Dale G. Lopez
November 21, 1946 - September 1, 2004
UTAH- Former North Fork area resident, Dale Gilbert Lopez, 57, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday, September 1, 2004.
Dale Gilbert Lopez was born on November 21, 1946, to Ramon Ismael and Edith Ann (Madril) Lopez in Alamosa, Colorado.
He married Carol E. Sisneros on July 27, 1965, in Price Utah. She survives.
Dale was a dedicated member of the Jehovah Witnesses and his pleasure was to spread the word of Jehovah to his loved ones and to anyone with an open ear. Dale was a most giving person and when the need arose he was always there.
Those grateful to have shared in Dale’s life include his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Carol Lopez of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Carollee Borceguin; and four sons: Dale Lopez, Jr. and his wife Sandra, Joshua R. Lopez, Isaiah Lopez, and Ezekial Lopez; his parents: Ramon and Edith Ann Lopez of Paonia, CO; brothers: Tony Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Duane Lopez and Allen Lopez and his wife Janet. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Alicia, Samuel, Joslin, Dale III, Jacob, Sheldon, Elisha, and Aspen.
Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Ramon Valentine Lopez; and a sister, Veronica Joyce Lopez.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 4th at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 11th at Bethlehem Cemetery in Paonia, Colorado.
Local arrangements are being handled by Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Bertha Largent
Dec. 28, 1903 - Sept. 11, 2004
PUEBLO- Former Longtime Paonia resident, Bertha Largent died Saturday, September 11, 2004, in Pueblo, Colorado. She was 100 years old.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 17th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia. James Gall will preside. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia.
Bertha Cridlebaugh was born on December 28, 1903, in Cloud County, Kansas, to the late Abraham Lincoln and Matie Jane Cridlebaugh. She spent her childhood and attended school in Kansas.
On March 17, 1927, in Hugoton, Kansas, Bertha married Noah C. Largent. They moved to Paonia in 1937. Noah preceded her in death on July 8, 1956, in Hotchkiss, Colorado.
Survivors include two daughters: Zelma Nielsen and husband Larry of Pueblo, CO and Willa Huff and husband Ron of Ceres, CA; three sons: Gaylord Largent and wife Karen of Germany, Kenneth Largent of Crane, TX and James Largent and wife Judy of Paonia. Mrs. Largent is further survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lee Largent; three brothers, five sisters, two granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Raymond Eugene Howard
April 8, 1941 - Sept. 17, 2004
OLATHE- Longtime Olathe resident, Raymond E. Howard, died Friday, September 17, 2004 at his home. He was 63.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 21st at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Bruce Martin and Rob Roy will preside. Interment will follow at the Pea Green Cemetery.
Raymond Eugene Howard was born on April 8, 1941 in Avery, Oklahoma to the late Floyd Bird and Linda Mae (Porter) Howard. He spent his childhood in Parkland, Oklahoma and attended school there and in Agra, Oklahoma.
On February 5, 1960, in Olathe, Colorado, Ray married Carrol Byers. She survives.
Ray could certainly be called a “Jack of All Trades”, as he was very mechanically inclined, able to repair anything from a lawn mower to heavy equipment. He was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Delta, Colorado. His interests included hunting, fishing and exploring with his metal detector.
Survivors grateful to have shared in Ray’s life include his wife of over 44 years, Carrol Howard of Olathe; three daughters: Rama Martin and husband Bruce and MaLinda Roy and husband Rob, all of Montrose, CO, and Leila Blake and husband Perry of Cory, CO; two sons: Steve Howard and wife Lori of Montrose and Brad Howard of Olathe; four sisters: Ruby Evans and husband Jack of Casa Grande, AZ, Lawanda Lockhart and husband Palmer of Welling, OK, Bessie Byers of Montrose and Violet Byers and husband Chuck of Delta; two brothers: Melvin Howard and wife Kit of Hooker, OK and Ellis Howard and wife Glory of Commerce City, CO.
Mr. Howard is further survived by ten granddaughters, six grandsons, two step grandsons and their wives and eight step great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers: Benny, Bud and Dicky Howard.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Loretta Jean Garhart
September 25, 1941 - October 17, 2004
DELTA- Delta County resident, Loretta J. Garhart, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004, at the Delta County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 63 years old.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel with James Gall officiating. Services will conclude at the Chapel.
Loretta Jean Jones was born on September 25, 1941, to Elmer Curtis and Opal Merle (Babcock) Jones in Oak Creek, Colorado. She spent her childhood traveling with her parents in Grand and Route County as her father worked in the timber industry. She attended school in the areas where they lived during this time
On December 25, 1958, Loretta married Charles Harry Garhart in Westminster, Colorado. They moved from Boulder to Delta, where they have resided for the past eighteen years. The Garharts had celebrated forty-five years of marriage together. He survives.
Loretta owned and operated Kris’ Restaurant in Delta and she had worked as either a cook or waitress in most of the Delta restaurants. She was of the Protestant faith. Loretta enjoyed gardening, craft projects and being a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to make her children’s clothes. She had been actively involved in the High School Band Parents organization in Boulder and then in Delta for eleven years.
