Anthony R. Coppola, age 79, of Norwalk, formerly of Stamford, died at Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, due to cancer. Born in Stamford January 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Sinabaldo and Alice Coppola. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Margaret C. Scopporotti Coppola of Norwalk; three daughters, Antoinette M. Braca of Trumbull, Patricia Evans of Wellington, Fla., and Nancy Coppola Fouliard-Roth of New Mexico; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild also survive. A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902, on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 8:50 a.m., and then to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, Darien. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Southwestern CT Inc., 1029 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 20, 2001, from 4 to 9 p.m.

RUSSELL
Eugenia Russell, age 69, born on April 15, 1932, in Jamaica, West Indies, St. Elizabeth Parish, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2001, at Astoria Park, Bridgeport. She was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. Eugenia is survived by two sisters, Enid of England, and Joyce of Jamaica, W.I.; two nephews, Anthony Russell and Fitzroy Russell; one sister-in-law, Carmen Russell; two nieces who reside in New York; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at the George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 10 a.m. Viewing hours will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will immediately follow the service in Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley Street, Bridgeport.

O`BRIEN
Louise Zacchia O`Brien, age 85, of the Huntington section of Shelton, a homemaker, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Adolph and Delia Lucarelle Zacchia, and was a Huntington resident for 32 years. Mrs. O`Brien graduated from Harding High School, class of 1932, at age 16, and attended two years at the Bridgeport Normal School. While residing in Europe, she taught CCD to dependent children and civilians at Mannheim Military Post, and was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at Fairfield Tool Co. Survivors include her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert W. O`Brien; a son, William J. Mealia, a retired Milford police officer, and his wife, Coral, of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Robin Hayden and her husband, Lawrence, of Naugatuck, and Patricia McLean of Peoria, Ill.; two brothers, Adolph Zacchia and his wife, Betty, of Enfield, and Alfred Zacchia of Fairfield; two sisters, Rose Fattibene of Bridgeport, and Valerie Manzi of Desoto, Texas ; five grandchildren, Kimberlee, Timothy, Karen, Michael and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Mealia; a sister, Annette Woolett; and a grandson, Bobby. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 8 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. IANNUCCI
Rose Iannucci, age 91, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Paul Iannucci, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center, Stratford, following a long illness. Born in Stratford, on September 9, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Marie Schippani. Mrs. Iannucci worked as an assembler for the Hawie Buckle Co. of Bridgeport for more than 30 years before retiring in 1984. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Marie Marshall of Stratford; grandchildren, Gene Marshall of Milford, Gary Marshall and his wife, Linda, of California, Paul Marshall and his wife, Christine, of Wallingford, and Rosanne Marshall of Bridgeport; as well as eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Eugene Marshall. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Spadaccino Funeral Home, 499 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. KALISH
Edward J. Kalish, age 88, of Bridgeport, a retired machinist, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Northbridge Health Center in Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport, on August 15, 1912, he was the son of the late Charles and Isabel Kalisz, and was a Bridgeport resident all of his life. He was the widower of Marie (Mikulka) Kalish. Survivors include his beloved family, one son, Richard J. Kalish Sr. and his wife, Lynn, of Seymour; one daughter, Joyce Buonanno and her husband, Constantine, of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Irene Takacs. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday (TODAY), at 9 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Michael`s Church, 310 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport. Interment in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Marie Cerra Panuczak, age 75, wife of the late Fred Panuczak, left this world peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Marie says goodbye to three daughters, Patti McWade, Donna Papetti and Debbie Shmerler and her husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jason and Brandi McWade; a lovingly devoted partner, John Smoko; a sister, Rose Wojcek and her husband, Danny; and numerous friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her sister, Mamie Nolan; and a brother, Don Cerra. Marie was a very talented, energetic, intellectual woman who achieved many accomplishments in this life. A lover of aesthetics, hard work, family and friends, Marie challenged us all to reach deeper within ourselves and push a little harder to be better people. She will be missed. We`re sure she is already dancing in the light. Huntly Constantine "Earl" Wright, age 38, of Bridgeport, died suddenly on February 26, 2001, in Philadelphia. He was born in Jamaica, on June 2, 1963, to Woolsey Wright and Bernice Blake. He leaves to mourn many family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 9 a.m. in the Bridgeport Church of God, 2319 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport. Eugene Joseph Vedock, age 74, of 2 Columbia Street, Ansonia, beloved husband of Theresa Lesko Vedock, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at the Hospital of St. Raphael. Mr. Vedock was born in Johnstown, Pa., son of the late Joseph E. Vedock and Eugenia Stelmack Vedock Barron. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was an employee of the State of Connecticut DOT Highway Maintenance. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Ansonia. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Peter Thompson of Canada, William Thompson of Shelton, and Eugene J. Vedock Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Theresa Swatt of Waterbury; an adopted daughter, Martha Ullian of East Haven; and his aunt, Dorothy Stelmack of Shelton. