MARY JUNE FULLER

Mrs. Fuller, 76, died Jan. 3, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a trust officer for Exchange National Bank in Colorado Springs for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Fuller was born June 11, 1923, in Morristown, Tenn., to Thomas and Mary Florence Smith, who are deceased.

She is survived by two sons, Gary and Richard; a brother, Tom Smith; a sister, Dorothy Langhofer; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Service, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

GEORGE E. THOMAS

Mr. Thomas, 74, died Dec. 25, 1999, in Colorado Springs. He served in the Navy for 26 years, including service in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as chief engineer at Bectal Power Co. and then at Command Science power plant.

Mr. Thomas was born June 2, 1925, in Queen City, Mo. He was married Sept. 13, 1953, to Jacqueline Fritz.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert; a daughter, Sandra Bobe; a brother, Luther; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Riverside, Calif. Burial, with military honors, will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside. Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303, is handling local arrangements.

MARILLA GARRETT

Mrs. Garrett, 84, a former longtime Colorado Springs resident, died Jan. 1, 2000, in Battle Mountain, Nev.

Mrs. Garrett was born April 12, 1915, in Decatur, Ark. She was married Aug. 28, 1930, to Earl D. Garrett, who is deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Jean Garrett Brandt; a brother, John Nelson Smith; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., 634-8831. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Blunt Mortuary.

DR. ARTHUR J. CASEY

Dr. Casey, 96, died Jan. 3, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He was a dentist for 53 years in Iowa.

Dr. Casey was born Jan. 18, 1903, in Clarion, Iowa. He was married June 5, 1939, to Dora Nykvist.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judith A. Casey and Jean Casey Welch; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Sac City, Iowa, at a later date. Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sac City. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling local arrangements.

GERALD ELMER EWING

Mr. Ewing, 70, died Jan. 2, 2000, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was an installer for AT&T; Technologies and served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946.

Mr. Ewing was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Colorado Springs. He was married Jan. 22, 1954, to Wilma Davis. He is survived by his wife; a son, David William; a daughter, Katherine L.; a brother, Charles William; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1201 Leta Drive, Security. Colorado Springs Mortuary and Cremation Services, 3475 Astrozon Court, 392-4144, is handling arrangements.

JAMES ALLEN SKIBA

Mr. Skiba, 51, died Dec. 21, 1999, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was an automobile mechanic.

Mr. Skiba was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Hartford, Conn.

He is survived by his companion, Melinda; a daughter, Natica; a brother, Billy; and four sisters, Karen, Susan, Gail and Lenore.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 218 Ruxton Ave., Manitou Springs. Inurnment will be private. Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., 634-8831, is handling arrangements.

HERMINE STROBEL

Mrs. Strobel, 71, died Jan. 3, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Strobel was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Germany. She was married to Austin "Happy" Strobel, who is deceased.

She is survived by a son, Robert A.; a daughter, Loraine H. Moffett; a brother; a sister; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, 6630 S. U.S. Highway 85/87, Fountain, 390-4906. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

BERLIN J. HARPIN

Mr. Harpin, 84, a Woodland Park resident, died Dec. 20, 1999, at a local hospital. He worked in construction.

Mr. Harpin was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Union County, Iowa. He was married Nov. 28, 1941, to Anita Abell, who is deceased.

He is survived by a son, Dennis; three brothers, Robert, Norris and Lendall; a sister, Moadelyn Looney; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services were held in Creston, Iowa. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery, Creston. Mountain Memorial, 51 County Road 5, Divide, 687-0333, handled local arrangements.

JULIA M. LONGLEY

Miss Longley, 87, died Dec. 31, 1999, in Cripple Creek. She was an editor and writer for civil service.

Miss Longley was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Pond Creek, Okla.

She is survived by a sister, Ann Hamman.

Services will be held at a later date. Mountain Memorial, 51 County Road 5, Divide, 687-0333, is handling cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.

KATHRYN ANN HEYSE MUSCH

Ms. Musch, 53, died Jan 3, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a registered nurse.

Ms. Musch was born Dec. 3, 1946, in Colorado Springs, to Harold S. and Frances R. (Carbis) Heyse, who are deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Krystine; and a sister, Linda Heyse Gorham.

A memorial service will be at noon Friday at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. A private inurnment will be at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. HUGH CARL WATSON

Mr. Watson, 67, died Jan. 1, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He was owner of Books-n-More Bookstore and Quality Delivery and Moving, both in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Watson was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Norfolk, Va., to Julius and Mabel (Priest) Watson, who are deceased. He was married Feb. 14, 1976, to Marilyn E. Blauw.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Raymond Watson, Richard Fette, Robert Fette and Julius Watson; three daughters, Kathy Maximenko, Sherry McHale and Evelyn Alexander; two brothers, Ellis and Alton; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Springs First Church of the Nazarene, McQueen Chapel, 4120 E. Fountain Blvd. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Service, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

SISTER M. GORGONIA BEIERMAN, O.S.F.

Sister M. Gorgonia Beierman, 85, died Jan. 4, 2000, at a local care center. She was a teacher and librarian for 58 years.

Sister M. Gorgonia Beierman was born June 28, 1914, in Lindsay, Neb., to Charles and Helen (Sueper) Beierman, who are deceased.

She is survived by two brothers, Aloys and Alfred; and a sister, Coletta Wemhoff.

A wake will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at Mount St. Francis Sister's Chapel, 7665 Assisi Heights. A Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2650 Parish View. Burial will be at Mount St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

CHARLES M. ALLEN, 83, a federal judge who issued some of Kentucky's most important civil rights and constitutional decisions, died Tuesday in Louisville

He consistently struck down state laws limiting women's right to abortion. He also ordered the Jefferson County Jail to release inmates to ease crowding after finding the population exceeded acceptable limits.

In 1987, Allen approved a $3.5 million settlement that ended years of litigation against the city of Louisville by black applicants who said they were discriminated against when they sought jobs as police officers. In 1982, he ordered Jefferson County school officials to allow black activist Angela Davis to speak at one school. He then ordered them to allow the Ku Klux Klan to rally at another school.
