.
She attended the University of Wyoming and Artistic Beauty School, where she received her cosmetology license.
She later graduated from Heritage College of Denver.

Leland Vance

Longtime Evergreen resident Leland Vance, 82, passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 20, 2011, at St. Anthony Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Horan and McConaty Family Mortuary on Wadsworth Avenue between Jewell and Hampden.
A luncheon reception at the same location will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Arrangements for inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full military honors are still pending.

Rhoda Mae Jenison

Rhoda Mae Jenison, 85, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Evergreen, died on Nov. 20, 2011.
She was the daughter of Reed and Beulah Crooks, and the wife of late husbands William C. Roberts and Daniel Jenison.
She is survived by daughter Robyn Roberts, son Ken Roberts and daughter-in-law Becky Roberts-Grondin.
A memorial celebration is being held on Nov. 23 at John Knox Village in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Brian Hughes, 66

Brian Malcolm Hughes, 66, died Nov. 7, 2011, in Lakewood.
He lived in Evergreen.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Englewood Elks Lodge.
Brian was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Scotland, to Alec Robert Hughes and Ishbel Graham Hughes.
He grew up playing the bagpipes.
He served 16 years in the British army and reached the rank of sergeant major.
He moved to Colorado in 1978 and spent his years here working as an electrician and as a pipe major in several bagpipe bands.

Lois Dean Julius

Lois Dean Julius, 87, of Payson, Ariz., died in Payson on April 14, 2008 from complications of a stroke.
She had lived in Payson for the last 10 years and in Roosevelt, Ariz., since 1970.
She was born in Granite City, Ill., on May 26, 1920, to Marion Jasper Burnett and Maude Jane Abbett Burnett.
She grew up in Denver and graduated from Manual High School.
She was married in 1941 to Paul John Leonard of New Mexico, who was a member of the Doolittle Raid in 1942.
They had a boy, James Paul Leonard, in 1942.
Paul Leonard died in Algeria in 1943 after the raid and never saw his son.

Maryanna Meyer Ware

Maryanna Meyer Ware, known to her friends and family as “Monk,” was a resident of Evergreen since 1961.
She and her husband, Tom, lived on Evergreen Lake, raised their daughters Catey and Laura here, and have been vital contributors to the community over the past 47 years.
Maryanna passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, after an amazing life.
Her family and friends have been an integral, significant part of her life.

Joyce Eileene Crow

Joyce Eileene Crow of Dumont passed away Oct. 20, 2010.
Joyce was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Cozad, Neb., to Mildred and Ray Wagner.
She graduated from Idaho Springs High School in 1951.
She and her husband moved to Englewood in 1969.
She loved cooking and baking.
She retired from Albertsons grocery store.
She returned from Dumont in 1999 due to illness and was cared for by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Ray Wagner; and her husband, Lester.
She is survived by her two sisters, Marianne Bohannon and Bonnie Hunt of Dumont; and three nephews, Father Doug Hunt of Ignacio and Dan and Devan Hunt of Dumont.
She will be missed by her family and friends.

Harley “Bill” Edwin Lucas

Harley “Bill” Edwin Lucas of Idaho Springs, recently of Morrison, passed away on Oct. 25, 2010. He was 86.
Harley was born and graduated from high school in Denver.
He served in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge.
Harley worked for many years on the railroads as a railroad engineer, and he retired from the Denver Rio Grande.
Harley has family scattered throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaRatta LaVone, who died on Oct. 31, 1982, and his second wife, Ruth Ellen, who died on Nov. 7, 1999.
Visitation was on Nov. 1, followed by a service at Zion Lutheran Church in Idaho Springs.
Officiating was the Rev. Don Marxhaussen.
Immediately following the service, there was a graveside interment at the Idaho Springs Cemetery and reception at the church.
Donations may be made in Harley’s name to Zion Lutheran Church, 1921 Virginia St., Idaho Springs, CO 80452, or The Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741-5000.

Ted R. Smith

Ted R. Smith was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Omaha, Neb., and died Oct. 31, 2010, in Idaho Springs.
He and his family had a cabin home in Idaho Springs since 1975 and made it their permanent residence for the past 13 years.
Prior to that, Ted and his family lived in Bismarck, N.D., for 30 years.
There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at St. Paul’s Church in Idaho Springs. A reception will follow in the church hall. The Rev. Michael Kerrigan will conduct the service. Ted’s burial service will be on a nice spring day in Omaha.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Loaves and Fishes, 545 Chicago Creek Road, Idaho Springs, CO 80452, or Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District, 1130 Idaho St., Idaho Springs, CO 80452.