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Anthony Barron. Funeral on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 9:30 a.m. from the Hylwa-Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Ansonia. Lucille M. Filo, age 78, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late John Filo, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the Lord Chamberlain Health Center, Stratford. Born in Fairfield, Mrs. Filo had been a town resident for most of her life. Survivors include two sisters, Rose Krankall of Fairfield, and Helen Magyar of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. William J. Reilly, age 79, of the Huntington section of Shelton, beloved husband of Gloria Barbera Reilly, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Connecticut Hospice. Born in Boston, he had resided in Stratford for 26 years, and in Huntington for the last seven years. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he was retired from Harvey Hubbell, where he was a member of its Quarter Century Club. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his beloved children, one son, James W. Reilly and his wife, Kandice, of Stratford; one daughter, Linda B. Walker and her husband, James L., of Huntington; five grandchildren, Jessica Walker, Heather Walker, Kassandra Reilly, Laura Walker and Lee Reilly; one sister-in-law, Wilma Barbera; and several nieces and nephews. Services are on Friday (TODAY), at 9:15 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mark`s Church, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Alexandra (Sandy) Boruch, age 57, of West Haven, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at her mother`s home after a brief illness. Miss Boruch was born in Indianapolis, Ind., daughter of Zinovia Kudrikoff Boruch of Shelton, and the late Andrew Boruch. Sandy was employed for more than 25 years at the Hospital of St. Raphael in the Admitting Office, and was a former member of the Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church. Besides her mother, she is also survived by a sister, Barbara Tao; three nieces, Jennifer, Christine and Leslie, who was also her goddaughter; two other godchildren, Stephan and Kathryn DeBiase; and her devoted friend, Stephen Wetowitz. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, at noon, in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Burial will be in Three Saints Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Josephine Galemba Deer, age 88, wife of the late Alphonse Deer, formerly of Bridgeport, died on Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Milford, Mrs. Deer had lived in Bridgeport for most of her life until moving to Naugatuck 12 years ago. Josephine took her greatest pleasure in the love and caring she gave to her family and will be greatly missed by her two sons, John Deer of Naugatuck, and Ralph Deer and his wife, Renate, of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Charles, Mark, Patricia Deer and Karen Steger; her cherished great-grandchildren, Brian and Michaela Steger; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 10 a.m. in St. Ann`s Church, Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Pearl Vasas, age 97, beloved wife of the late Charles Vasas, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at her home. She was a resident of Fairfield for more than 50 years, and was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and gardening. Pearl was a member of First United Church of Christ, and the Ladies Aid. Survivors include her daughter, Irene Cappello and her husband, Vincent, of Fairfield; a grandson, Richard Szilvasy and his wife, Abby, of Monroe; a granddaughter, Andrea Connolly of Hull, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Alana and Kaila Szilvasy; three sisters, Elizabeth Kasey of Norwalk, and Helen and Yoli of Hungary; her nephew, John Kasey of Stratford; a niece, Marion of Portland, Ore.; and other relatives including Bill Csarszar of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 9:15 a.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center, and 10 a.m. in First United Church of Christ. PETRAFESA
John J. Petrafesa Sr. of Fairfield, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at the age of 54. Mr. Petrafesa was vice president of labor relations at Walt Disney Theatrical Productions in New York City. Prior to joining Disney in 1994, he was the assistant to the international president of IATSE, the stagehands union. He also served as director of theater operations for the Shubert Performing Arts Center in New Haven, helping to revitalize the Shubert Theater. Earlier in his career, he owned Connecticut Theatre Supply and worked on various Broadway shows including "Evita." He began his professional career at the Shubert in New Haven, at age 14, as a stage technician, working on more than 130 pre-Broadway productions. During this time he also worked for Connecticut`s Criminal Justice Division, preparing grant applications and as a family relations officer. He also served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve. John is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Millicent Carroll Petrafesa, a retired teacher from Assumption School in Fairfield. He is also survived and sorely missed by his loving son and daughter-in-law, John Joseph Jr. and Melissa Morris Petrafesa, of Greenwich; as well as his loving daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian McLaughlin of Fairfield. In addition to his children, John is survived by his two adored grandchildren, Aidan McLaughlin and Kate Petrafesa, who will remember and miss their "Bubba" always. John, who was born in New Haven, is also survived by his father, Rocco F. Petrafesa of New Haven; and sister, Anita Petrafesa Nichols and brother-in-law, Randy Nichols of Arlington, Mass. His mother, Anna Marie Petrafesa predeceased him. John will be missed by his loving family including his in-laws, Patrick and Millicent Carroll, and Gregory and Laurie Carroll of Fairfield, the Honorable Patrick and Denise Carroll of Shelton, and Marilyn Carroll and Gilbert H. Mott of Ridgefield; as well as four nephews; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his wonderful friends. Friends may attend the funeral on Saturday at 1 p.m. DIRECTLY at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Post Road, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (TODAY) from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
