Beulah Fletcher - - 1904 - 2004

Beulah R. Fletcher of Paonia died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004. She was 99.

A graveside funeral service was held on July 24 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia. A funeral service was held on July 24 at Paonia Christian Fellowship Church in Paonia.

Mrs. Fletcher was born on Oct. 5, 1904, in Pryor, Okla., to Grover and Bessie Martin. When she was a small child, she and her family homesteaded near Moriarity, N.M. When she was a teenager her father died and she was required to help her mother with the farm and care for her younger siblings.

She married Roy Fletcher on Dec. 14, 1922, in Albuquerque, N.M. They moved to the North Fork in 1925. He died in 1975.

Mrs. Fletcher and her husband were fruit farmers and fruit processors. She enjoyed cooking, her family, her church, her community and working in the soil. She was an accomplished seamstress. She was a charter member of Paonia Christian Fellowship.

She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Haley of Grand Junction, Vivian Hadley of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Earlana Sims of Paonia; a half - brother of Fort Collins; five grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; and eight great - great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Fletcher; four brothers; and two sisters.

Dode Peterson - - 1917 - 2004

Dode Peterson of Cedaredge died on Monday, July 19, 2004, at Willow Tree of Delta. She was 86.

Mrs. Peterson was born on Nov. 7, 1917, in Eckert, to Rufus George and Viva L. (Pyle) Loucks. She spent her childhood in Cedaredge, graduating from Cedaredge High School in 1936. She was a lifetime resident of Cedaredge.

She married Archie C. Peterson on Nov. 18, 1936, in Eckert. He died on Nov. 17, 1995, in Delta.

Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker. She was a member of Elberta Rebekah Lodge #106, Colby Birthday Club and a charter and lifetime member of the Surface Creek Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons, Buckley Peterson and Bradley Peterson, both of Cedaredge; two daughters, Venna Ramicone of Tahoe City, Calif., and Lanetta Wagner of Cedaredge; a sister, Nina DenBeste of Paonia; three brothers, Ruel Loucks of Cedaredge, J.D. Loucks of Hamilton, Mont., and Jack Loucks of Fort Collins; 14 grandchildren; 26 great - grandchildren; and one great - great - grandchild.

A funeral service was held on July 26 at First Baptist Church in Cedaredge, with Reverend Dik Abbott officiating. Burial followed at Cedaredge Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Elberta Rebekah Lodge #106.

Edith Bettis - - 1927 - 2004

Edith Aileen Bettis of Olathe died on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 76.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on July 29 at Taylor Funeral Chapel with James Gall officiating. Burial will follow at Olathe Cemetery.

Mrs. Bettis was born on Nov. 16, 1927, in Steamboat Springs, to Martin and Dovie (Smith) Reynolds. She spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Steamboat Springs. She took accounting classes at Mesa College and graduated in two years. She lived in Montrose before moving to Olathe 20 years ago.

She married Willis Harrison Bettis on Dec. 25, 1951, in Grand Junction. He was a pipe - fitter and she traveled with him from coast to coast. They had been married for 52 years. He survives.

Mrs. Bettis worked in accounting. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Royal Neighbors of America where she served as an oracle for one year. She enjoyed boating, flowers, gardening, fishing, painting, needlepoint, canning fruits and vegetables, stained glass, cake decorating and animals. Each of her cows had a special name.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Bettis of Olathe; two sons and their wives, Mike and Debra Bettis of Delta, Utah, and Richard and Janell Bettis of Glendale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Bettis was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

John Mills - - 1936 - 2004

John Mills of Hotchkiss died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at his residence. He was 67.

No services are planned.

Mr. Mills was born on Oct. 15, 1936, in Sutherland, Neb., to Glen and Lorraine (Hartman) Mills. He spent his childhood and attended school in Lakewood and Grand Lake.

He married Marlene Parker on Sept. 5, 1954, in Edgewater. She survives. They lived in Fort Lupton for 25 years, moving to Hotchkiss in 1993.

Mr. Mills was a truck foreman for Oxbow Mining Company. He enjoyed fishing, camping, horses and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Mills of Hotchkiss; a son and his wife, Keith and Laurie Mills of Riverton, Wyo.; two daughters, Dana Peters and her husband John of Arvada, and LaDean Easlick of Denver; two brothers, Mason Mills of Crawford and Tim Mills of Grand Junction; two sisters, Kathy Addis and Pat Welch, both of Edna, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great - grandchildren.

Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Byron Mills.

Lucile Titus - - 1912 - 2004

Lucile Louissa Titus of Montrose, formerly of Delta County died on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose. She was 92.

