Georgia R. Lucas

Medical Records Technician

Feb. 28, 1913 Dec. 13, 1998

MONTROSE - Georgia R. Lucas, age 85, a resident of Montrose since 1981, died Sunday morning, Dec. 13, 1998, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Georgia R. Rougas, the daughter of John and Katherine (Tause) Rougas, was born on Feb. 28, 1913, in Pueblo, Colo., where she spent her childhood, graduated from the Pueblo High School, and grew to adulthood. She continued to pursue her education at Pueblo Business College in Pueblo.

She married Pete Lucas who preceded her in death in 1952.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Lucas was employed as a medical records technician for the Penrose Hospital at Colorado Springs.

In 1981, she moved from Colorado Springs to Montrose where she made her home until the time of her death.

Mrs. Lucas was versed in Ancient Greek History. She thoroughly enjoyed reading Western and Indian history.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Lucas' life include one brother, Dean Rougas, of Spring, Texas; three sisters: Harriet Zaharias, of Colorado Springs; Irene Ingle, of Montrose; Elaine Scott, of Pueblo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Pete Lucas, Mrs. Lucas was also preceded in death by one stepson, Harry Lucas; three brothers; and one sister.

A Greek Trisagion Service will be held on Thurday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. from the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel in Colorado Springs.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Lucas' life will be officiated on Friday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. from the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home Chapel.

Private entombment will be held in the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum in Colorado Springs.

Local arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Roll Mitchell LeMay

Husband, Father, Grandfather

Aug. 8, 1922 Dec. 14, 1998

PAONIA - Roll Mitchell LeMay, age 76, a resident of Paonia since he was 14 years old, died on Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Born on Aug. 8, 1922, in St. Helen's, Ore., Roll Mitchell LeMay was the son of Charles Dean and Effie (Mitchell) LeMay. He spent his childhood in Oregon until he was 14 years old and then moved with his family to Paonia where he made his home until the time of his death.

Mr. LeMay married Carol M. Hammond on July 14, 1946, in Paonia, Colo. The LeMays were blessed with one son and three daughters and were privileged to share 52 years of marriage this year in July.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a farm laborer in agriculture.

Mr. LeMay's special interests and hobbies he especially enjoyed throughout his lifetime were reading, rocks, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. LeMay's life include his wife, Carol LeMay, of Paonia; one son, Paul LeMay, of Paonia; three daughters: Linda LeMay, of Denver; Janet LeMay, of Paonia; Peggy LeMay, of Delta; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Other family survivors include one brother, Charles LeMay and wife Betty Jo, of Smith River, Calif.

Mr. LeMay was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

No services are planned, with arrangements handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Gerald Charles Kiser

Retired Electronics Engineer

Nov. 19, 1912 Dec. 15, 1998

CEDAREDGE - World War II veteran and retired Civil Service electronics engineer, Gerald Charles Kiser, age 86, a resident of Cedaredge since 1975, died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at his Cedaredge home.

Gerald Charles Kiser, the son of Charles Wood and Lola Ann (McHugh) Kiser, was born on Nov. 19, 1912, in Cedaredge, Colo., where he spent his childhood, graduated from the Cedaredge High School in 1931, and grew to adulthood.

After graduating from the Cedaredge High School, Mr. Kiser joined the United States Coast Guard and lived in San Francisco, Calif. He also lived in Riverdale, Md.; Kaneoa, Hawaii; San Diego, National City, and San Leandro, all in California. Mr. Kiser lived in Chula Vista, Calif., for 23 years prior to moving to Cedaredge in 1975 where he made his home until the time of his death.

During World War II, he served his country as a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Navy.

On Jan. 1, 1942, Mr. Kiser married Mary Margaret Knox in Vallejo, Calif. The couple were blessed with two daughters and were privileged to celebrate 56 years of marriage this year on Jan. 1.

He was a member of the Cedaredge Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member of the American Legion, Toastmasters International, and Air Borne Coordination Group.

