MARGARET PAULINE "POLLY" BRIGHT

Mrs. Bright, 75, a Divide resident, died Oct. 14, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bright was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Wyandotte, Okla., to William A. and Josephine (Wolfenbarger) Simpson, who are deceased. She was married Feb. 3, 1948, to Clifford Bright.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Charles C.; three daughters, Betty Jane Schartz, JoAnn Stukey and Patricia Scheer; two brothers, George Simpson and Bill Simpson; two sisters, Katherine King and Mary Gallaspy; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Schartz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Little Chapel of the Hills, 69 County Road 5, Divide. After the service, a reception will be at the Divide Community Center, Divide. Burial will be at Divide Cemetery, Divide.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Shrine Hospital for Children and Burn Center, 815 Market St., Galveston, Texas 77550.

MARY ELIZABETH DURAN

Mrs. Duran, 68, died Oct. 16, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Duran was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Santa Clara, Calif., to Bud and Maxine Hall, who are deceased. She was married to Chile Duran, who is deceased.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Gumucio and Greg Gumucio; three daughters, Lisa Gumucio, Katite Gumucio and Debbie Johnsen; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a twin sister.

No local services are planned. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Service, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's Cancer Center, Attn: Melissa Brown, 1245 E. Colfax Ave., Suite 400, Denver 80218.

CHERYL CHANCE

Ms. Chance, 49, died Oct. 14, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a dispatcher for Transit Mix Concrete Co.

Ms. Chance was born Feb. 23, 1951, in Houston.

She is survived by a daughter, Erica Clark; a son-in-law, Dan Clark; her best friend and care giver, Jan Carlson; and a granddaughter, Sidney Joy Clark.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Worship Center, 505 Castle Road. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangement.

PERCY W. DANIEL

Mr. Daniel, 61, died Oct. 11, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He worked for Loomis Fargo as a guard. He worked previously at C&D; Bonding Service for 18 years. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1981 and in World War II.

Mr. Daniel was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Cunningham, Tenn., to Sylvester and Ophelia Lyle Daniel, who are deceased. He was married April 21, 1962, to Gaynell Harris.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Gary Winston Daniel, David Buckner, Larry Buckner and Branio Buckner; two daughters, Gloria Ann Wood and Shawander Devone Daniel; his companion for the past 36 years, Leona Buckner; four brothers, Walter, Joseph, Frederick and Clifford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Funeral Home "Chapel of Peace." Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3896 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

JULIA HELEN (DOUGLAS) HANSEN

Mrs. Hansen, 100, died Sept. 28, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a housewife and homemaker.

Mrs. Hansen was born Aug. 12, 1900, in Durango to Stephen and Kathryn (Boddwin) Steger, who are deceased. She was married Dec. 3, 1923, to George Douglas, who is deceased. She was then married in 1969 to Fogh Hansen, who is deceased.

She is survived by a son, George Douglas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairmount Mausoleum, 430 S. Quebec, Denver. Inurnment will be at Fairmount Mausoleum. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Judy Hansen Memorial in care of St. Francis Nursing Center, 7550 Assisi Heights, Colorado Springs 80919.

CLARENCE W. STOUT

Mr. Stout, 90, died Oct. 14, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He was a retired shop owner. He served as lieutenant colonel in the Army for five years.

Mr. Stout was born May 5, 1910, in Husted to Samuel and Jessie (Doughty) Stout, who are deceased.

He is survived by a son, Robert; a daughter, Kay Long; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel W.; and a sister, Marjorie Ardery.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

HOYLE R. SHORT

Mr. Short, 90, died Oct. 14, 2000, at a local care center. He owned Hoyle's Meats for 30 years. He worked during his retirement years at Reilly Buick.

Mr. Short was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Arkansas to Isaac and Annie Looney Short, who are deceased. He was married April 28, 1933, to Irene Hague, who is deceased.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol J. Rieves; two sisters, Jean Wade and Doyce Hales; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. After the service, a reception will be at Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deacon's Fund, First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs 80903.

VELMA LEE "WILMA" SAWYER

Velma, 95, died Oct. 10, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a medical secretary.

Velma was born Aug. 13, 1905, in Port, Okla., to Frank A. Mosher and Matilda L. Johnson, who are deceased.

She is survived by a son, Frank; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be at a later date. Burial will be at Luckwood Cemetery, Cordell, Okla. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling local arrangements.

GARDIE BRECKENRIDGE

Mrs. Breckenridge died Oct. 12, 2000, at a local care center. She was a homemaker and caterer.

Mrs. Breckenridge was born in Athens, Ga., to Gardner and Ora (Upshaw) Brown, who are deceased.

She was married to Dr. Eugene Breckenridge, who is deceased.

She is survived by a niece, Pauline (Brown) Bell; and a nephew, Isaac Moore.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Brown and Jerry Brown; and four sisters, Katie Moore, Gabrella Brown, Anna Mae Brown and Theresa Brown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

FRANK E. SAYERS

Mr. Sayers, 80, died Oct. 13, 2000, at a local care center, as a result of cancer. He was retired from civil service after 30 years of service and was a real estate agent for 20 years.

He also served in the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II for two years.

Mr. Sayers was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Fredrick Sayers and Marie Dugan, who are deceased.

He is survived by two sons, Martin and John; three daughters, Lori Pinello, Rosie O'Connel and Beth Doweidt; a sister, Rose Duffy; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave.

VIRGINIA WHITE ALLEN

Mrs. Allen, 84, died Oct. 13, 2000, at a local care center. She was a homemaker and teacher.

Mrs. Allen was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Mooresville, N.C., to John P . and Lucy (Armour) White, who are deceased. She was married June 14, 1939, to Col. Raymond W. Allen Jr., who is deceased.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Schleher and Barby Allen Schlabs; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert M. White; and a sister, Louise A. Watt.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St. Inurnment will be private. Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deacons Fund of the First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs 80903.

LINDA L. ROGERS

Mrs. Rogers, 50, died Oct. 6, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Rogers was born Aug. 3, 1950, in Denver to Gary and Marge (Green) Neie. Her father is deceased. She was married May 9, 1968, to Randal Rogers.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Eric and Kevin; a daughter, Kimberly; her mother, Marge Snyder; two brothers, Rick Long and Mont Long; and two sisters, Coletta O'Neil and Kay Albro.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2750 Melissa Drive.
