Harley R. Hagen
October 29, 1924 - August 23, 2004
PAONIA - Paonia resident, Harley R. Hagen, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2004, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle, Colorado. He was 79.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 11, 2004, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia with James Gall officiating. Services will conclude at the Chapel.
Harley Richard Hagen was born on October 29, 1924, to Andrew and Alice (Rapp) Hagen in Mauston, Wisconsin. He spent his childhood in Mauston and Reedsburg, Wisconsin, and attended schools in both cities.
Harley married Loreen Stoeckmann on February 21, 1947, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. They have been residents of Paonia for the past sixteen years and had celebrated fifty - seven years of marriage together this year. She survives.
Mr. Hagen was a truck driver and retired in May of 1988. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Paonia. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. They had served as camp hosts at Blue Mesa in Gunnison, Colorado, for five years and Crawford Reservoirs for one year.
Those grateful to have shared in Harley’s life include his wife, Loreen Hagen of Paonia, CO; two sons: Bruce Hagen and his wife Diane of Grand Junction, CO, and Robert Hagen and his wife Ryma of Rialto, CA: one daughter, Brenda Manchester of Sydney, NB. He is further survived by eight grandchildren.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Shirley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 413, Paonia, CO, 81428, or to Parkinson Association of the Rockies, Stem Cell Research, 1420 Ogden St., Suite 201, Denver, CO 80218.

Alice M. Ware
August 18, 2004 - August 20, 2004
DELTA - Lifelong Delta County resident, Alice Ware, passed away at her residence on Friday, August 20, 2004. She was 56.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss, Colorado. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 25th at the Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss with Rev. Fred Reed officiating.
Alice Marie Ware was born to Lawrence and Velma (Pettis) Ware on August 18, 1948, in Hotchkiss, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Hotchkiss and graduated from high school there. She spent a short period of time in Arizona and Kansas but returned to Delta where she remained the rest of her life.
Alice enjoyed the outdoors, animals, and plants. She especially loved being with her grandchildren.
Survivors grateful to have shared in Alice’s life include three sons: Gary Walls and his wife Stephany of Yuma, AZ, Tommy Amerson and his wife April of Delta, CO, and Michael Hall of Burlington, CO; and one daughter, Barbara Martinez and her husband Juan of Forthood, TX; eight brothers: Lawrence Ware and his wife Helen Myddelton - Ware of Sterling, AK, Steve Ware and his wife Sheila, Jim Ware and his wife Gayle all of Hotchkiss, CO, Sherman Ware and Johnny Ware both of Naturita, CO, Donnie Myddelton and his wife Joyce of Missouri, Robert Myddelton, and Frank Myddelton and his wife Babe all of Sterling, AK; two sisters: Glenda Hansen and her husband Niels of Delta, CO, and Linda Bell and her husband Rocky of Sterling, AK. She is further survived by ten grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Anna Ware; and two sons: Carl Cook and Jimmy Amerson.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Steven S. (Jameson) Sachin
Dec. 31, 1963 - Aug. 19, 2004
Delta resident, Steven S. Sachin died, August 19, 2004 at his residence. He was 40.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, August 25th at 11:30 a.m., at the Fellowship Church in Grand Junction, Colorado. Pastor Tim Roseberry will preside. Services will conclude at the church.
Steven Stuart Sachin was born on December 31, 1963, in Walnut Creek, California, to Irwin N. and Berta (Fleischer) Sachin. He spent his younger years in Grand Junction and Fruita, attending Broadway School and Fruita Jr. High School. He graduated in 1982 from Fruita Monument High School.
Steve was a musician. After graduation he traveled with Elik Pink & The Dolls as the bass player until he was 21. He then moved to Hollywood, California, where he worked for the Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard. There he became the youngest manager ever. Steve remained in Hollywood, putting together “The Bats”. The band grew to one of Hollywood’s most popular groups, taking Steve to Bangkok, Amsterdam, and other major cities. His group also did a sound track for a major feature film and he appeared in a film with Richard Harris.
