Joe Macht 1920 - 2005

Joe J. Macht of Cedaredge died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Denver. He was 85.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery with Pastor Paul Rosentrater officiating.

Mr. Macht was born June 20, 1920, in Pagosa Springs, to Joseph and Hazel Macht. He moved to Glendale, Ariz., when he was 10. He attended Fort Lewis College for two years before joining the U.S. Army in 1941. After leaving the military in 1943 he finished his schooling, earning an engineering degree.

He married Rose Mary Scarpino in 1952. After his retirement they moved to Cedaredge. She survives.

Mr. Macht is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose Mary Macht; three daughters, Mary Still and her husband Larry, Joyce Macht and Debbie Macht; two sons and their wives, John and Mona Macht and Dave and Merrie Jo Macht; six grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and a sister, Hazela Haptonstall.

Karen Brown - 2005

A memorial service for Karen Lee Brown will be Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2802 Patterson, Grand Junction.

Donations will be taken to help publish her book for children.

Dale Bott 1930 - 2006

Dale Rex Bott of Austin died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at his home. He was 75.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge, with Pastor Max Kendrick officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction, with graveside rites by the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard.

Mr. Bott was born June 16, 1930, in Minot, N.D., to George Henry and Clara Ethel (Dickenson) Bott. He spent his childhood in Willston, N.D., and Idaho before moving to Arizona, where he attended school in Willcox. He received a two - year certificate from a technical electronics college in California.

He married Margo Merrill on Jan. 17, 1954, in Willcox, Ariz. They celebrated 52 years of marriage together. She survives.

Mr. Bott served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was stationed in Korea Chosen Reservoir. He earned a tech sergeant rank during his four years of service, earning two Purple Hearts and several medals for bravery.

He was a technical representative for Douglas Aircraft Missile Systems. He began his 11 years of service at the Tucson, Ariz., plant. He also worked for their four plants in California including Vandenberg Air Force Base. He then became a maintenance engineer for the general services administration at the federal court house in Medford, Ore., for 32 years. He was a beekeeper and taught classes on beekeeping at Rogue Valley Community College in Grants Pass, Ore.

Mr. Bott was a member of the Assembly of God Reese Creek Christian Center in Eagle Point, Ore. He served as deacon and help build the new church where he worshiped for 18 years. He was a member of the Southern Oregon Beekeepers Association where he served as president for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and Fraternity of Honor the Chosen Few. He enjoyed beekeeping, photography and woodworking. He served as a leader for 4 - H beekeeping for eight years in Medford, Ore.

Mr. Bott is survived by his wife, Margo Bott of Austin; a son and his wife, Timothy Dale and Tawny Bott of Kiowa; six foster sons, William Hammon, Thomas Hammon, Ronnie Hammon, Joel Lisson, George Taylor and Keith Fuchs, all of Eagle Point, Ore.; a foster daughter, Joana Meek of Medford, Ore.; a sister, Evelyn Tuck of Cedaredge; a brother, John L. Bott of Tucson, Ariz.; and numerous foster grandchildren and great - grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Stella Cornish 1935 - 2006

Stella L. Cornish of Paonia died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 70.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at Paonia Assembly of God with Pastor Lee Ponder officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Paonia.

Mrs. Cornish was born Dec. 14, 1935, north of Paonia at the Converse Mine camp to Frank and Jessie (Stucker) Pottorff. She spent her childhood and attended school in Paonia.

She married Richard “Dick” Cornish on Aug. 15, 1953, in Fort Riley, Kan. They moved to Leadville in 1955. He died May 28, 1972, in Leadville.

Mrs. Cornish was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She moved to Paonia in 1993.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Luck and Diane Cornish of Paonia, and Doug and Debbie Cornish of Cartersville, Ga.; a sister and her husband, Edith and Wayne Fiadga of Leadville; nine grandchildren; and nine great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Cornish was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Cornish; and a daughter, Melody Cornish.

Kathleen Crosby 1929 - 2006

Kathleen “Kathy” Crosby of Hotchkiss died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction. She was 76.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss, with James Gall officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.

Mrs. Crosby was born Oct. 2, 1929, in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England, to Mr. and Mrs. William Arthur Hooks. She spent her childhood and attended school in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England.

