Edith Stearns Vote

Army Wife and Homemaker

June 21, 1911 - Nov. 10, 1998

COLORADO SPRINGS - Former Delta resident, Edith Stearns Vote, age 87, of Colorado Springs, died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Colorado Springs.

Graveside Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Vote's life will be officiated by The Rev. Tom Belt, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Montrose, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. in the Cedar Cemetery at Montrose.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral home.

Edith Stearns, the daughter of Frank and Olive M. (Jessup) Stearns, was born on June 21, 1911, in Delta, Colo., where she spent her childhood, graduated from the Delta High School, and grew to adulthood. She continued to pursue her education at the University of Colorado in Boulder and then graduated from Ross Business College in Grand Junction.

Miss Stearns was married on Oct. 20, 1935, in Delta, Colo., to Ralph Vote Jr., who preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Vote, a homemaker and Army wife, traveled with her lieutenant colonel husband and family while Mr. Vote served his country in the United States Army from 1942, during World War II, to 1964.

In 1964, the Votes moved to the Colorado Springs area where Mrs. Vote made her home until the time of her death.

She is survived by two sons: Bradley Vote, of Reno, Nev.; Gary Vote, of Novato, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Vote was a member of the Episcopal Church, the Nu Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, and was an Auxiliary member of the Retired Officers Assn. She also belonged to the Retired Officers Wives Club and Garnet Chapter No. 39, Order of the Eastern Star, of Delta.

Erma Ellen Stoll

Montrose Businesswoman

Sept. 27, 1927 - Nov. 14, 1998

MONTROSE - A Montrose businesswoman for many years, Erma Ellen Stoll, age 71, died Saturday morning, Nov. 14, 1998, in her home at Montrose.

Erma Ellen Frazier, the daughter of Bert and Ellen (Paxton) Frazier, was born on Sept. 27, 1927, on Spring Creek Mesa near Montrose, Colo. She spent her childhood, received her education, grew to adulthood, and made her home in Montrose until the time of her death.

Miss Frazier and Romaine Stoll were married on Feb. 24, 1976, in Montrose, Colo. The couple owned and operated a mobilehome park and towing service in Montrose for many years. The couple were privileged to have shared their 22nd wedding anniversary this year in February.

The crowning glory and love of Mrs. Stoll's life was her family and grandchildren. She also greatly enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Stoll's life include her husband, Romaine Stoll, of Montrose; two sons: Jerry Gray, of Montpelier, Idaho; John Stoll and wife Amy, of Montrose; two daughters: Joyce and husband Bob Hawks, of Montpelier, Idaho; Debra Burton, of Craig; and two grandsons: Roy Hawks and wife Janet; and Greg Hawks.

Cremation has taken place, with no service planned at this time.

Arrangements were handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Kyle Rardi McLeod

3-Year-Old Child

July 13, 1995 - Nov. 13, 1998

FORT COLLINS - A Service of Remembrance for 3-year-old Kyle Rardi McLeod, of Fort Collins, who died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, in The Children's Hospital at Denver, will be officiated by Pastor Tim Smith on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. from the Montrose Church of Christ. The service will conclude at the church.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Memorial gifts may be made to: The Children's Hospital, In Memory of Kyle Rardi McLeod, 1056 E. 19th Ave., Denver, Colo. 80218.

Kyle Rardi McLeod was born in Grand Junction, Colo., on July 13, 1995, the son of Kenneth Wayne McLeod and Kimberly Kay (Phillips) McLeod.

Survivors grateful to have shared Kyle's life include his mother, Kimberly Kay McLeod, of Fort Collins; his father, Kenneth Wayne McLeod, of Dallas, Texas; his stepfather, Scott Warman; one brother, Ryan Seth McLeod; one sister, Sydney Paige Warman; one stepbrother, Justin Warman; and one stepsister, Brittany Warman, all of Fort Collins.

Other family survivors include Kyle's grandparents: Don and Kay Phillips, of Montrose; Kenneth and Patsy McLeod, of Jacksonville, Texas; Tom and Marla Howard, of Hawkins, Texas; and his great-grandparents: Al and Althea Seagler, of Montrose; Anita Phillips, of Montrose; Hubert and Margurite McLeod, of Jacksonville, Texas; and Stan and Jeanette Thibodeaux, of Hawkins, Texas.

Edith Marie Caddy

Homemaker and Teacher

Dec. 12, 1902 - Nov. 15, 1998

MONTROSE - Edith Marie Caddy, age 95, a homemaker, teacher, and resident of Montrose, died Sunday morning, Nov. 15, 1998, in the San Juan Living Center at Montrose.

Edith Marie Nagle was born in Mentor, Ky., on Dec. 12, 1902, the daughter of Henry and Nettie (Hawkins) Nagle. Her parents homesteaded in Tyrone, Okla., when she was a year old and then moved to Fairview, Mo., when she was 9 years old where she attended school and received most of her education. She continued to pursue her education by attending the Pittsburg College in Pittsburg, Kan.

Miss Nagle taught school in Montana before moving to Colorado in 1928 to teach school at the Old Dallas School. She always taught grades one through eight in one-room classrooms.

Miss Nagle taught school until her marriage to George Caddy on March 21, 1928, in Ouray, Colo. Mr. Caddy preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1976, in Montrose.

Mrs. Caddy was a member of the Montrose Christian Church, and a charter member of the Montrose Cattlewomen's Association, the Spring Creek Grange, the Ouray Cattlemen Association, and the Montrose Co-op. She also belonged to the O.D.T. Club.