Those grateful to have shared in Loretta’s life include her husband, Charles Garhart of Delta, CO; three sons: Daniel Garhart and wife Caroline of Lyons, CO, Matthew Garhart and his wife Kimberly of Ft. Collins, CO, and Alexander Garhart and his wife Amanda of Grand Junction, CO; three daughters: Charlene Kohn and her husband Jack of Portsmouth, NH, Cheryl Walters of Canon City, CO, and Kristina Sloss and her husband Mark of Branchburg, NJ; her mother, Opal Jones of Center, CO; a brother, William Jones and his wife Sheliah of Kremmling, CO; and a sister, Marilyn Beiriger and her husband Gary of Center, CO. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delta High School Band, 1400 Pioneer Rd. Delta, CO 81416
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Edgar H. White
April 20, 1925 - November 13, 2004
DELTA- Delta resident, Edgar H. White, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. He was 79 years of age.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17th at the Delta First Church of God. Pastor Tommy Grimes will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction. The Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard will perform military honors.
Edgar Harrison White was born on April 20, 1925, in Burr Oak, Kansas, to the late Jesse Harrison and Nettie Ellen (Rhoe) White. He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Burr Oak. Following graduation, Edgar enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served during World War II as a Private First Class. During his military service he was awarded an American Theater Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and an EAME Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars.
On December 21, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, Edgar married Glenna Smith. She survives. During their life together they resided in Eckert and Pueblo, Colorado. They returned to Delta County in 1997.
Mr. White retired in 1986 from the United States Department of Treasury where he worked as a Technician in the United States Mint for 26 years. He was a member of the Delta First Church of God and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. His interests included reading and anything mechanical, especially cars, balances and compasses.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 54 years, Glenna S. White of Delta, CO; and one daughter, Ellen Kay Rempel and husband Daniel of McCook, NB. He is further survived by four grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and two nephews and their spouses.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother: Ethel Turner, Pearl Nansel, Lydia Boyd, June House and Charlie White.
Memorial contributions may be made to Delta First Church of God, 1102 Howard St., Delta, CO 81416.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Douglas C. Herbison
October 31, 1951 - December 4, 2004
DELTA- Longtime Delta resident, Douglas C. Herbison, died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at his home. He was 53 years of age.
Services are not planned at this time.
Douglas Charles Herbison was born on October 31, 1951, in Winner, South Dakota, to Charles Robert and Virginia (Hann) Herbison. He spent his childhood in the Denver area and graduated from Wheatridge High School in 1969. He continued his education attending the University of Northern Colorado.
On September 30, 1989, in Delta, Douglas married Cynthia Diana Conger. She survives.
Mr. Herbison was employed at Gibson’s for 18 years in the sporting goods department. There, he enjoyed talking to customers about all the “Big Ones” that got away. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish, camp at Lake Powell and hike on the Uncompahgre Plateau.
Surviors include his wife Cynthia D. Herbison of Delta; two daughters: Brandi Dawn Herbison and Amanda Jayne Herbison, both of Delta; one son, Charles Everett Herbison of Delta; his mother, Virginia Herberson of Grand Junction, CO; three sisters: Mary Ann Passerine and husband Steve of Walnut Grove, CA, Jean Herbison of Grand Junction, CO and Barbara Gray and husband Steve of Golden, CO. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Herbison; two infant sons, Daniel and Adam and one brother, Jeffrey Herbison.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

Elisabeth Salzgeber
April 5, 1924 - December 7, 2004
Crawford - Delta County resident, Elisabeth Salzgeber passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at her home in Crawford, Colorado. She was 80 years old.
A memorial service will be held in Steamboat Springs on Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Olympian Hall, from 11:30 -2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to "Second Harvest" / The Food Bank of the Rockies, 10975 E. 47th Ave., Denver, Colorado 80239. Elisabeth Kettiger was born on April 5, 1924 on the east coast of Sumatra, to the late Arnold and Anna (Haefliger) Kettiger.. At the age of six, her family moved back to Switzerland, where she attend and graduated school. After finishing high school, Elisabeth attended a gardening college for three years. During World War II, she was a gardening instructor in Zurich Switzerland, where people would come to learn how to grow vegetables. They would turn their yards and city parks into vegetable gardens, to provide needed food.
On April 22, 1950, in Zurich, Switzerland, Elisabeth married Rudy Salzgeber. They then traveled to Ganado, AZ, on the Navaho Indian Reservation, where she enjoyed working in the childrens' ward of the hospital, and managed the campus laundry with the high school girls. Next, they moved to Denver, CO where they lived for twenty-five years, built a home, and raised their four children. Their next adventure took them to Steamboat Springs, CO, where they owned and operated Ski Town Campground, and over the next twenty-two years they welcomed nine grandchildren.
The past three years, they lived in Crawford, CO. Elisabeth attended the Crawford Community United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Needle Rock Club, and enjoyed volunteering at the thrift shop in Crawford. Elisabeth enjoyed being a housewife and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Those grateful to have shared in Elisabeth’s life are her husband, Rudy Salzgeber of Crawford, CO; son Ulrich Salzgeber and wife Janet of Steamboat Springs, CO; three daughters, Christina Lehr and husband Bob of San Francisco, CA; Ursula Miller and husband Mark of Loveland, CO; and Ruth Wentzel and husband Jeff of Crawford, CO; brother Arnold Kettiger and wife Heidi of Switzerland. Elisabeth is further survived by nine grandchildren, Elisabeth and Anya Salzgeber, both of Steamboat Springs, CO, Nicole and Samuel Miller of Loveland, CO, Patrick Miller of Switzerland, Emily McCormick of Colorado Springs, and Lucas, Martin and Corina Wentzel, all of Crawford
Elisabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Ernst Kettiger.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
