Robert Snyder - - 1913 - 2004

Robert James Snyder of Grand Junction died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Larchwood Inns of Grand Junction. He was 90.

Mr. Snyder was born on Dec. 28, 1913, in Kaylor, N.M., to John and Gertrude (Abraham) Snyder. He spent his childhood in Olathe.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Snyder married Ada Silver on Oct. 30, 1943, in Grand Junction. She survives.

He lived and farmed on the Western Slope most of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming and his family.

Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife, Ada Snyder of Grand Junction; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Philip Scheetz of Delta; a son, Jim Snyder of Grand Junction; two grandsons, Jeff Scheetz and his wife Tammi of Colorado Springs, and Graham Snyder of Grand Junction; and two great - grandsons, Philip Robert Scheetz and Ryan Jeffrey Scheetz.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Snyder.

Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction handled the arrangements.

Terry Wilson Sr. - - 1939 - 2004

Terry Walker Wilson Sr. of California died on July 12, 2004, at Santa Rosa Hospital. He was 65.

Mr. Wilson was born on May 23, 1939, in Delta, to Clinton S. and Nina A. (Walker) Wilson. He spent his childhood in Hotchkiss, graduating from Hotchkiss High School in 1956.

He served in the National Guard.

Mr. Wilson moved to California, where he worked for Ukiah Safeway for 20 years.

He married Jeannine Marshall. She preceded him in death. He later married Melody Wilson. She survives.

Mr. Wilson was one of the founding fathers of the Harley Owners Group, Mendocino County Chapter. He was a resident of Mendocino County for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Wilson; two sons, Terry Jr. and Clinton; two grandchildren, Bradley and Nicholas; three stepsons, Kenny, Richard and Gary; a sister, Beatrice Allen of Cortez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannine Wilson; a daughter, Sherice; a sister, Thelma Allen; and a brother, Warren Wilson.

A memorial service was held at Assembly of God, Healdsburg, Calif.

Virgie Shreeves - - 1918 - 2004

Virgie V. Shreeves of Delta died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her residence. She was 86.

Mrs. Shreeves was born on Jan. 9, 1918, in Eckert, to John and Anna (Austin) Bowen. She graduated from Delta High School. She lived many years in Escalante Canyon.

She married Bert Shreeves on Sept. 2, 1939, in Delta. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Shreeves was a cook at Lincoln Elementary School and a bus driver for many years for Delta County School District. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints in Delta, Katherine Rebekah Lodge #65 of Delta, and Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of Delta.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald J. Shreeves and Larry Bert Shreeves, both of Delta; two daughters, Carol Simler of Delta and Sharon Palmer of Cedaredge; a brother, Vernon Bowen of Ogden, Utah; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Shreeves was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Shreeves; a sister; and a granddaughter.

A funeral service was held on July 24 at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta, with graveside rites by Katherine Rebekah Lodge #65.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.

James Foy - - 1925 - 2004

James Snyder Foy of Pennsylvania died on Monday, July 26, 2004. He was 79.

Mr. Foy was born on Jan. 12, 1925, in Somerset, Pa., to James A. and Leora (Snyder) Foy. He moved to Erie, Pa., in 1948.

He was a maintenance supervisor for the Erie Housing Authority for 39 years. He retired in 1985. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Fort Erie Muzzle Loaders, and served on the board of the Gem City Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and gardening. He raised and hunted with beagles and coon hounds.

Mr. Foy is survived by two daughters, Mary Maxine Woods of Erie, Pa., formerly of Paonia, and Shirley Deemer and her husband Ralph of Erie, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Nettie Bush and her husband Wilgus of Jackson, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Thompson Foy; two sisters, Mary Maxine Foy Curry and Mae Louise Foy; a grandson, Peter Matthew Woods; and a son - in - law, Karl E. Woods.

A funeral service was held on July 29 at Brugger Funeral Home in Erie, Pa., with Reverend J. W. Brewer officiating. Burial followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Byron Crader - - 1919 - 2004

Byron S. Crader of Cedaredge died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at his residence. He was 84.