A funeral service was held on July 26, at First Assembly of God in Delta with Pastors Lee Ponder, Don Farmer and Buddy Bishop officiating. Interment followed at Cory Cemetery.

Mrs. Titus was born on May 31, 1912, in Greensburg, Kan., to Grover Ortan and Maude I. (Tice) Hickman. She spent her childhood and attended school in Kansas.

She married Ben A. Titus on Aug. 22, 1937, in Sharon, Kan. He died on May 12, 1990, in Delta. They moved to Delta County in 1939, living in Paonia, Hotchkiss, Somerset and Delta.

Mrs. Titus was a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Delta. She enjoyed sewing, teaching Sunday school and working in the church nursery. She was known as the "little missionary" at Valley Manor and was partly responsible for the development of the chapel.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Virgil Lee and Lavon Titus of Grand Junction; four daughters and their husbands, Virginia Maxine and Ivan Davis of Olathe, Ruth Geneva and Duane "Dewey" Angerhofer of Edgemont, S.D., Thelma Lorena and Eluid "Louis" Archuleta of West Valley City, Utah, and Stella Dolores and Frank Trujillo of Greeley; a sister and her husband, Roberta Erma and Warren Coburn of Stockton, Calif.; nine grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.

Mrs. Titus was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Manor Care Center Chapel Fund, 1401 S. Cascade, Montrose, CO 81401.

Martha Adams - - 1933 - 2004

Martha Lorraine Adams, formerly of Eckert, died in Denver from complications of heart bypass surgery on Wednesday, July 21, 2004. She was 71.

Mrs. Adams was born on Jan. 9, 1933, in Plattsburg, Mo., to Ralph and Dorothy (Rossen) Young. She moved to the Grand Valley around 1947 and graduated from Appleton High School in 1951.

She married John O. Ferguson on Oct. 6, 1951. He died in November 1985. She then married Troy Adams on Dec. 11, 1986. He died in February 2004.

Mrs. Adams enjoyed sewing, knitting crocheting, crafts, quilting, antiques, photography and oil painting.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Scott and Debbie Ferguson of Grand Junction, and Kurt and Nancy Ferguson of Dillon, Mont.; four daughters and their husbands, Valerie and Ron Stanfield, and Leslie and David Foster, all of Grand Junction, Janette and Mike Fudge of Grand Lake, and Jennifer and Ken Reed of Colorado Springs; a sister and her husband, Ruth and John Krizman of Grand Junction; 25 grandchildren; and 13 great - grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on July 31 at 4 p.m. at Appleton Christian Church with Merle Miller officiating.

Maurine Wilson - - 1948 - 2004

Maurine Frances Wilson of Hotchkiss died on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at her parents' home in Delta. She was 55.

A communion service was held on July 26 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Delta, with Reverend John Muller Jr. officiating. A graveside service followed at Delta City Cemetery.

Ms. Wilson was born on Dec. 22, 1948, in Houma, La., to David and Marguerite (Ayo) Wilson. She spent her childhood in Morgan City, La., graduating from Morgan City High School in 1966. She also lived in Lakewood, Hotchkiss and Delta County.

She was a housekeeper and a vet assistant. She enjoyed photography, ceramics, mountain climbing, horseback riding, taking care of animals and taking pictures of wildlife. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Delta and the North Fork Shutterbug Camera Club.

Ms. Wilson is survived by her parents, David and Marguerite Wilson of Delta; two brothers, Dale Wilson of Delta, and Glenn David Wilson and his wife Gail of Austin; a niece, April Gail Wilson; and a friend, William Faulkner.

Nancy Dicamillo - - 1929 - 2004

Nancy Lee Dicamillo of Cushing, Okla., died after an extended illness on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at her home. She was 74.

Mrs. Dicamillo was born a twin on Nov. 30, 1929, in Hotchkiss, to Edward and Lillie (Griffin) Vier.

She married Raymond Dicamillo on May 1, 1949. He died in 1980.

Mrs. Dicamillo is survived by two daughters, Yonna Miller and her husband Fred, and Yvonne Beyer, all of Montrose; seven grandchildren, two brothers and their wives, Roy and Marilyn Vier of Cushing, Okla., and Jack and Peggy Vier of Cedaredge; two sisters, Ruth Stanley of Grand Junction, and Ginger Andregg of Olathe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dicamillo; a son, Richard Tuffy Dicamillo; six brothers, Donald Vier, Kenneth Vier, James Vier, Ralph Vier, Vern Vier and John Vier; and two sisters, her twin Arvada Lee and Claudine.

Memorial contributions may be made to Denver Children's Hospital, 1056 E. 19th Ave., BOW60, Denver, CO 80281, or to the hospice of the donor's choice.