Steve moved back to Grand Junction to raise his daughter. He then moved to Florida staying a short time and then returned to Grand Junction. He finally settled in Delta, Colorado, where he married Gina DePirro on July 24, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Gina Sachin of Delta; his daughter, Rachelle Sachin of Grand Junction; his mother, Berta Jameson of Olathe, CO; one sister, Mindy Liepitz and husband Ed Feinberg and one brother, Johnathan Jameson and wife Marinda, all of Grand Junction; his step father Jack Jameson of Grand Junction; one step - sister, Joi Stockert of Fruita; and one step - brother, Richard Jameson and wife Tonette of Salt Lake City, UT. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Sachin, his father, Irwin Sachin and a step sister, Denice Atencio.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Uldene Louise Langston
August 31, 1916 - August 18, 2004
PAONIA - Longtime Paonia resident, Uldene "Louise" Langston, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Paonia Care and Rehab Center in Paonia. She was 87.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time for the service on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints in Paonia, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., at the church with Bishop Charlie Huff presiding. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Paonia.
Uldene Louise Coombs was born on August 31, 1916, to Ephraim William and Elizabeth (Reid) Coombs in Morgan, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Morgan in Conejos County which was located in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. She attended a little one room schoolhouse through the eighth grade.
Louise married John Merlin Langston on January 24, 1935, in Manassa, Colorado. In 1943, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, and then came to Paonia in 1969, where they have made their residence since that time. To this union was born three sons and five daughters. John preceded his wife in death on March 20, 1981, in Paonia, Colorado.
Louise was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints in Paonia. She loved to embroidery, crochet, do quilts and tatting. Her other enjoyments included reading, playing the piano, and singing.
Those grateful to have shared in Louise’s life include three sons: Keith Langston and his wife Janet, Jim Langston and his wife Linda all of Snowflake, AZ, and Jess Langston and his wife Sherri of Phoenix, AZ; five daughters: Janet Goodman and her husband Jim of Flagstaff, AZ, Betha Holyoak and her husband Wilford of Paonia, CO, Sharon Shawcroft and her husband Curtis of Orem, UT, Sally Scott and her husband Gary of Snowflake, AZ, and Laura Rogers and her husband Garry of Hotchkiss, CO; and four sister - in - laws: Winnibell Vance of Lubbock, TX, Doris Kirkham of Belen, NM, Fay Langston of Mesa, AZ, and Serena Langston of Phoeniz, AZ. She is further survived by thirty - six grandchildren, fifty - eight great - grandchildren and one great - great - grandchild.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; five brothers; and seven sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made in Louise’s memory to the North Fork Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 127, Hotchkiss, CO 81419.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Donald Edwin Perkins
October 8, 1936 - August 18, 2004
AUSTIN - Lifelong Delta County resident, Donald Perkins, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at his residence in Austin, Colorado. He was 67.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 20th at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado. Rev. Max Kendrick will preside. Services will conclude at the church.
Donald Edwin Perkins was born on October 8, 1936, to Orval and Grace (Chambers) Perkins in Eckert, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Eckert and Cedaredge, and graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy from March of 1956 to February of 1960.
On March 11, 1960 in Eckert, Colorado, Donald married Shirley Annette “Ann” Berry. She survives.
Donald was self employed for forty three years owning his own refrigeration business in Delta County. He also worked for Delta County Memorial Hospital as a HVAC mechanic for the past fifteen years.
Mr. Perkins was a member of the Cedaredge Men’s Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Those grateful to have shared in Donald’s life include his wife, Ann Perkins of Austin, CO; two daughters: Brenda Perkins of Grand Junction, CO and Beth Myers and her husband Rod of Delta, CO; and sister Marjorie Neill of Ogallalla, NE. He is further survived by two grandchildren Mandy and Megan Myers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.

Ruth J. Johnson
June 23, 1928 - August 13, 2004
PAONIA - Paonia resident, Ruth J. Johnson, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 76.
A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21st at the Seventh - day Adventist Church in Paonia. Pastor Don Anderson will preside. Services will conclude at the church.
