Mary Carvalho
Mary Fernandes Carvalho, a Stamford resident, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at home. She was 68.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., she was a daughter of Gloria Gonsalves Fernandes of Hastings-on-Hudson, and the late Agostinho Fernandes.
Mrs. Carvalho graduated from Hastings-on-Hudson High School in 1950, where she was the recipient of the Emily Post Award. She served as a former vice chairman of the Urban Renewal Commission of Stamford and was the former president of the Stamford Republican Women's Club.
In addition, Mrs. Carvalho a former member of the YMCA in Stamford.
She is survived by her husband, Antone V. Carvalho of Stamford; a son, Tony Carvalho of Plano, Texas ; a daughter, Yvonne Rizzo of Atlanta; a sister, Elizabeth Smith of Bethel; a brother, Agostinho Fernandes Jr. of Northville, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.
Services and burial will be private.

Frederick L. Forger
Frederick Lamb Forger, a Stamford resident for 44 years, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 71.
He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.
Born Aug. 10, 1929, in Norwalk, he was a son of Gladys Lamb Forger of Norwalk and the late Daniel Russell Forger.
Mr. Forger owned Freddie's U.S. Mail Transport Co. in Stamford.
He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Forger of Stamford; three daughters, Susan Telesco of Stamford, Patty Mills of Manchester and Carol Forger of Hartford; two sons, Danny Forger of Yalesville and Frederick Forger Jr. of Stamford; a brother, Herbert Forger of Norwalk; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Giordano.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 at the Casinelli Vitti Funeral Home, 9 Pulaski St., Stamford.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich.
Esther R. Krasner
Esther Rebecca Glazer Krasner of North Miami Beach, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 at Claridge House in North Miami Beach. She was 77.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born July 22, 1923, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie Katzman Glazer.
Mrs. Krasner was a homemaker. She also was a member of Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Krasner of Boston and Debra Krasner of Stamford; and a brother, Isadore Glazer of Stamford.
She was predeceased by her husband, Morris Krasner; and a brother, Julius Glazer.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Debra Krasner.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at Congregation Agudath Sholom Cemetery
in Stamford.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Frank J. Librandi Sr.
Frank J. Librandi Sr., a former Greenwich resident who lived in South Yarmouth, Mass., died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at the Cape Cod Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis, Mass. He was 77.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Mr. Librandi was employed as a department head for the Electrolux Division of the Sarah Lee Corp. in Old Greenwich for 41 years.
While living in Connecticut he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Oronoco Council 39, and coached youth baseball for many years.
After retiring to Cape Cod in 1989 he worked part time for Sears Roebuck Co. in Hyannis in the hardware department. An ardent golfer, he was a member of Bayberry Hills and Bass River golf clubs in South Yarmouth.
Born in Cos Cob on March 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred Librandi.
Mr. Librandi is survived by his wife, Claire O'Connell Librandi of South Yarmouth; two sons, Stephen J. Librandi of Fairfield and Frank J. Librandi Jr. of Cos Cob; two sisters, Philomena Librandi of Cos Cob and Mary Quell of Stamford; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James Librandi and Mike Librandi.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, Mass.
A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth.
Burial will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne, Mass.; at a time to be announced.

Michael L. Marraffino
Michael Luke Marraffino, a Greenwich resident for 11 years, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 51.
He died of lymphoma, according to his family.
Born June 21, 1949, in New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a son of the late Jeswaldo and Gertrude Trotta Marraffino.
Mr. Marraffino attended New Rochelle schools and graduated from New Rochelle High School.
He also graduated from Rockland Community College and SUNY Oneonta, both in New York. He earned a master's degree in theater and communications from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He also attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Besides his educational pursuits, Mr. Marraffino was the executive director of the New Rochelle Civic Theater Inc. from 1980 to 1995 and of the Performing Arts Centre at St. Gabriel's in New Rochelle from 1987 to 1995.
From 1990 to 1993, he taught communications, including radio broadcasting, speech and media, 2000 at Iona College.
Mr. Marraffino worked at WGCH radio station in Greenwich as the drive host from 3 to 7 p.m. To the listeners, he was known as Luke Michaels and hosted "LM in the PM."
In Greenwich, he taught acting and theater workshops at Greenwich Adult Continuing Education from 1995 to 1998.
He is survived by his stepmother, Anne Marraffino of Pleasantville, N.Y; and his former wife, Gloria Erickson of Greenwich.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
A memorial service will be at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20 at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.

William H. Petersen
William H. Petersen, a Greenwich native and retired machinist, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at home in Cos Cob. He was 73.
The cause of death was cancer, according to his family.
Born in Greenwich on July 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas and Bertha Jensen Petersen.
Mr. Petersen was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II, and for 50 years he was a machinist with the Wendon Company in Stamford, retiring in July.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Casey Petersen of Cos Cob; a son, William Petersen of Stamford; three daughters, Susan Daly of Boca Raton, Fla.; Rene Biase of Norwalk; and Joan Petersen of Cos Cob; a brother, George Petersen of Riverside; and three granddaughters.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Roch's Church in Greenwich at a date and time to be announced.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.
