Alarid, Annie - - (1919 - 2004)

Annie Marie Alarid of Delta died on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 84.

Mrs. Alarid was born on April 9, 1919, in Trinidad, to Emelio and Adella (Herrera) Abeyta. She moved to Delta when she was seven.

She married Tony A. Alarid on July 8, 1935, in Delta. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Alarid was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and listening to music.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Louie and Margaret Alarid of Clearfield, Utah, David and Donna Alarid of Ogden, Utah, and Raymond and Teresa Alarid of Salt Lake City, Utah; four brothers, Lupe Abeyta, Joe Abeyta and Jimmy Abeyta, all of Delta, and Emelio Abeyta Jr. of Ogden, Utah; four sisters, Lena Garcia and Rosie Abeyta, both of Delta, Delfina Puredeo of Ogden, Utah, and Mary Calics of Aberdean, Wash.; several grandchildren; and several great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Alarid was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Alarid, and three
Rosary was recited on April 5, at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel, Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 6. Burial followed at Mesa View Mortuary - Cemetery.

Mesa View Mortuary - Cemetery handled the arrangements.

Dillion, Charles - - (1921 - 2004)

Charles Eugene Dillon of Concrete, Wash., died on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Wash. He was 82.

He was born on June 7, 1921, in Montrose, to Asa and Alice (Markley) Dillon. He spent his childhood in Delta, graduating from Delta High School in 1939. He attended the University of Colorado until 1942, when he entered the U.S. Army Air Force. He served during World War II until 1946. He returned to college and earned a bachelor of arts degree in education in 1952. In 1953, in earned his master's in education from the University of Colorado.

Mr. Dillon was a doctoral candidate for education administration from 1956 to 1971. He worked in education for many years as a teacher, principal and superintendent in Colorado, Alaska, Montana and Washington. He was the superintendent of schools in Concrete, Wash., from 1971 to 1976.

He was named in Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in American Education, and Leaders of Secondary Education. He was the president of the Ravalli County, Mont., Education Association. He served as chairman of the Salvation Army and United Way fund drive. He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and Lions Club.

Mr. Dillon enjoyed playing poker and pinochle and remodeling houses.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Lauree Dillon of Concrete, Wash.; two daughters, Shannon Kleinhuizen and her husband Scott of Ione, Wash., and Colleen Vickers of Tenino, Wash.; a son and his wife, James and Marty Dillon of Brockton, Mont.; six grandchildren, Jason Kleinhuizen, Jenny Kleinhuizen, Chaz Dillon, Kari Dillon, Caitlin Dillon and Dee Vickers; a great - grandchild, Meshayla Barrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle Dillon, Roy Dillon and Earl Dillon; a sister, Irene; and an adopted sister, Irene Frossard.

A memorial service was held on March 13, at St. Catherine's CCD Center in Concrete, Wash., with Pastor Tom Ross of Mt. Baker Presbyterian Church officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Concrete Lions Scholarship Fund.

Gibson, Charles - - (1911 - 2004)

Charles Kirker Gibson of Montrose died on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at his home. He was 92.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Montrose Christian
Church, and in Sun City, Ariz. Inurnment will be at Sundland Memorial Park in Sun City, Ariz.
Mr. Gibson was born on Sept. 21, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert Leon and Mary Luella (Kirker) Gibson. He spent his childhood in Douglas, Ariz. He graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, Mo.

He married Helen Margaret Marvel on June 19, 1937, in Winfield, Kan. She died on July 25, 1990, in Sun City, Ariz. He then married Molly Nadine Maxwell on Feb. 16, 1991, in Sun City, Ariz. She survives.

Mr. Gibson was a manufacturer's representative and sales person for Ft. Howard Paper Company. He later worked in the real estate business.

He was a member of Montrose Christian Church, the Rotary, Masons and Shriners. He enjoyed reading, helping others, drama groups and visiting museums.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Molly Gibson of Montrose; a son and his wife, Kirk and Gwen Gibson of El Sorito, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Al March of Fayetteville, Ga.; a brother, William Robert Gibson of Oro Valley, Ariz.; a stepson and his wife, Danny and Dana LaBarr ; a stepdaughter and her husband, Lori and Scott Bruggeman; 15 grandchildren; and one great - grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Gibson; and a brother, Franklin Richard Gibson.

Hadley, Glennamae - - (1928 - 2004)

Glennamae "Totsy" Hadley of Las Cruces, N.M., died on Sunday, March 27, 2004, at Cottonbloom Assisted Living Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Hadley was born on Dec. 2, 1928, to Henry and Irene Scott. She spent her childhood in Hotchkiss and graduated from Paonia High School. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver.

She married Jack Hadley on Dec. 12, 1947, in Kent, Wash. He died on Jan. 28, 1989.

Mrs. Hadley moved to Aurora in 1954, to Nebraska in 1981, and to Las Cruces, N.M., in 1996, to be near her daughter. She moved to Cottonbloom Assisted Living Center in 2000.

She was a volunteer with the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., and a lifetime member of the auxiliary to the American Veterinary Medical Association. She enjoyed dancing, singing, country music, attending her first rodeo and the changing colors of the Organ mountains.

