Ruth V. Hunter
March 22, 1919 - September 9, 2004
CEDAREDGE - Cedaredge resident, Ruthie Hunter, 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Cedaredge surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 9, 2004.
No local services are planned.
Ruth Victoria Hunter, known as Ruthie to all who knew her, was born on March 22, 1919, to Carl Johan and Clara (Johnson) Erickson in Buda, Illinois. She spent her childhood in Kewanee, Illinois, and attended school there. She spent time in San Bernardine, California, before moving to Colorado in March of 1996, where she lived in Grand Junction and then Eckert.
Ruthie married Gerald Dwayne Greenstreet on November 12, 1938, in Ames, Iowa. After his death she married Wylie Dubbert in 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada, who preceded her in death. In November, 1973, Ruthie married Stan Hunter in Longmont, Colorado. He preceded her in death also.
Mrs. Hunter had been a clerk in several stationary supply stores, including Stockwell and Binney. She enjoyed handcrafts and gardening. Her great love was to play Bunco with her group of friends.
Those grateful to have shared in Ruthie’s life include three daughters: Peggy Hunter and her husband Ira of Pinon Hills, CA, Kay Boyd and her husband Bill of Cedaredge, CO, and Pat Gustafson and her husband Mike of Couer D’ Alene, ID; a step - son, David Hunter and his wife Barbara of Houston, TX; and her brother, Skip Erickson and his wife Ann of Hollywood, FL. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, thirteen great - grandchildren, and two great - great - grandchildren.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one brother; and three sisters.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Beatrice E. Johnson
January 25, 1915 - September 2, 2004
CEDAREDGE - Surface Creek resident, Beatrice E. Johnson, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Delta County Memorial Hospital.
No Services are planned.
Beatrice E. Neshek was born on January 25, 1915, to Albert and Martha (Salewski) Neshek in Pound, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood in Coleman Wisconsin and graduated from Coleman High School. She furthered her education in nurse’s training and graduated from Marinette Hospital. Beatrice worked as an accountant for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company for twenty - five years. She moved to Cedaredge in 1974.
Ms. Neshek’s interests included knitting and baseball. She especially loved to cook and was known for her wonderful meals and baked goodies. Beatrice had even won several ribbons for the baked goods she entered at the Delta County Fair.
Those grateful to have shared in Beatrice’s life are her daughter Sharon Bouwman of Cedaredge, CO; a half - brother, Richard Neshek and his wife Kathy; and a half - sister, Marge Culver and husband Ken all of Crivitz, WI.
She is further survived by one granddaughter, Rennie Bouwman; one grandson, Lewis Bouwman; and two great - grandchildren.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Roy and Sylvester Neshek.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Orville D. Jones
May 19, 1921 - September 4, 2004
RIFLE - Former Paonia resident, Orville D. Jones, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle, Colorado. He was 83.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 8th at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta, Colorado, with James Gall officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Paonia Wilson - Head American Legion Post #97.
Orville Dean Jones was born on May 19, 1921, to Dean L. and Bertha Fern (Garvin) Jones in Paonia, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Paonia and graduated from Paonia High School with the class of 1940. He lived in Denver before moving to Rifle five years ago.
Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Army during World War II in China, Burma, and India. After retiring from the service he became a laborer.
Orville belonged to the Disabled American Veteran Association, and the Wilson - Head American Legion Post #97 in Paonia. His interests included fishing, camping, and he especially loved to travel.
Those grateful to have shared in Orville’s life include his sister, Bertha A. Baughman and her husband Norman of Loma Linda, CA; one niece, Donna Walker and husband Roger of Parachute, CO; three nephews: Jerry Jones and wife Karen of Parachute, CO, Gary Baughman and wife Susan of Loma Linda, CA and Ronald Baughman and wife Barbara of Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Jones is further survived by a special friend, Eileen Wood of Paonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Norma Jones; and two brothers: Floyd Jones and Kenneth Jones.