Among Mr. Kiser's special interests and hobbies he enjoyed during his lifetime were camping, fishing, electronics, ranching, pursuing knowledge, and tinkering.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Kiser's life include his wife, Mary Margaret Kiser, of Cedaredge; and two daughters: Anadeane and husband Layne Galbraith, of Fremont, Calif.; Maryanne and husband Robert Berrett, of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mr. Kiser was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, and great-grandfather of nine great-grandchildren.

Other family survivors include two brothers: James "Mike" Kiser, of Healdsburg, Calif.; Walter Engel, of St. George, Utah; and one sister, Geraldine Miller, of Grand Junction.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon

at the Mesa View Mortuary in Delta.

Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Kiser's life will be officiated by Stephen Palmer on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. from the Cedaredge Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The service will conclude at the church.

Private family interment will be held in the Cedaredge Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

Clement D. "Clem" Urich

All-Around "Fix It Man"

Aug. 10, 1930 Dec. 16, 1998

DELTA - Clement D. "Clem" Urich, age 68, a resident of Delta since 1991, died on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at his Delta home. During his lifetime, his work was farming and agriculture related.

Clement D. Urich was born in Garner, Iowa, on Aug. 10, 1930, the son of Anton and Albina (Ptacek) Urich. He spent his childhood, graduated from high school in 1944, and grew to adulthood in Duncan, Iowa. In 1953, he graduated from USAFI.

Mr. Urich served his country as an acting SFC in the United States Army Signal Corps.

He married Angeline Meier on March 31, 1951, in Elma, Iowa. The couple were blessed with four sons and five daughters and were privileged to celebrate 47 years of marriage this year in March.

After being a resident of Iowa for 56 years, the Urichs moved to Colorado in 1986 and established a home in the Orchard City area. In 1991 they moved to Delta where Mr. Urich made his home until the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Delta, belonged to the Catholic Workmen for over 60 years, was a member of the American Legion for over 44 years, and belonged to Delta Elks Lodge No. 1235 for 10 years.

Mr. Urich was a talented all-around "fix it man." He greatly enjoyed being a motorcycle mechanic and collecting stamps and coins.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Urich's life include his wife, Angeline Urich, of Delta; four sons: Gerald Urich and wife Rita, of Delta; Tony P. Urich and wife Sue; Bernard Urich and wife Bambi, all of Garner, Iowa; Bonaven Urich and wife Joyce, of Delta; five daughters: Veronica Corkill, of Crystal Lake, Iowa; Yvonne Vazcarra, of Des Moines, Iowa; Nancy and husband Jeff Horstman, of Britt, Iowa; Karen and husband Terry Brunsen, of Colorado Springs; Marjori and husband Charlie Longhoff, of Tacoma, Wash.; and 23 grandchildren.

Other family survivors include one sister, Marian Liska, of Albert Lea, Minn.

Mr. Urich was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Connor Brunsen.

A Rosary/Vigil Service for the deceased will be recited on Friday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta.

Mass of the Resurrection will be officiated by The Rev. Charles Sena on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta. The service will conclude at the church.

A final Mass of the Resurrection will be officiated on Monday, Dec. 21, at 6:30 p.m. from Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa. The service will conclude at the church.

Local arrangements are being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.

Michael Paul Tuttle

Computer Programmer

Aug. 8, 1958 Dec. 16, 1998

ECKERT - Michael Paul Tuttle, age 40, a computer programmer and resident of Eckert, died on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Michael Paul Tuttle was born on Aug. 8, 1958, in Clovis, N.M., the son of Robert and Frances (Schilling) Tuttle. He lived in Eckert, Colo., for several years and in Gunnison for a short time before moving to the Cedaredge/Delta area. He attended schools in Cedaredge and Delta, graduating in 1976 from the Delta High School.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Tuttle continued to pursue his education at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., and graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 1981. He also attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction.