Mrs. Hadley is survived by three sons and their wives, Scott and Brenda Hadley of Gibson, La., John and Claudia Hadley of Las Cruces, N.M., and Dr. Terrell and Kathy Hadley of Atwood, Kan.; a daughter, Tracy Hadley of Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Shanna Pollock and her husband Chris of Louisville, Ky., Nicole Hadley of Las Cruces, N.M., Ryan Hadley, Miranda Hadley, Elise Hadley, Tia Hadley and Shay Hadley, all of Atwood, Kan.; a great - granddaughter, Hadley Pollock of Louisville, Kan.; and two sisters, Betty Scott of Las Vegas, Nev., and Barbara Vahrenwald and her husband Mike of Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack Hadley; a daughter, Sheri Kay; and a brother, Robert Scott.

A memorial service was held on April 3, at Cottonbloom Assisted Living Center in Las Cruces, N.M. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jack and Totsy Hadley Memorial Fund for Animals, c/o Dr. Carol Calista of Calista Animal Hospital, 162 Wyatt Drive,

Las Cruces, NM 88005. The funds will be used to help provide supplemental financial assistance to pet owners in the Las Cruces and Do–a Ana County areas.

Hixson, Vivian - - (1922 - 2004)

Vivian "Suzy" M. Hixson of Delta died on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at her residence. She was 81.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Taylor
Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, with Darrel Johnson officiating. Services will be performed by members of Order of Eastern Star Garnet Chapter #39. A private inurnment will take place at Delta City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hixson was born on Aug. 4, 1922, on a homestead near Aztec, N.M., to Dell and Bertha (Boyce) McWilliams. She spent her childhood and attended grade school in Aztec, N.M. She graduated from Durango High School in 1940.

She married David Hixson on Nov. 30, 1941, in Reno, Nev. He died on April 5, 1995.

Mrs. Hixson worked in a flower shop until she was married. They lived in Sacramento, Calif., until her husband joined the Navy in April 1942. They lived in San Diego, Calif., where she worked as a rivetor at Rohr Aircraft until 1943. She returned to Durango in March 1943 when her husband shipped out. After his overseas duty they lived in Hutchinson, Kan., and Jacksonville, Fla. In 1945, they returned to Colorado, living in Dove Creek where she worked for the Dove Creek Press for seven years. She also worked as the district court clerk. In 1960, they moved to Delta where they owned and operated the Texaco Bulk Plant and Service Station. After closing the station, she worked at Skyland Foods for nine years.

Mrs. Hixson was a member and past matron of the Garnet Chapter Order of Eastern Star #39, and of the Delta United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three grandsons, Boyd Johnson and his wife Connie of Detroit Lake, Minn., Darrel Johnson of Mesa, Ariz., and Dell Johnson and his wife Lynette of Delta; and six great - grandchildren, Olivia Johnson and Nathan Johnson, both of Detroit Lakes, Mich., Cassie Johnson, Bryce Johnson, both of Mesa, Ariz., and Emily Johnson and Derrek Johnson, both of Delta.

Mrs. Hixson was preceded in death by her husband, David Hixson; a daughter, L'Jeanne Johnson; a great - grandson, Evan Johnson; and five brothers.

Jacobs, Frances - - (1939 - 2004)

Frances E. Jacobs, a lifetime resident of Olathe, died on Friday, April 2, 2004, at her home. She was 82.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at Olathe Cemetery, with Pastor John Mocko officiating.

Mrs. Jacobs was born on Dec. 31, 1921, in Olathe, to Bertram C. and Lois Alta (Mattsen) Goddard. She spent her childhood in Olathe, graduating from Olathe High School in 1939.

She married Samuel Jacobs on March 7, 1942, in Raton, N.M. He died on April 17, 1991, in Olathe.

Mrs. Jacobs was a postal clerk in Olathe for over 20 years, retiring in 1976 as postmaster. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Olathe. She was past state president of the Postal Workers Union and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing gin rummy and bridge, and spending time with her family and her dog Wee Wee.

She is survived by three daughters, Janis Jacobs of Creede, Patricia Campbell of Delta, and Kristi Anne Fix and her husband Steven of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jacobs; a brother, Fredrick Goddard; and a sister, Mary Smith.

Lundy, James - - (1928 - 2004)

James Ira Lundy of St. George, Utah, died on Friday, March 26, 2004, at his residence. He was 76.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Weatherford, Okla., to Horace Ross and Sadie Ethel (Dibler) Lundy.

Mr. Lundy married Rilla Mae Tedford on April 3, 1948, in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was a journeyman electrician in Albuquerque, N.M. He moved to Delta in 1969, where he owned an electrical contracting business for 10 years. He retired in 1985. He moved to St. George, Utah, in 2002.

Mr. Lundy enjoyed traveling with his wife to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and twice to Alaska. He also enjoyed telling jokes and stories. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness since 1965.

He is survived his wife, Rilla Lundy; four sons and their wives, James and Mary Lundy, Dan and Tina Lundy, Paul and Lisa Lundy and Eric and Lolda Lundy; three daughters, Gloria Proctor and her husband Wayne, Pamela Wingfield and her husband Ronald, and Rhonda Lundy; 14 grandchildren; 13 great - grandchildren; a brother, Keith Lundy; and three sisters, MaryLou, Ardeth Ann and Ima Mae.

Mr. Lundy was preceded in death by brother, Harold Dean Lundy.

A memorial service was held on March 31, in St. George, Utah.
