Margaret Louise Mangum

Very Active DCMH Volunteer

Aug. 31, 1912 Jan. 29, 2000

DELTA - Margaret Louise Ellis was born on Aug. 31, 1912 in Haviland, Kan., the daughter of Walter B. and Lola (Gully) Ellis. She died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in her home at Delta at the age of 87.

Margaret spent her childhood and attended school in Haviland, Kan. until her senior year in high school when her family moved to Mission, Texas. She graduated from the Sharyland High School in Mission, Texas with the class of 1930. After graduating from high school, Margaret attended Edinburg Junior College in Edinburg, Texas, graduating in 1932.

She married L.T. Mangum on Aug. 31, 1934 in Edinburg, Texas. Margaret and L.T. celebrated 65 loving years of marriage last year in August.

They lived in Mission, Texas until 1949 and then moved to Ft. Stockton, Texas where they resided until 1959. In 1959, the Mangum family moved to Delta where Margaret made her home until the time of her death.

She was a former church board member, a past president of the United Methodist Women's Club, a past president of the Hospital Volunteers, a former secretary for the Jane Jefferson Club, and a former president of the Cowbelles. Margaret was also a very active volunteering with the Pink Ladies at the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, L.T. Mangum; two sons: Ralph Mangum and wife Pat; David Mangum, all of Delta; and one daughter, Betsy Stevens, of Seattle, Wash.

Margaret was the proud and loving grandmother of two granddaughters: Gina Cassel, of Delta; Vanir Stevens, of Seattle, Wash.; and the great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers: Gordon Ellis, Howard Ellis, and Norman Ellis.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mesa View Mortuary in Delta.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor and celebrate Margaret's life will be officiated by The Rev. Pat Malone on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. in the Delta United Methodist Church.

Interment will follow the service in the Delta City Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta; (970) 874-8633.

Martha Levada Gray

Mother, Grandmother, Sister

Nov. 19, 1923 Jan. 31, 2000

HOTCHKISS - Martha Levada Gray, age 76, a homemaker and resident of Hotchkiss for over 65 years, died on Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Born on Nov. 19, 1923 in Colorado, Martha Levada Harris was the daughter of Edgar Lee and Hester Ella (Love) Harris. She graduated from the Hotchkiss High School and lived in Hotchkiss for over 65 years until the time of her death.

Martha married Cecil Leroy Gray who preceded her in death in November of 1982.

She greatly loved, enjoyed, and was a big supporter of the Denver Broncos football team.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann and husband Pablo Lorenzana, of Hotchkiss; and one grandchild.

Other family survivors include one brother, Vernon Harris and wife Ellen, of Rangely.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Charles Gray; and one brother, Lee Harris.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Martha's life will be officiated by The Rev. Judi Taylor on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Hotchkiss Taylor Funeral Service Chapel.

Terry Wayne Frasier

Former Montrose Resident

Aug. 22, 1945 Jan. 27, 2000

AURORA - Former Montrose resident, Terry Wayne Frasier, age 54, a resident of Aurora for 10 years, died on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in the Medical Center of Aurora.

Terry Wayne Frasier, the son of Ralph and Gwendolyn (Guild) Frasier, was born on Aug. 22, 1945, in Montrose, Colo., where he spent his childhood, graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1963, and grew to adulthood.

Terry proudly served his country in the United States Army.

After 16 years in the military, Terry was employed with the United States Government in Personnel Records.

He lived in Montrose, in several different places during his time in the military, and then made his home in Aurora for 10 years until the time of his death.

Terry married Katie Fransua on May 5, 1999 in Montrose.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

Among the many things in life that brought happiness to Terry were fishing, traveling, and watching the Denver Broncos on T.V.

Survivors so very grateful to share Terry's life are his wife, Katie Frasier, of Aurora; three sons: Terry Frasier Jr. and wife Christin, of Denver; Tracy Frasier, of Montrose; Donny Frasier and wife Vicky, of Grand Junction; one granddaughter, Samantha Frasier, of Grand Junction; six stepchildren and five stepgrandchildren, all of Denver.

Other family survivors include his parents, Ralph and Gwen Frasier, of Montrose; two sisters: Sandra and husband Bob Wallace, also of Montrose; Betty and husband Bob Taylor, of Grand Junction; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor and celebrate Terry's life will be officiated by Pastor Mike Lundberg on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow the service in the Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose, with Military Graveside Rites being conducted by local Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose; (970) 249-2121.

Mildred Edna Egry

Lifetime Montrose Co. Resident

MONTROSE - Mildred Edna Egry, a homemaker and a lifetime Montrose County resident, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2000, in the San Juan Living Center at Montrose at the age of 87.

Mildred Edna Waugh was born in Olathe, Colo. on July 27, 1912, the daughter of Clark L. and Ida M. (Jutten) Waugh. She spent her childhood in Montrose County and attended the Uncompahgre Country School.

Mildred married Fred Egry who preceded her in death at Montrose.

She greatly loved and enjoyed music and crafts.

Survivors include one son, Melvin G. Kelley and wife Joyce, of Littleton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was also preceded in death by two sons: Paul V. and Gary Killian; three brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Mildred's life will be officiated by The Rev. Dan Huber on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. in the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow the service in the Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose, with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose; (970) 249-2121.

Liesbeth M. Daily

Retired Restaurant Cook

Dec. 1, 1927 Jan. 29, 2000

DELTA - Liesbeth M. Daily, age 72, of Delta, died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Liesbeth was born in Olan, Germany on Dec. 1, 1927, the daughter of Margarite Gabel.

