ROBERT W. SACK

Robert W. Sack lost his courageous battle for life on March 25, 2002, at University Hospital in Denver. He was surrounded by his loving family and dear friends.

Bob was born on December 1, 1946, in Beatrice, Nebraska to Twildi and Wayne Sack. He earned a degree in architecture at the University of Nebraska and at the time of his death was the director of facilities planning and construction at the University of Southern Colorado.

A creative and artistic man. Bob participated as a prize-winning amateur in several annual chef's galas in Colorado Springs. He was a former member of the Colorado Springs Chorale and Soli Deo Gloria Choir. During his lifetime he enjoyed performing in several little theater productions. A beloved husband, father, son and brother. His zest for life and the love he so willingly shared are greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his mother. He leaves his wife, Ellen; his children, Becky (David) Bosko and Brian (Julie) Sack; his step-children, Kristen (Phillip) Robbins, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Lane, Andre (Janelle) Lane, and Nicholas Lane; his father, Wayne; and sisters, Rosemarie Kirven and Jeanine Ellis. Also survived by his aunt and uncle, Marie and J. Mark Longfield of Pueblo, as well as countless additional family members and friends.

Memorial service will be held at the Hearthwell Lounge in the Occhiato Center on the University of Southern Colorado Campus, 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Springs Chorale, P.O. Box 2304, Colorado Springs, CO 80901 or the Soli Deo Gloria Choir, P.O. Box 38023, Colorado Springs, CO 80937.

WES PETTIGREW

Wes Pettigrew, 83, long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away Thursday, March 28. Services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada. A reception will follow in the church's Hospitality Room. At 1:00 pm, a burial service with military honor guard will be held at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Rd. Visitation will be
Monday, April 1 at Swan-Law Mortuary, 501 N. Cascade, from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Wes was born on May 20, 1918 in Arlington, Texas to Silas Neil and Ellie Lee Swaim Pettigrew. He was the second of five children. The family moved to Colorado Springs when he was three years old. He graduated from Colorado Springs High in 1936. He played basketball in junior and senior high and ice danced at the Broadmoor Ice Palace. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He joined the Army Air Corps in December 1941, and became a highly decorated World War II B-24 pilot. While stationed at Benghasi, Libya, he flew his plane, "Little Joe, " on more than 300 combat hours, including the bombing of the Ploesti Oil Fields in Rumania on August 1, 1943. For his service, he was awarded the Silver Star with Cluster, the Distinguished Flying Cross and seven times was awarded the Air Medal.

He met Mary Ellen Howard, his wife of 56 years, while serving as a B-29 instructor at Mountain Home, Idaho. They were married on December 2, 1945, and had four children. He was actively involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts,

Girl Scouts and PTA. He was awarded the Century Member Award by the Boy Scouts of America. All three sons became Eagle Scouts.

He and his two brothers, Chuck and Claude, went into partnership with their father in the Pettigrew Auction Company, a business started in 1932. He eventually became sole proprietor and retired in 1985.

He remained active by dancing, including square dancing and being a member of the Broadmoor Waltz Club. He restored antique furniture. He was active in Odds and Ends Sunday School class projects, Senior Center activities and Share Colorado. He and his wife loved traveling both inside and outside the country with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, and his four children: W. Neil Pettigrew Jr, Colorado Springs, Christine M. Gray, Snohomish, Washington, Steven L. Pettigrew, Chandler, Arizona, and Philip A. Pettigrew, Houston, Texas, and their spouses Edward Gray, Elise (Posy) Pettigrew and Robin

Pettigrew and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Odds and Ends Class, First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs, 80903 or Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, 80903.

RETIRED, LT. COL. JAMES F. HAMILTON

Retired, Lt. Col. James F. Hamilton, 83 died March 29, 2002 in Colorado Springs. He was retired from the U.S. Army, and worked several years at the Pueblo Army Depot and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Jim was born November 21, 1918 near Cumberland, Ohio to David and Gertrude Hamilton who are deceased. He was married to Dorothy E. Snyder of Denver on September 16, 1946, who is deceased.
He is survived by four daughters Sherry Mischel of Scottsdale, AZ., Kimberly Hadix of Colorado Springs, Jeanie Dole of San Jose, CA. and Joan Notestein of Lee's Summit, MO., and seven grandchildren.

Private family services and cremation are planned. Evergreen funeral home is handling arrangements.

HAROLD W. ROLLER

Harold W. Roller died on March 26, 2002, in Colorado Springs. He was born January 29, 1909, in Kansas City, Kansas to Thomas Jefferson Roller and Margaret Montgomery who are deceased. He was married to Virginia Wilson who is deceased.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie D. Roller; a son David Roller; daughters Judy, Rosa, Gayle and Martha; step-daughter Janis Essex, step-sons: Richard Argyros, Thomas Argyros, Robert Woods and William Woods; several

grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters, and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Roller was retired from General Motors in Kansas City, Kansas. He enjoyed music, and was a member of Acacia Singers.

Visitation is on Monday, April 1, 2002, from 3 - 8 p.m., at Swan Law Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., at 10:00 a.m.on Tuesday, April 2, 2002. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.

LYLE C. BRECHEISEN

Born Oct. 31, 1923. Died March 29, 2002.

Mail handler, a former Colorado Springs resident. Survived by his wife, Helen Maxine; four sons, Ron, Lyle D., Timothy and Mike; and a daughter, Pamela Rea Webb. Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, Wichita.

MAJ. JOHN D. "JACK" CHARLES SR.

Born Feb. 14, 1935. Died March 27, 2002.

Helicopter pilot/Marine Corps/Navy/Army, a Colorado Springs resident. Survived by his wife, Ann Marie (Eagan); a son, John D. Jr.; and two daughters, Claire A. Charles and Susanne Gagnon. DAVID ROBERT DUNCAN

Born Aug. 27, 1904. Died March 28, 2002.

WILLIAM MORRELL FRENCH

Railroad district manager, a former Colorado Springs resident. Survived by his wife, Alberta; a son, Albert; and three daughters, Sally Lou Wessely, Carol Ann Paris and Suzanne Kay Busch.

WALTER N. DRAKE

Born June 22, 1921. Died March 30, 2002.
