Robin Zentz
Born in San Diego, California on Mar. 15, 1957

Robin Zentz-Simpson-Woltje, age 50, of Louisville, Colorado, died Saturday October 6, 2007 at Balfour HospiceCare in Louisville. Robin battled eleven months with glioblastoma cancer.

Robin was born in San Diego, California on March 15, 1957 to John Lloyd and Donna Irene (Tingler) Zentz. She graduated from high school in Sterling, Colorado in 1975. She married Larry Simpson of Sterling in 1977. They divorced in 1980, but remained lifelong friends.

Robin continued her education studying at the College of Medical and Dental Assistants in Denver, graduating in 1979. In 1986 she graduated from Nebraska Western College with an Associates Degree. She then continued at Kearney State College where she received a Bachelors Degree in 1989.

In her career she worked as a NICU nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska for eleven years. She also worked for four years as a Pediatric Nurse Assessor for the state of Nebraska helping disabled children get the services they needed. She worked for two years as a coordinator for Project Continuity with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, and for several years, worked for Olston Health Services as a staffing nurse and pediatric home care nurse. She left Good Samaritan to become a traveling nurse with Cross Country Travel Corp. Robin also enjoyed volunteering with the Bloodmobile, food pantries and health fairs. Most recently, Robin worked in NICU at Boulder Community Hospital and University Hospital.

Robin enjoyed stamping, sewing, crafts, and spending time with family. She also enjoyed walks in the great outdoors. Membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had been a very important part of her life.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Joyelle Cassel and grandson, Raven Cassel of Louisville; two sisters, Joyce Randall of Covington, Washington, and Bonnie Zentz of Topeka, Kansas; four brothers, David (Tracy) Zentz of Bellvue, Colorado, Ted Zentz of Arcadia, Nebraska, Shawn Zentz of Lincoln, Nebraska, and James (Stacy) Zentz of Litchfield, Nebraska; seven nieces and four nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon to five on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Howe Mortuary in Longmont. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to the service to be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 12, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 701 W. South Boulder Road, Louisville. Interment will follow at the Louisville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO, 80501.

Alberta Josephine Cerny Clark

Alberta Josephine Cerny Clark was born on August 24, 1915 in Longmont to Albert Cerny and Josephine (Schwitzer) Cerny. She married J. Clifford Clark on December 1, 1934 in Longmont. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1984 and were married for 61 years. Clifford preceded her in death on January 2, 1995.

Alberta was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School and Longmont public schools. She was a lifelong member of the Longs Peak Grange, the Lakeview Extension Club, and the Pleasant Valley Ladies Club. She was an avid horsewoman in her younger days. She was a great helper to her husband on the farm. Together they farmed northwest of Longmont for over 50 years.

Alberta loved rodeos and baseball, particularly the Colorado Rockies. She loved game shows and playing cards, staying alert and bright to her final days. She was as devoted to her family as they were to her. Her immediate family includes five generations of Longmont natives. Holidays and family gatherings were the most important things in her life.

Alberta was well known for her angel food cake, fried chicken, and cream puffs. She was employed at Cummings Shoe Store for 33 years, serving several generations of area families. She retired in 1991 when the store closed.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a brother, Charles Cerny, two sisters, Maxine Cerny and Evelyn Whisman, a son-in-law, Fred Sekich, and grandson, Ronald Sekich.

Surviving are her daughters, Donna Sekich and Shirley (Robert) Jackson, all of Longmont; sisters, Jean Murray of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dorothy Behunin of Kearns, Utah; one brother, Donald Cerny of Longmont; grandchildren, Richard (Dana) Sekich of Torrington, Wyoming, Randall and Rodney Sekich, and Brian Jackson all of Longmont, and Kristen (Dan) Womer of Thornton; great-grandchildren, Candace Goodrich, Katie Sekich, Jordan Sekich, Audrey Sekich, and Anakin Sekich all of Longmont, and Andy Womer of Thornton; and great great-grandchildren, Terek Meyer, Lane and Brayden Goodrich of Longmont. Further surviving is a grandson-in-law, David Hopper of North Miami, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service to follow at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with The Reverend Brian Morrow as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Longmont Mountain View Mausoleum.

Anna Mae Trevarton
Born in Longmont, Colorado on Aug. 4, 1917

Anna Mae Trevarton of Longmont, died October 9, 2007 at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Lafayette. She was 90.