Memorial contributions may be made in Orville’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Mary Maxine Perry
March 20, 1925 - Sept. 3, 2004
MONTROSE - Former Longtime Delta resident, Mary Maxine Perry, died Friday, September 3, 2004 at her home in Montrose, Colorado. She was 79.
A visitation for family and friends is planned for Thursday, September 9th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Delta. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 10th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Father Don Malin will preside. Burial will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.
Mary Maxine Beston was born on March 20, 1925 in Adams County, Colorado to the late Ed and Martha C. (Dick) Beston. She spent her childhood in Denver and graduated from West High School there in the early 40’s.
On September 17, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, Mary married Robert “Bob” Perry. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1986 in Delta.
Mrs. Beston retired from the restaurant business as a waitress. She had resided in Delta for over 20 years until moving to Montrose in 2001. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Delta. Her interests included sewing, cooking, crocheting and most of all spending time with her beloved family.
Survivors include one son, Ed Perry of Montrose and two granddaughters: Naome Hull and husband Eric of Delta and April Marie Perry of Rexburg, Idaho.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Edwin and James Beston.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Dale G. Lopez
November 21, 1946 - September 1, 2004
UTAH - Former North Fork area resident, Dale Gilbert Lopez, 57, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday, September 1, 2004.
Dale Gilbert Lopez was born on November 21, 1946, to Ramon Ismael and Edith Ann (Madril) Lopez in Alamosa, Colorado.
He married Carol E. Sisneros on July 27, 1965, in Price Utah. She survives.
Dale was a dedicated member of the Jehovah Witnesses and his pleasure was to spread the word of Jehovah to his loved ones and to anyone with an open ear. Dale was a most giving person and when the need arose he was always there.
Those grateful to have shared in Dale’s life include his loving wife of thirty - nine years, Carol Lopez of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Carollee Borceguin; and four sons: Dale Lopez, Jr. and his wife Sandra, Joshua R. Lopez, Isaiah Lopez, and Ezekial Lopez; his parents: Ramon and Edith Ann Lopez of Paonia, CO; brothers: Tony Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Duane Lopez and Allen Lopez and his wife Janet. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Alicia, Samuel, Joslin, Dale III, Jacob, Sheldon, Elisha, and Aspen.
Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Ramon Valentine Lopez; and a sister, Veronica Joyce Lopez.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 4th at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 11th at Bethlehem Cemetery in Paonia, Colorado.
Local arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

David L. Minerich
March 1, 1953 - August 31, 2004
Paonia - Lifetime North Fork area resident, David L. Minerich, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Delta County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 51.
A memorial service for family and friends is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2004, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia, Colorado. Services will conclude at the Chapel.
David L. Minerich was born on March 1, 1953, in Pueblo, Colorado, to John and Dwyla (Bennett) Minerich. He spent his childhood in Paonia and graduated from Paonia High School in 1971. He later attended Arizona Automotive Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated as a diesel mechanic.
Early in his life he worked in the coal mines with his father, but later turned more to farming and ranching. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors in general, bee - keeping with his father, and most of all his garden.
Survivors include his fiancé Derrinda Emmons of Paonia, CO; his mother Dwyla Minerich of Paonia, CO; and a sister Sandi Coutts of Lazear, CO. David is further survived by a niece Tamra Shiflet and nephew Brett Coutts both of Grand Junction, CO.
David was preceded in death by his father, John Minerich.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, PO Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.

Hazel Marie Miller
CEDAREDGE - Cedaredge resident, Hazel Marie Miller, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2004 at her home in Cedaredge.
A memorial service for Hazel will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church. Rev. Dale Lovette will officiate.
Hazel Marie Hester was born to the late Harry E. and Anna May (Young) Hester in Beaver City, Nebraska. Hazel spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Beaver City, NE. She graduated from the Kearney State Teacher’’s College in Kearney, Nebraska. Hazel served her country in the U.S. Navy from November 19, 1943 to July 14, 1945.
On March 27, 1977 in Edgewater, Colorado, Hazel married William L. Miller. He survives. Hazel and Bill have resided in Cedaredge, Colorado since 1983 coming from Littleton, Colorado.