In 1955, she married Herbert Daily in Badenhausen, Germany. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

Liesbeth had lived in Delta on and off since 1956.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook in restaurants.

Liesbeth is survived by her former husband, Herbert Daily, of Delta.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Arrangements were handled under the direction of the Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta; (970) 874-8633.

Orpha Rose Albright

Owner of Crawford Kitchen

July 24, 1915 Jan. 27, 2000

CRAWFORD - Former Hotchkiss resident, Orpha Rose Albright, a homemaker and resident of Crawford since 1963, died on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at her home in Crawford at the age of 84.

Orpha Rose Kauffman, the daughter of Jesse M. and Anna (Neuenschwander) Kauffman, was born on July 24, 1915, in Garden City, Mo., where she spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood.

In 1935 Orpha married Dale Pearce. The marriage later ended in divorce.

She married Guy Albright in June of 1949 in Denver, Colo. Orpha and Guy were privileged to share 50 years of marriage last year in June.

Orpha lived in Hotchkiss from 1956 to 1963. She then moved to Crawford where she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, on Oct. 7, 1986.

In addition to being a homemaker, Orpha owned the Crawford Kitchen and was the first woman to serve on the Crawford Town Council.

She was a member of the Hotchkiss First Baptist Church, a charter member of the Crawford Fire Auxiliary, and was instrumental in starting the formation of the present day fire department and auxiliary.

Orpha received great pleasure from sewing, cooking, gardening, and playing games.

Survivors left to cherish Orpha's memory are four sons: Ronald J. Pearce, of Center; Richard H. Pearce and wife Carolyn, of Moses Lake, Wash.; Robert Pearce and wife Margaret, of Crawford; Russell D. Pearce, of Rifle; and one daughter, Susan and husband James Ayer, of Crawford.

Orpha was the proud and loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and the great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren.

Other family survivors include one sister, Ruth and husband Lloyd Hartzler, of Indian Wells, Calif.

In addition to her parents and husband, Guy Albright, Orpha was also preceded in death by one son, Guy "Bub" Albright; one daughter, Mary Ann Pearce; one sister, Naomi Kauffman; and six brothers: Lester, Jesse, David, Vincent, Wallace, and Robert Kauffman.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor Orpha's life will be officiated by The Rev. Bill Stoddard on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Hotchkiss First Baptist Church. The service will conclude at the church.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.; (970) 872-3151.

Duane Lee May

Former Montrose Resident

Jan. 14, 1918 Jan. 31, 2000

MIDLAND, Texas - Former Montrose resident, Duane Lee May, died on Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in a local Midland, Texas hospital 17 days after celebrating his 82nd birthday.

Duane Lee May was born in Colebrook, Ohio on Jan. 14, 1918, the son of Monroe and Pearl (Frantz) May.

On June 17, 1944, Duane married Marjorie Mortimer in Camp Walters, Texas. They were the parents of three sons and would have shared 57 loving years of marriage this year in June.

The Mays moved from Montrose to Midland, Texas, seven years ago where Duane made his home until the time of his death.

Survivors very grateful to have shared Duane's life are his wife, Marjorie May; one son, David B. May and wife, Roxie; and one grandson, Michael May, all of Midland, Texas.

Other family survivors include his mother, Pearl F. May; and one brother, Carl W. May, both of Lakeland, Fla.

Duane was preceded in death by his father, Monroe May; two sons: John and Richard May; and his twin brother, Dwight May.

No funeral services are scheduled at this time.

At the family's request, memorial contributions in memory of Duane may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Wilma Ione Stewart

Wife, Mother, Grandmother

April 5, 1933 Jan. 31, 2000

CEDAREDGE - Wilma Ione Stewart, age 66, a homemaker and resident of Cedaredge since 1995, died on Monday, Jan. 31, 2000 at her home in Cedaredge.

Wilma Ione Hoschouer was born in Frontier County, Neb., on April 5, 1933, the daughter of Ira and Eva (Mullen) Hoschouer. She spent her childhood in the State of Washington and Denver, graduated from South High School in Denver with the Class of 1952, and grew to adulthood there.

Wilma married Bruce Stewart on Aug. 6, 1953 in the territory of Hawaii. Wilma and Bruce lovingly welcomed two sons born to their union and celebrated 46 years of marriage last year in August.

After being born in Nebraska and living for a time in the State of Washington, Wilma then moved with her family to Denver where she lived until retirement in 1995. The Stewarts moved to Cedaredge in 1995 where Wilma made her home until the time of her death.

She was a past member of the Denver chapter of the Colorado Archeological Society.

Among Wilma's special interests that brought her much happiness and enjoyment during her lifetime were: Needlework, sewing, knitting, and ceramics.

Survivors very grateful to have shared Wilma's life are her husband, Bruce Stewart, of Cedaredge; two sons: Kirk Stewart and wife Irene, of Crawford; Kerry Stewart and wife Cheryl, of Arvada; and four grandchildren: Heather Stewart, Joshua Stewart, Jeremiah Stewart, and Kristofer Stewart.

Other family survivors include one brother, Warren Hoschouer and wife Sue; and one sister, Margie and husband Ken Dumolt, of Eugene, Ore.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Eva Hoschouer; and one sister, Zona Lesly.

Funeral Services in loving remembrance and to honor and celebrate Wilma's life will be officiated by R. Wayne Eklund on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Cedaredge Taylor Funeral Service Chapel.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.; (970) 874-9988.