Mr. Tuttle lived in Grand Junction for seven years before moving to Eckert to live with his parents, where he made his home until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Delta, a past president of the Sertoma Club of Grand Junction, and was very interested in and volunteered for the Center for Independent Living in Grand Junction. Mr. Tuttle enjoyed publishing a newsletter for both groups.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Tuttle's life include his parents, Robert J. and Frances (Schilling) Tuttle, of Eckert; one brother, Stuart Tuttle and wife Mary, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; his grandparents: Walter and Ermadean Tuttle, of Eckert; Bill and Esther Schilling, of Fort Collins; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mr. Tuttle was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Tuttle.

Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Tuttle's life will be officiated by Pastor Marion Hofman on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. from the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1000 Pioneer Rd., in Delta. The service will conclude at the church.

Cremation will precede the service, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

Margaret Lucille Peterson

Wife, Mother, Grandmother

Jan. 29, 1909 Dec. 9, 1998

OLATHE - Margaret Lucille Peterson, age 89, died on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, in the Colorow Care Center at Olathe.

Margaret Lucille Miller, the daughter of John and Addie (Mullen) Miller, was born on Jan. 29, 1909, in Parsons, Kan., where she spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood.

Miss Miller married Harold Peterson in Durango. After their marriage, the couple established their home on the Peterson Ranch in Durango.

After retirement, the Petersons moved to Craig where they resided until Mr. Peterson's death in 1987. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Peterson, a homemaker, moved to Montrose where she made her home until poor health caused her to enter the Colorow Care Center in Olathe where she remained until the time of her own death.

Mrs. Peterson greatly enjoyed gardening.

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Peterson's life include three sons: Roy Alan Peterson, of Battle Creek, Mich.; Stanley Peterson, of Craig; and Norman Peterson, of Poway, Calif.

She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Peterson's life will be officiated by Pastor True Kirk on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. from the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.

Inurnment will be held in the Greenmont Cemetery at Durango, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Margaret L. Peterson, may be made to Alzheimer's.

Jennie Perotti

Cherished Her Flower Garden

April 14, 1916 Dec. 12, 1998

RIDGWAY Jennie Perotti, age 82, a Ridgway homemaker and a lifetime Ouray County resident, died Saturday evening, Dec. 12, 1998, at her Ridgway home.

Jennie Pecchio, the daughter of John B. and Philomena (Talamonte) Pecchio, was born on April 14, 1916, in Ouray, Colo., where she spent her childhood, received her education and grew to adulthood.

After her marriage to Albert Perotti on June 2, 1932, in Ridgway, Colo., the couple established their home on the Perotti Ranch in Dry Creek. In 1938, they purchased a ranch a mile and a half north of Ridgway where they ranched until selling and moving to town in 1955. The ranch is now owned by Austin Baer and is known as the Little Bear Ranch.

After moving to Ridgway, Mr. Perotti worked for the State Highway Department and Mrs. Perotti spent her time in her flower garden which she cherished.

Mrs. Perotti lost her husband to death on April 2, 1979, in Ridgway.

She enjoyed working with the public and made many friends through the years. Mrs. Perotti especially enjoyed entertaining in her home, embroidering, and taking care of her flowers. The love and joy of her life was her grandchildren and their families. Mrs. Perotti's family and friends all called her "Nana."

Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Perotti's life include two daughters: Rose "Rose Mary" Janes, of Durango; and Alberta "Burt" and husband Wallace Lammett, of Willard, Utah.

She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Mike Janes and wife Kathy, of Carl Junction, Mo.; Gary Lammert and wife Paula, of Baltimore, Okla.; Teresa and husband Don McLeod, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Keith Lammert and wife Becky, of Ogden, Utah; Steve Janes and wife Tracy, of Durango; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Perotti was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Montrose Valley Funeral Home.

Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Perotti's life will be officiated by Pastor Joe Kirby on Friday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. from the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow the service in the Cedar Hill Cemetery at Ouray, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home.