She loved to travel. Mrs. Caddy visited all but four states in the United States and greatly enjoyed crocheting and going snowmobiling. Mrs. Caddy loved to just have a good time.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Caddy's life include two sons: Reldon Caddy and wife Lois, of Olathe; Glendon Caddy and wife Joyce, of Montrose; two daughters: Betty and husband Ray Linsacum; Georgia Jane Freeman, all of Montrose; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Caddy was also preceded in death by one infant daughter and one infant son.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Caddy's life will be officiated by Minister Tim Smith, of the Montrose Christian Church, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. from the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow the service in Cedar Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Stanette J. Grimes

Daughter, Sister, Mother

Aug. 23, 1955 - Nov. 20, 1998

MONTROSE - Stanette J. Grimes, age 43, of Montrose, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 20, 1998, in the Colorow Care Center at Olathe.

Stanette J. Fry, the daughter of Stanley H. Fry and Peggy (Gill) Blake Fry, was born on Aug. 23, 1955, in Denver, Colo., where she spent her childhood, graduated from Cherry Creek High School, and grew to adulthood.

Ms. Grimes moved from Denver to Montrose in 1993 where she made her home until the time of her death.

Survivors grateful to have shared Ms. Grimes' life include two daughters: Nicole Grimes and Amber Grimes; two brothers: Donald and Ronald; and one sister, Pamela.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Ms. Grimes' life were officiated by James Bandmann on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. from the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. The service concluded at the chapel.

Cremation followed the service, with arrangements handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

John S. Finley

Heavy Equipment Operator

Jan. 7, 1910 - Nov. 21, 1998

HOTCHKISS - Lifelong Delta County resident, John S. Finley, age 88, a resident of Hotchkiss for 15 years, died on Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, in the Delta Care Center.

Born on Jan. 7, 1910, in Delta County, Colo., John S. Finley was the son of David Russell and Addie (Hallock) Finley. He spent his childhood, received his education, grew to adulthood, and life his entire lifetime in Delta County until the time of his death.

Mr. Finley married Hazel Gregory, who preceded him in death in November 1982.

On March 15, 1984, he married Grace Blankenship in Delta, Colo. The couple celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary this year in March.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Finley was employed as a heavy equipment operator.

He was a member of the Western Horsemen's Association and the Delta Roundup Club.

Mr. Finley greatly enjoyed horses and farmed with mule teams and horses.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Finley's life include his wife, Grace Finley, of Hotchkiss; two sons: Ron Finley and wife Loretta, of Delta; Don Finley and wife Marty, of Colorado Springs; one daughter, Doris and husband Richard Akin, of Rifle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Other family survivors include one brother, Russell Finley, of Anaheim, Calif.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Hazel, Mr. Finley was also preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Dixon.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service in Delta.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Finley's life will be officiated by Marlon Halbakken and Walter Burch on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. from the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.

Interment will follow the service in the Mesa View Cemetery at Delta, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Eureka L. Bollan

Beautician Owner/Operator

Sept. 18, 1909 - Nov. 22, 1998

MONTROSE - Eureka L. Bollan, age 89, of Montrose, died Sunday morning, Nov. 22, 1998, in the Colorow Care Center at Olathe.

Eureka L. Bollan was born in Eldridge, Mo., on Sept. 18, 1909, the daughter of William W. and Jane (Campbell) Bailey.

Miss Bailey was married on April 3, 1926, in Ava, Mo., to Fred H. Bollan, who preceded her in death after 72 years of marriage on June 18, 1998, at the Colorow Care Center in Olathe.

Mrs. Bollan was a beautician owner and operator for several years in Lebanon, Mo.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Bollan's life include two sons: Harold Bollan and wife Phyllis, of Grand Junction; Jack Bollan and wife Geraldine, of Pelsor, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Fred, Mrs. Bollan, the last surviving member of her siblings, was also preceded in death by three sons: Howard, Freddie and Charles; one grandson; two brothers; and seven sisters.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Bollan's life will be officiated by Minister Tim Smith on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. from the Montrose Christian Church.

Interment will follow the service in Cedar Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Darren Mott

Son, Husband, and Father

Jan. 7, 1964 - Nov. 25, 1998

PAONIA - Darren Mott, age 34, a son, husband and father of Paonia, died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, in an automobile accident near Crawford. Mr. Mott was a resident of the Paonia-Crawford area most of his lifetime, except for a year he lived in Crane, Mo., and was employed as a mechanic.

Darren Mott was born in Delta, Colo., on Jan. 7, 1964, the son of Richard D. and Faye L. (McCord) Mott. He spent his childhood in the Paonia-Crawford area, graduated from the Paonia High School in 1982, and grew to adulthood there. He continued to pursue his education and graduated in automotive and diesel mechanics from the Phoenix Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Ariz., and Denver.

Mr. Mott married Lara Uldene Kuretich on Oct. 30, 1993, in Paonia, Colo. The couple just recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this year in October.

Mr. Mott attended the Friends Church in Paonia.

The love and joy of his life was his family, hunting, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Mott's life include his wife, Uldene Mott; one son, Aaron Tyler Mott; and one daughter, Alissa Taylor Mott, all of Paonia.

Other family survivors include his parents, Dick and Faye Mott, of Maher; two brothers: Todd Mott and wife Rhonda, of Kalispell, Mont..; Troy Mott and wife Tina, of Whitman, Neb.; two sisters: Kelly and husband Terry Marcovich, of Denver; Sandee Mott, of Butte, Mont.; and his grandparents: Doris McCord, of Springfield, Ore.; and Horace and Pauline Mott, of Cottonwood, Ariz.

Mr. Mott was preceded in death by one grandfather, Thomas McCord.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. from the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Mott's life will be officiated by Pastor Gaylen Kinser on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. from the Friends Church in Paonia.

Interment will follow the service in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Crawford, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
