BROWN
Lewis Brown, age 84, of Fairfield, the widower of Eleanore Brown, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Hawthorne, N.Y., Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II as an X-ray technician. He was employed as a medical technician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, prior to his retirement. He was an active member of Widowed Persons Service and had received the Rose Award for volunteerism and was also a former member of the IRP. He is survived by his best friends, Anne and Colm McMorrow of Duxbury, Mass., and Trudy Elias of Fairfield. Funeral services and interment will be private. The Shaughnessey Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield, is in charge of arrangements. It would be appreciated if donations be made in Lewis and Eleanore Brown`s memory to the Audubon Society of Connecticut, 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield, CT 06430.

SIOK
Julia Siok, age 88, of Bethel, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Bethel Nursing Home. Mrs. Siok was born in Bridgeport and resided there for most of her life. She was the widow of John Siok. Mrs. Siok was a retired salesperson at Skydel`s and Howland`s. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including, Janice Dobitas of Oxford, Judy Calsada of New Port Richey, Fla., and Edward Godzinski of Tarpon Springs, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at 9 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport. Interment will be private. Arrangements by the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home.

STRATFORD, CT
SINGER
Elizabeth Cody Singer, age 61, of Stratford, an employee of the Mill River Country Club, Stratford, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at Milford Hospital. Mrs. Singer was born in Norwalk to the late Dr. William and Elizabeth Cody, and had been a longtime Stratford resident. Survivors include her beloved son, Cody Singer of Stratford; a granddaughter, Maria Singer; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debbie Calvin. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Elizabeth`s family.

KOPNICKY
Robert A. Kopnicky, age 73, of Newtown, husband of Shirley (Munich) Kopnicky, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at Danbury Hospital after a long illness. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Stephens Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, with burial to follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Newtown. Friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday, July 26, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street, (Route 25), Monroe.

Lorraine Clark, age 86, of Bridgeport, died on Wednesday July 18, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Savahania Williams and Louciada Huntsub on June 13, 1915. She leaves to cherish her memory a special friend, Violet Rockhead; and godson, Michael Rockhead. A private funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the George J. Peterson Funeral Home, 1041 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport.

SEAMAN
Richard J. Seaman, age 74, formerly of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Mediplex of Southbury. He was born in Bridgeport, November 21, 1926, son of the late James L. and Jennie H. Lasko Seaman. He attended Bridgeport schools and graduated from Yale and later from Fordham University with a degree in pharmacy. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. From 1962 until 1969, he owned and operated the Seaman Pharmacy in Monroe. Prior to his retirement to Southbury, he was a resident of Still Hill Road in Sandy Hook, and was a member of St. Rose Church in Newtown. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen R. Reinhardt Seaman. His survivors are his three sons: Richard D. of Naugatuck, Jonathan J. and his wife, Diane, of Southbury, and Robert E. of California; three grandchildren: Jonathan Jr., Stephanie and Shannon Seaman; his brother, Donald of Easton; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Marguerite Beougeoys Church, Brookfield, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Danbury, CT 06810.

DORMER
Doris L. Dormer, age 71, of 51 Brentley Drive, Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Doris was the devoted wife of Richard S. Dormer. Mrs. Dormer was born in Union, N.J., on July 24, 1930, daughter of the late Frank and Florence Firestine Lurker and had been a Shelton resident since 1965. She was the beloved mother of Michael Dormer of Naugatuck, Frank Dormer and his wife, Victoria, of Branford, and the late Richard Dormer. She also leaves four loving grandchildren, Jaimee, Jeff, Christopher and Sam Dormer. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Frank Bunnell. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Huntington Congregational Church, 19 Church Street, Shelton, with the Rev. Ruth Maedel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Housatonic Council 3, 326 Derby Avenue, Derby, CT 06418.

BANNON
Mary C. Bannon, age 89, of Fairfield, the widow of Thomas P. Bannon, died in Bridgeport Hospital on Tuesday, July 24, 2001. Born in Pennsylvania , she was a longtime Fairfield resident. She was a devoted mother and an avid reader. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Fairfield, and Blessed Sacrament School in Bridgeport. She is survived by one son, Thomas Bannon of New Britain, and Lucy Bannon of Plainville; one daughter, Suzanne Riordan and her husband, David, of Fairfield; one brother, Joseph Collier of California; two sisters, Margaret Coleman and Helen Collier, both of Pennsylvania ; one sister-in-law, Miriam Collier of Stratford; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Miller and her husband, James, of Newtown, Patricia Skurja and her husband, George, of Stratford, Lynn Ambrose and her husband, Robert, of Monroe, David Riordan and his wife, April, of Monroe, Kathleen Bannon and her husband, James White, of West Hartford, Aline Bannon of New Britain, Sean Bannon of Eastford, and Christopher Bannon of New Britain; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 9:20 a.m. from the Shaughnessey Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield, and at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. It would be appreciated if donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897-2523.

BRIDGEPORT, CT
CHOPIK
George Chopik, age 82, of Shelton, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at his home. Mr. Chopik was born in Bridgeport and resided in Bridgeport for most of his life before moving to Shelton 11 years ago. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Vargosko Chopik and his son, Charles "Tommy" Chopik. George is survived by his daughters, Merianne and her husband, Alex Halkovic, of Beacon Falls, and Maida and her husband, Butch Mayernick, of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Christine, Kathleen and David Halkovic, and Jessica Mayernick. George was a very proud World War II veteran, having served under General Patton in the 4th Armored Division. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals for his bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of VFW Post 9460 of Stratford. A lifelong carpenter, George was a member of the Carpenters Union, and enjoyed creating and working with his hands. More than anything else, George was a devoted father and integral part of the lives of his daughters. He was so very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He leaves a great void in their lives and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 9:30 a.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 1640 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport (corner of Ridgefield Avenue). Interment in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, with full military honors. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parking lot entrance on Ridgefield Avenue.