Anna was born on August 4, 1917, in Longmont to Glenn Henderson and Grace French Henderson.

On April 17, 1937 she married Elmer Thomas Trevarton in Longmont, where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Anna Mae worked as a CNA for a number of years, affiliated with local physicians and nursing homes. She later worked in retail, associated with Cummings Shoes for several years, until yet another retirement. Always active, she joined the O.U.R. Center as a volunteer. She went back to the workforce a final time with WalMart, where she enjoyed meeting and seeing many 'old time' friends from the area.

Anna Mae received her 90th birthday wish by taking a ride on the back of her grandson’s Harley motorcycle

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Joe Henderson, and tow sisters Dorothy Henderson and Bertha Gingery.

Surviving are three daughters; Glenna Cerny and Elma Chandler and her husband Rex of Longmont area and Maxine Crafton of California; one brother Alfred Henderson and his wife Marge, a sister Bonnie Muirhead and her husband Don, all of Longmont; 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 13, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Barbara Johns-Schleicher of Hygiene United Methodist Church officiating.

Judith Lee Mikeljack
Born in Alameda, California on Mar. 14, 1950

Judith L. Mikeljack, 57, of Longmont, Colorado, died October 16, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital.

Judy was born March 14, 1950 at the Oaknoll Naval Hospital in Alameda, California to Edward Otto and Charlotte Lee (Mashburn) Neilander. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Aurora, Colorado and graduated from William C. Hinkley High School in 1968. She had been leader of the marching band and was also an avid swimmer. She later attended Western State College.

Judy married Ron Mikeljack on November 13, 1983 in Longmont. She was the proud mother of five boys and two girls. She had worked for Safeway for many years, until suffering a back injury on the job. At that time she became a homemaker. Judy was big hearted, loving, caring, and fun. She was also an animal lover.

Judy was loved very much by her many friends and family including her forever soul mate, best friend and husband of 25 years, Ron Mikeljack; her sons, Abe (Heather), Geoffrey, and Mark (Heather) Derksen, and Tim (Erin) and Daniel (Kathleen) Mikeljack; and daughters, Tammy (Ron) Parker, and Andrea (Dave) Mason. She is further survived by her mother, Charlotte Neilander; a sister, Heidi (Gary) Eckert; brothers, Ed (Mary) and Dennis (Melinda) Neilander; 17 grandchildren; and, seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Neilander.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Tri-Town Baptist Church, 420 Johnson St., Frederick, Colorado.

Ruben Garcia
Born in Durango, Mexico on Feb. 28, 1954
Departed on Oct. 16, 2007 and resided in Longmont, CO.

Ruben Garcia of Longmont, Colorado died October 16, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 53.

Ruben was born February 28, 1954 in Durango, Mexico. His father was Nicolas Garcia Ramirez and Felipa Gamboa Salgado. He married Maria G. Ojeda.

Ruben worked at Butterball in Longmont as a Machine Operator.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Maria; four sons: Ruben Garcia and his wife Anna Losano, Cesar Garcia and his wife Anna Bell, Abraham Garcia and Andre Garcia, all of Longmont; his mother; four brothers, six sisters, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18 at Howe Mortuary from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Reverend Hernan Florez as celebrant. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Ernest McGILL II

Feb. 13, 1914 — Oct. 17, 2007

Ernest McGILL II of Boulder passed away at his home in Boulder County on October 17, 2007.

Ernest was born February 13, 1914 in Catoctin, MD. Ernest retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 30 years of service as an inspector. He moved to the Boulder area to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Michael Pettigrew. Ernest is a life long Episcopalian and a member of numerous parishes.

He is survived by his wife Florence, children: Ann, Ernie, Katherine, Janet and Paul, six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services from St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Harold Wayne Grim
Born in Coon Rapids, Iowa on Aug. 11, 1939
Departed on Oct. 16, 2007 and resided in Longmont, CO.

Service: Monday, Oct. 22, 2007

Wayne Grim, 68, of Longmont, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2007. He died at HospiceCare Center in Louisville after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born August 11, 1939 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to Harold and Ruth (Earhart) Grim.

He served in the United States Air Force from October of 1960 to October of 1968. During that time he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. Later, he was employed by Formby Ford until September 2007.