Ruth Jeanne Dovich was born June 23, 1928 in Makoti, Ward County, North Dakota to the late George and Hannah (Gruzensky) Dovich. She spent her childhood in Makoti and in Douglas, North Dakota. Ruth graduated from Sheyenne River High School in Harvey, North Dakota. She continued her education attending Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and Minot Teachers College, where she earned her teaching certificate. In 1950, she graduated from Pacific Union College in California with a degree in music and education.
On June 15, 1952 in Minot, North Dakota, Ruth married Robert Johnson. He survives. Over their lifetime together, they resided in Boulder, Colorado, Hinsdale, Illinois, and Madison, Tennessee. They moved to Paonia in 1994 after having lived in Mexican Hat, Utah.
Ruth was an Elementary School Teacher. She retired in 1994 after 26 years of teaching in private and public schools. She was a member of the Seventh - day Adventist Church in Paonia and the Quilter’s Clubs in both Paonia and Hotchkiss. Her interests included sewing, quilting, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of over 52 years, Robert Johnson of Paonia; four sons and their spouses, Delmer and Karis Johnson of Westminster, CO, Malcolm “Dean” and Connie Marie Johnson of Longmont, CO, Lyndon and Pam Johnson of Jacksonville, FL and Jay Robert and Irena Johnson of Hopewell, NJ. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Kayla, Grant, Katrina and Collin.
Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by five brothers.

Chester A. Craig Sr.
March 24, 1922 - August 11, 2004
CEDAREDGE - Cedaredge resident, Chester A. Craig Sr., died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 82.
A visitation is planned from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge.
Chester A. Craig Sr. was born on March 24, 1922 in McAllister, Oklahoma to the late Chester and Matilda (Birdsong) Craig. He spent his childhood and attended school in Vivian, LA. Chester served his country in the Navy.
On March 29, 1941, in Marshall, Texas, Chester married Kathryn Burgess. They had resided in many locations including Long View, Jefferson, and Corpus Cristie, TX as well as many other areas having had moved around due to Chester’s job as a salesman for PGAS, an oil exploration company. In 1991, Chester and Kathryn moved to Cedaredge, Colorado.
Chester enjoyed chopping wood, going to the mountains and loved to visit with people. He attended the Happy Hollow Church of Christ in Cedaredge, Colorado.
Those grateful to have shared in Chester’s life are his wife of sixty - three years Kathryn Craig of Cedaredge, CO and a son Allen Craig and his wife Bridget of Grand Junction, CO. Chester is further survived by three grandchildren, Sheri Worthington and husband Ray of Montrose, CO; Cathy Anderson and husband Alan of Lamar, CO; and Jackie LaDou and husband James of Grand Junction, CO.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Harold Lee Hanna
February 26, 1934 - August 4, 2004
HOTCHKISS - Longtime Hotchkiss resident, Harold Lee Hanna, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 70.
A visitation is planned for Tuesday, August 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. A funeral service will be held at the Taylor Chapel in Delta at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 11th. Bill Austin will preside. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss.
Harold Lee Hanna was born on February 26, 1934 in Wellington, Utah to Jack Darwin and Helen (Olson) Hanna. He spent his childhood in Wellington and graduated from high school in Carbon County, Utah. Following graduation, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean War.
On May 25, 1952 in Wellington, Utah, Harold married Darla Olsen. She survives. During their lifetime together, they traveled throughout the western United States, for Harold’s work. They moved to Hotchkiss 18 years ago. In 1994, Harold retired as a superintendent from Peter Kiewit Construction Company in Phoenix, Arizona where he was employed for 22 years.
Mr. Hanna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints in Paonia and a member of the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge #1807. His interests included hunting, fishing, farming and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors who were blessed and honored to share in Harold’s life include his beloved wife of 53 years, Darla Hanna of Hotchkiss; four sons: Keith Hanna and Jack Hanna, both of Hotchkiss, Chris Hanna and wife Jan and Kenneth Hanna and wife Charlsa, all of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Carol Fluckiger and husband Duane of Salt Lake City, UT; and two brothers, Wayne Hanna and wife Loretta of Ellisville, MO and Blake Hanna and wife Myrna of Price, UT. Harold is further survived by nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hanna was preceded in death by his father, Jack D. Hanna.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
