Anita Atencio
Dec. 1, 1911 - Nov. 17, 1999

Anita Atencio of Lafayette died of cancer Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, in Louisville. She was 87.

She was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Clayton, N.M., to Frank Borrego and Julia Salazer Borrego. She married Abraham Lincoln Atencio in 1936 in Lafayette.

She was a homemaker. She moved to Boulder County in 1920 and grew up in Longmont. She lived in Lafayette since 1943.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Atencio of Westminster and Robert Atencio of Broomfield; one daughter, Elaine Robledo of Broomfield; five sisters, Celia Lomeli of Northglenn, Margaret Perez, Cora Tafoya and Ida Vega, all of Denver, and Nora Manzanares of Lafayette; a brother, Albert Borrego of Longmont; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; one daughter; one son; and two brothers.

A rosary will be sung at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Cemetery.

Louise Elizabeth Stiegemeyer Stubenrauch

Louise Elizabeth Stiegemeyer Stubenrauch of Boulder died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Boulder. She was 90.

She was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Litchfield, Ill., to Gustav F.W. Stiegemeyer and Lydia Reuter Stiegemeyer. She married Dr. Charles H. Stubenrauch Jr. on June 26, 1939, in Tuscola, Ill.

Mrs. Stubenrauch received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois. She was a teacher for 10 years. She also was a church organist for many years.

She enjoyed art and music. She moved to Boulder from Wheaton, Ill., in 1971.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Carl F. Stubenrauch of Boulder; a daughter, Katherine Day of Boulder; two sisters, Ann Turnquist of Oak Park, Ill., and Katherine Martin of Sun City West, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Louis Stiegemeyer; and a sister, Barbara Stiegemeyer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11 St., Boulder.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Boulder.

Interment will be in Green Mountain Cemetery.

Evelyn Quintal Rose
Jan. 15, 1910 - Nov. 14, 1999

Evelyn Quintal Rose of Boulder died on Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Boulder. She was 89.

She was born Jan. 15, 1910, in Oakland, Calif., to Antony Quintal and Amelia Bernard Quintal. She married Edward L. Rose on Dec. 31, 1939, in Berkeley, Calif.

Mrs. Rose was a piano teacher, musician and composer. She graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

She was a member of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Boulder Piano Club. She enjoyed flower arranging. She came to Boulder in 1945.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a daughter, Carolyn Rose Gimian of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Quintal.

Services were held. Cremation has occurred.

Contributions may be made to a Music Scholarship Fund, in care of Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Frances Flanagan Endres
March 13, 1913 - Nov. 16, 1999

Frances Flanagan Endres of Longmont died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, in Longmont United Hospital. She was 86.

She was born March 13, 1913, in Bismarck, N.D., to Thomas Flanagan and Mary Foley Flanagan. She married Frank M. Endres on May 29, 1944, in Denver. He died in April 1993.

Mrs. Endres spent several years teaching in rural schools in North Dakota, worked for the Public Welfare Board of North Dakota, the Farm Security Administration in Portland, Ore., in civil service, and for the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center in Denver, completing 30 years of federal civil service.

Mrs. Endres attended Dickinson State College in North Dakota. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Longmont. She enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, traveling and activities sponsored by the Longmont Senior Center. She moved to Longmont in 1979 from Denver.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Snell of Niwot; and a nephew, Dennis Tenney of Louisville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Flanagan; and a sister, Eleanor Flanagan.

A funeral will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 336 Emery St., Longmont, with the Rev. Brian Morrow officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

F. Stuart Nolte
Feb. 10, 1920 - Nov. 11, 1999

F. Stuart Nolte of Boulder died Nov. 11, 1999, at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 79.

He was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Carl J. Nolte and Hedwig "Hattie" Schmidt Nolte. He married Nancy Williams on Sept. 30, 1950, in Brooklyn.

Mr. Nolte graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Lehigh University in 1942. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honorary. He later received a master's degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic University.

He was a heat transfer engineer and engineering manager for Babcock and Wilcox in New York and Akron, Ohio, for 34 years. He worked for Stearns-Roger in Denver for 10 years. He moved to Denver in 1977 and to Boulder in 1985.

Mr. Nolte was an Eagle Scout and remained active in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, reading and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; three sons, James Nolte of Montpelier, Vt., Christopher Nolte of Highlands Ranch, and David Nolte of Lafayette, Ind.; a stepmother, Willough Nolte of Lacey, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl John Nolte Jr.; and a sister, Virginia Valiga.

A memorial gathering will be held later. Cremation has occurred.

Hazlett 'Haz' Wubben
Sept. 22, 1922 - Oct. 31, 1999

Hazelett "Haz" Wubben of Grand Junction, formerly of Boulder County, died Oct. 31, 1999, in Grand Junction. He was 77.

He was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Paonia, to Horace Wubben and Irene Hazlett Wubben. He married Betty Oliver on Feb. 24, 1945, in Los Angeles.

Mr. Wubben was a professor of school administration at the University of Colorado from 1964 to 1987 and served one year as interim dean of the School of Education. While at the university, he was state chairman for the North Central Accrediting Association from 1964 to 1977. He served as a dissertation adviser for more than 50 doctoral students and chaired more than 40 North Central Association Evaluation teams. He was elected to an honorary life membership in the North Central Association in 1986.

He received the CU School of Education's Distinguished Faculty Award.

He received a master's degree from the University of Colorado and a doctorate of education from Stanford University.

Mr. Wubben was a Marine pilot in the Pacific in World War II. He enjoyed the outdoors and reading.

Survivors include his wife of Grand Junction; a son, Mark Wubben of Rifle; a daughter, Nancy Hare of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, John Wubben of Astoria, Ore.; a sister, Virginia Rider of Grand Junction; and two grandchildren.

No local services were held and cremation has occurred.

Janet Esty
Oct. 5, 1941 - Nov. 8, 1999

Janet Esty of Boulder died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Boulder. She was 58.

She was born Oct. 5, 1941, in Bemidji, Minn., to Vernon Dearholt and Nedra Bowing Dearholt. She was divorced.

Mrs. Esty was the founder of Neomed Inc. of Boulder, the Colorado Indian Market of Denver and Boulder., and the owner of White Horse Gallery of Boulder.

She came to Boulder in 1969, from Bemidji, Minn.

Survivors include her mother of Bemidji; a daughter, Andrea Esty of Boulder; a brother, John Dearholt of LaFeria, Texas; three sisters, Patricia Campbell and Susan Dearholt of Bemidji, and Glenna Kellin of Grand Rapids, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Graveside services were held in Bemidji. Inurnment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.