A vigil and rosary service was held on Aug. 8 at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Cedaredge. Rosary was recited by his wife, Margaret Crader, and Wilma Eggleston. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Aug. 9 at St. Philip's Catholic Church with Reverend Mark Bettinger officiating. Interment was at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction with Reverends Mark Bettinger, Vincente Paz cn la casa and the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard officiating.

Mr. Crader was born on Nov. 14, 1919, in Columbus, Neb., to Sylvester and Phydella (Weber) Crader. He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Waverly, Neb. He received a degree in photography from L.A. City College in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II

He married Margaret Virginia Bonneau on Feb. 7, 1959, in Rochester, N.Y. She survives. They moved from Pueblo West to Cedaredge on Aug. 1, 1985.

Mr. Crader was a member of St. Philip's Catholic Church in Cedaredge, Our Lady of the Rockies and Knights of Columbus. He was a retired photographer. He enjoyed reading, art, photography and real estate.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Crader of Cedaredge; and a brother and his wife, Otto and Mary Crader of California.

Mr. Crader was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Crader.

Christina Livingston - - 1932 - 2004

Christina J. Livingston of Checotah, Okla., died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. She was 72.

Mrs. Livingston was born on April 29, 1932, in Delta, to Peter Jeffery and Athena (Paliothothoris) Brown. She was a homemaker.

She married Herbert O. Livingston. He survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Ray Livingston of Rayburn, Texas, and Danny Livingston of Norton, Kan.; three daughters, Brenda Downing of Fritz, Texas, Kathy Doshier of Beggs, Okla., and Crystal Klein of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two brothers, George A. Brown of Golden, and John Brown of Grand Junction; a sister, Virginia Hall of Delta; 10 grandchildren; 13 great - grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Mrs. Livingston was preceded in death by a son, Michael Livingston; and a brother, Bob Brattis.

A funeral service was held on Aug. 7 at Brush Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Gary McKeen and Darren Wallace officiating. Burial followed at Pierce Cemetery.

Francis Nagel - - 1932 - 2004

Francis E. Nagel of Delta died on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Willow Tree of Delta. He was 72.

Mr. Nagel was born on March 15, 1932, in Long Pine, Neb., to Merle and Loretta (Wright) Nagel.

He married Margaret Butler on Oct. 15, 1965, in Steamboat Springs.

Mr. Nagel moved to Delta in 1957 from Parshall. He worked as a carpenter on the Blue Mesa, Morrow Point, Paonia and Crawford dams. He then was self employed building houses in the Delta area. He later worked at Farmer Frank's in Paonia until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed going to auctions and restoring old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Nagel of Delta; a son and his wife, Robert and Kim Nagel of Littleton; a brother, Henry Nagel of Delta; five sisters, Susie Seitz and her husband Don of Arvada, Betty Nagel and Joanne Nagel, both of Morrison, Bonnie Dobey and her husband Don of Clifton, and Wilhelmina Nagel of Fort Collins; and a grandson, Andre Nagel of Littleton.

Mr. Nagel was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mesa View Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Mesa View Cemetery.

Harold Hanna - - 1934 - 2004

Harold Lee Hanna of Hotchkiss died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 70.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 1 p.m.. at Taylor Funeral Chapel in Delta, with Bill Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.

Mr. Hanna was born on Feb. 26, 1934, in Wellington, Utah, to Jack Darwin and Helen (Olson) Hanna. He spent his childhood in Wellington, Utah, and graduated from high school in Carbon County, Utah.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Hanna married Darla Olson May 25, 1952, in Wellington, Utah. She survives. They traveled throughout the western United States for his work. They moved to Hotchkiss 18 years ago.

He was a superintendent for Peter Kiewit Construction Company in Phoenix, Ariz., retiring in 1995 after 22 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints and the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge #1807. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his family.

Mr. Hanna is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darla Hanna of Hotchkiss; four sons, Keith Hanna and Jack Hanna, both of Hotchkiss, Chris Hanna and his wife Jan, and Kenneth Hanna and his wife Charlsa, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Helen Hanna of Price, Utah; a sister and her husband, Carol and Duane Fluckiger of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers and their wives, Wayne and Loretta Hanna of Ellisville, Mo., and Blake and Myrna Hanna of Price, Utah; nine grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack D. Hanna.