Hazel retired as a receptionist for the civil service administration. She was a member of Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church, she was a member of the All Women’’s American Legion Post No. 206 in Aurora, Colorado, the Cedaredge Literacy Club, the Happy Bookers Club and a past member of the Colby Birthday Club. In 1975 Hazel served as Chaplain of the American Legion for the Department of Colorado.
Hazel enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Those grateful to have shared in Hazel’’s life are her husband of twenty - seven years, Bill Miller of Cedaredge, Colorado; two step - sons Patrick Miller and Philip Miller of Denver, CO; step - daughter Laurie Austin and husband Don of Montrose, CO; brother Max and wife Chalys Hester of Columbus, NE; and several nieces and nephews. Hazel is further survived by three grandchildren, David Miller and wife Nhu of Denver; Steven Miller and wife Kristie of Grand Junction; and Jennifer King and husband Kevin of Montrose; and also five great - grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and sister Margorie.

Robert Glynn Knight
December 7, 1920 - August 27, 2004
OLATHE - Robert G. Knight, a resident of Olathe, Colorado for the past three years, died on August 27, 2004, at the San Juan Living Care Center in Montrose, CO. He was 83.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints in Delta, CO. Interment will be at the Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colorado, and Branch President Dave Taylor will be officiating.
Robert Glynn Knight was born on December 7, 1920, to Henry Lamar and Angie (Hicks) Knight in Whitesboro, Texas. He spent his childhood in Wichita Falls, TX, Dallas, TX and Holiday, TX.
On September 30, 1950, Robert married the love of his life Dorothy Maurine Mask, in Salt Lake City, Utah. To this union four children were born.
Before moving to Olathe CO, Robert lived in Dallas, TX.
Robert worked for the City of Dallas in the Water Department. He enjoyed farming, mules, reading his Bible, and particularly telling stories and talking about the older members of his family.
Those grateful to have shared in Mr. Knights life include his sons, Mike Knight and his wife Debbe, Bill Knight and his wife Dale, all of Montrose, CO; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; two daughters, Carol Elaine Knight, and Marsha Knight; and one brother, Gordon Knight.
Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. 1804, Montrose Colorado, 81402.

George L. Harbick
December 25, 1922 - August 25, 2004
PAONIA - Paonia resident, George L. Harbick, 81, passed away at the Delta County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
A funeral service of liturgy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia, Colorado, with Father Bill Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with graveside rites by the Wilson - Head American Legion Post #97 of Paonia.
George L. Harbick was born on December 25, 1922, to Joseph and Leah (Picardi) Harbick in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He spent his childhood in Chippewa Falls and attended school there.
George married Georgiana Ritzinger on May 4, 1944, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The Harbicks lived in North Platte, Nebraska, Basalt, Colorado, and Littleton, Colorado, before moving to Paonia in 1995. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage this past May. She survives.
Mr. Harbick joined the United States Marines and served his country during World War II. He was a self - employed contractor and worked in the construction business. George loved working in the construction industry and gardening.
Those grateful to have shared in George’s life include his wife Georgiana Harbick of Paonia, CO; two sons: John J. Harbick and wife Liz of North Platte, NE, and Joe L. Harbick and wife Cathy of Durango, CO; four daughters: Sue E. Phillips of Scappoose, OR, Ann M. Dennis and husband Wayne of Aurora, CO, Mary P. Lee and husband Jeff of Paonia, CO, and Jean Barnes and husband Leonard of Hotchkiss, CO; and two sisters: Lois Frayer and Nora Skalany both of Chippewa Falls, WI. He is further survived by twenty - three grandchildren and twenty - one great - grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard G. Harbick; a daughter, Judy Zordel; two sisters: Marie Flint and Honey Porter; and a brother Bernard Harbick.
Memorial contributions may be made in George’s memory to the Wilson - Head American Legion Post # 97, P.O. Box 306, Paonia, CO 81428.