On December 10, 1960 he married the love of his life, Donna Haubrich in Dedham, Iowa. They were happily married for over 46 years and together had 4 children; Debbie, Kristie, Kevin and Jeff.

Wayne was an active member of LifeBridge Christian Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was baptized with his wife, youngest son, and son-in-law in early 2000. For the remainder of his life he served the Lord faithfully.

He loved playing golf with his wife and spent many weekends on a golf course; his favorites included Mariana Butte and Indian Peaks. He also loved fishing on Mary’s Lake in Estes Park. He treasured God’s country and never took for granted its splendor. Although he enjoyed many things, the love he had for his family surpassed all else. Time spent gathered together on Holidays and special events brought him exceeding joy.

Preceding him in death were; his mother and father, his sister, Karen Grim, and his son-in-law, Gary Rosenbaum.

Surviving family are: his wife Donna, his daughters Debbie Rosenbaum and Kristie Hopp with husband Craig, his sons Kevin Grim with wife Kristin, and Jeff Grim with wife Jennifer. His grandchildren: Brad Rosenbaum with wife Jennifer, Nicole Morrow with husband Bryan, Tami, Tifani, Tracie and Tonia Hopp, Tim, Troy, Josh and Shelby Grim, and Samuel and Hannah Grim. He was also survived by a sister, Donna Steele with husband Jim.

A memorial service will be held on October 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., at LifeBridge Christian Church. Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services of Longmont is handling arrangements.

Larry Derrera, Sr.

Larry J. 'Punkins' Derrera, Sr., died October 26, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 56.

Larry was born on September 24, 1951 in Denver to Samuel Derrera and Mary Ann Abeyta. He grew up in the Denver area.

Punkins began a career as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He later took up the trade of a machinist, working for a number of manufactures in the Denver area.

He moved to the Longmont area a number of years ago, to be closer to family members.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Jerry and sisters Cynthia and Eloisa.

Surviving are his daughter Kristina Derrera of Denver, sons Samuel Derrera of Denver, Larry J. Derrera, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers Samuel Derrera, Jr. and his wife Fran, of Groton, Connecticut, John Lopez and his wife Angie, Joseph Lopez, Tobias Morales Derrera all of Denver, and David Lopez of Golden; sisters Madeline Stephens of Brighton, Gloria Wallen of Columbus, Ohio, Charlotte Six and her husband Gary and Carol Iglesias all of Longmont; aunt Pat Lopez and her husband Luis of Longmont and extended family.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Father Hernan Florez officiating. Interment will be held later at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Monika Steinberg
Born in Potsdam, Germany on Apr. 18, 1944
Departed on Nov. 2, 2007 and resided in Longmont, CO.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007

Monika Steinberg, 63, of Longmont, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at the HospiceCare Center in Louisville following a nine-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Monika was born April 18, 1944 in Potsdam, Germany. At the age of 9, she and her mother, Irmgard Huhn Steinberg, boarded a ship and began a grueling trip across the Atlantic Ocean. On May 5, 1953, their ship docked in New York and they emerged, weary and seasick, but excited about the opportunities that awaited them in America.

After graduating from East Patterson (New Jersey) High School in 1962, Monika attended Patterson State College, earning a degree in English. She taught high school English in New Jersey for two years where she met and later married Dr. Peter Plichka. They later divorced. She attended Columbia University in New York, majoring in art history.

One of the great highlights of her life was her two years teaching in Brazil. She later returned to New Jersey and was employed for nearly 17 years with ERIC, a division of the US Department of Education. In 1992, Monika moved to Longmont, Colorado, to be closer to the mountains she so dearly loved. Upon her move, she worked as a consultant for a variety of educational programs in affiliation with the National Training Network. She later managed the postal station at the Francis Street Pharmacy, was an editor at the Institute for Performance Excellence, and worked as a receptionist at the Longmont Clinic.

In addition to her love of travel, Monika enjoyed crafts such as needlework, knitting, watercolor painting, and her famous tissue box toppers. She was a member of Chapter FD, P.E.O. She will be remembered for her love of life and indomitable spirit.

She is greatly missed by her parents, Irmgard and Harry Steinberg of Elmwood Park, New Jersey; a brother, Dieter Schulz and his wife, Baebel, and their children, Mike and Jana; as well as many friends; and her cats, Misty, Oreo, and Kellie.

A memorial service for Monika will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.