She married Francis Marion “Red” Crosby on Dec. 11, 1952, in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England. They lived in Aurora before moving to Hotchkiss in 1992. He died on Aug. 25, 1998, in Paonia.

Mrs. Crosby was a homemaker. She had been a member of Cottonwood Club for over 13 years, serving as president for the last two years. She enjoyed the outdoors, being a mother and working in her yard. She collected dinner plates with the names of every state on them for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Francis Crosby and Patrick Kyle Crosby, both of Hotchkiss; three brothers, Arthur Hooks, Stephen Hooks, and Billy Hooks and his wife Glydnis, all of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England; a sister, Carol Brown of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England; and several nieces and nephews of England.

Mrs. Crosby was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. “Red” Crosby; and a sister, Sandra Emms.

Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Keith Deubler 1929 - 2006

Keith Frederick Deubler of Cedaredge died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, in Wickenburg, Ariz. He was 76.

A memorial service was held Jan. 7 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg, Ariz., with Dr. John Anderson officiating.

Mr. Deubler was born July 29, 1929, in Auburn, Neb., to Carrie and Friedrich Deubler. He attended Midland College in Midland, Neb. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha, Neb., in 1954.

He joined the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 1955. He retired as a colonel after 24 years of service. He then moved to Cedaredge and wintered in Wickenburg, Ariz., for the past 12 years.

Mr. Deubler enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and studying the Bible. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg, Ariz., and First Baptist Church in Cedaredge. He was involved with AWANA, Prison Fellowship, Pregnancy Resource Center in Delta, and Life Chain.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Anna Jane Deubler of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Cedaredge; two sons, David Deubler of Manhattan, Kan., and Steven Deubler and his wife Donna of Longmont; two daughters and their husbands, Leigh - Ann and Mike Maloney of Colorado Springs, and Denise and John Sorensen of Westminster; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Deubler was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Ann (Sloma) Deubler.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 930 North Tegner, Wichenburg, AZ 85390, First Baptist hurch, 370 West Main, Cedaredge, CO 81413, or Sun Health Hospice, 12740 North Plaza del Rio Blvd., Peoria, AZ 85381.

Frieda Murray 1918 - 2006

Frieda Murray of Delta died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. She was 87.

Mrs. Murray was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Lebanon, Mo., to Paul and Bessie (Wilson) Smith. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1936. She graduated from Drury College in 1940, in Springfield, Mo. She received her master of arts degree at Western State College in Gunnison in 1966.

She married Ray Murray on Nov. 9, 1946, in Raton, N.M. He died Jan. 20, 1998.

Mrs. Murray was a member of Presbyterian Church of Delta. She taught school in Lebanon, Mo., for three years, eastern Colorado for two years and in Delta County for over 29 years.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Ed and Suki Murray of Crecent City, Calif., and Larry and Christine Murray of Livermore, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Paula and Bud Ball of Salem, Ore.; a sister and her husband, Doris and John Goodloe of Dallas, Texas; a brother and his wife, Don and Mary Ann Smith of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Florentino Ramirez 1963 - 2006

Florentino T. “Tino” Ramirez of Grants, N.M., died Jan. 16, 2006. He was 42.

Mr. Ramirez was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Grants, N.M., to Tomas and Francisca Ramirez. He graduated from Delta High School.

He was a correctional officer at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility.

Mr. Ramirez was giving and kind - hearted.

He is survived by his mother, Francisca Ramirez of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Jadrain Lucero of Grants, N.M.; a daughter, Marquise Ramirez of Grants, N.M.; two brothers and their wives, Tomas and Connie Ramirez of Glendale, Ariz., and Andy and Diana Ramirez of Grants, N.M.; four sisters and their husbands, Clara and Monico Mirabal, and Connie and Larry Mirabal, all of Moriarty, N.M., Helen and Ben Montes of Mammoth, Ariz., and Bessie and Clarence Padilla of Grants, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his father, Tomas Ramirez; and a nephew, Carlos Ramirez.

Rosary was said Jan. 22 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, N.M. A funeral Mass was held Jan. 23 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He was cremated.

Direct Funeral Services of Albuquerque handled the arrangements.
