WARD
Edward Ward, age 64, of Bridgeport, passed into eternal peace on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Edward was born on February 14, 1937, in Baxter, Ky., but moved to Bridgeport at an early age and was a lifelong resident. He was married to his beloved wife, Beverly Ward, for 45 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: his son, Edward M. Ward of Bridgeport; two daughters, Gail Diaz of Bridgeport, and Joyce Ward of Milford; three grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends who love him dearly. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine`s Cathedral. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. The Funeraria Luz de Paz Funeral Home, 426 East Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.

STRATFORD, CT
DALLMANN
Kathryn A. Dallmann, age 94, a resident of Stratford for six years, and formerly of West Allis, Wis., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Milford Health Care Center. Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Logan of Stratford, and was predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas Logan. She is also survived by grandchildren, Melanie Logan, Thomas Logan and Melissa Logan. Friends may greet Mrs. Dallmann`s family on Thursday, July 26, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to the American Cancer Society.

SVETLIK
George E. Svetlik, age 79, of Fairfield, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at his home, after an extended illness. He was the husband of Olga S. Svetlik. Mr. Svetlik was born on May 18, 1922, in Easton, son of the late Daniel and Mary Svetlik, of Easton. The Svetlik family is one of several immigrant families from Slovakia who settled in Easton at about the turn of the century and established a farming community, thus reviving the town after it had been all but abandoned during the industrial revolution. These families were instrumental in establishing the present-day character of Easton. He was the nephew of the late Martin Steucek, a former first selectman of Easton, the late Oscar Svihra, former chief of police of Easton, and the late Regina Steucek, former superintendent of schools of Fairfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 611th Ordinance Battalion in Europe, Great Britain, the Marshall Islands, Panama Canal, Philippines and Japan. Employed there for 37 years, he retired from the Dictaphone Corp. in 1988. Among his interests was a strong love and admiration of cats and a love of humor. Besides his wife, he leaves a stepdaughter, Lydia Straus-Edwards of Woodbury and San Diego; a brother, Edward Svetlik of Southbury; and a sister, Adele S. Bush of Shelton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, with the Rev. Bonnie Bardot, pastor of the Easton Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Visiting Nurse Association, 40 Lindeman Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611.

WINTHAL
Eva Gros Winthal, died on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born July 15, 1922 in Napoleonville, La., to the late Anatole and Louella Gros, she was predeceased by her husband, James B. Winthal Sr. and son Lawrence J. Winthal. Survivors include daughters, Bella M. Bondi and husband, Anthony, of West Haven, Jeannette Winthal Robertson and husband, Alan, of Derby; sons, James B. Winthal Jr., and wife, Doris, of New Jersey, and Charles L. Winthal of Bridgeport; and daughter-in-law, Maureen Winthal of Derby; two brothers, Lawrence and Nolan Gros of Labadieville, La; grandsons, Alan and Kelly Robertson, Charles L. Winthal Jr., and Anthony, Mark and Michael Bondi; granddaughters, Karen and Kathleen Bondi; one great-grandson, Ryan Robertson. Eva will be remembered for her tenacity and uniqueness in dealing with all of life`s challenges. Her presence has left its profoundness with those of us she leaves to celebrate her being. Friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at 12 noon at St. Andrew`s Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport.

REKLAITIS
Joseph Anthony Reklaitis Sr., age 78, of Fairfield, a retired employee of Carpenter Steel, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Pittston, Pa., Mr. Reklaitis had been a Fairfield resident for the past 51 years. He was a member of the Carpenter Steel Retirees. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth B. Reklaitis, and was predeceased by four brothers, Zachary, Peter, John and Matthew Reklaitis. Survivors include two children, Julia Reklaitis Mock of New Haven, and Joseph A. Reklaitis Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Glastonbury; two brothers, William Reklaitis of West Hartford, and George Reklaitis of Waterbury; three sisters, Ann Gnida of Bridgeport, Stella Macenas of West Hartford, and Mary Anzalone of West Pittston, Pa.; four grandchildren, Christine Elizabeth Mock, William Ellsworth Mock III, Brian Joseph Reklaitis, and Jason Anthony Reklaitis; one great-grandson, Kurt Christian Mock; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10:15 a.m. in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call on Thursday (TODAY), from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. KOPNICKY
Robert A. Kopnicky, age 73, of Newtown, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at Danbury Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Stratford, he had worked as a mason contractor, and excelled in duckpin bowling, for which he won many awards. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Munich) Kopnicky; two sons, Steven of Newtown, and Alan and his wife, Mary; two grandchildren, Joseph Kopnicky and his fiance, Cassandra Kolenich, and Nancy Kopnicky and her fianc, Brian Jones, all of Ohio, and Sharon Kopnicky of Danbury; four stepchildren, Rachel and Jennifer Greene, and Amy and DJ Salazar; two brothers, Clement Kopnicky and his wife, Joan, of Newtown, and Reginald Kopnicky and his wife, Frances, of Stratford; four sisters, Margaret Cheever and her husband, Edward, of Bridgeport, Florence Reiland of Milford, Betty Bayliff and her husband, Clarence, of California, and Joan Snyder of Florida; a sister-in-law, Valerie Kopnicky of Newtown; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Stephen`s Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, with burial to follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Newtown. Friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Route 25), Monroe.

BONA
George B. Bona, age 83, of Easton, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mr. Bona was born in Robling, Pa. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, graduated from Bridgeport Engineering Institute and was employed by Dictaphone for 40 years. He then worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 10 years as a quality control engineer. George was a past president of the Fairfield County Quality Control Association, past treasurer and consistory member of the United Church of Christ, and proud to hold three patents under his name. Survivors include his beloved wife, Margaret Estok Bona; and loving daughter, Carol Bona, both of Easton; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to United Church of Christ, 2200 North Avenue, Bridgeport.

MAHEU
Gloria York Maheu, age 72, widow of Raymond G. Maheu of 338 Seymour Avenue, Derby, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. She was born in Waterville, Maine, daughter of the late Archie and Aurelie Cloutier York, and was retired from the Chromium Process Co., where she worked as a racker. Survivors are a daughter, Donnajean Clark of Derby; two sisters, Adeline Ward of Gardiner, Maine, and Tina Bishop of Waterville, Maine; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard York. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. in Mount St. Peter`s Cemetery, Derby. There will be no calling hours. The James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Avenue, Shelton, is in charge of arrangements.

BRENNAN
Vincent John Brennan, age 85, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Martha Suchecki Brennan, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at his home. Mr. Brennan was born in Bridgeport to Thomas and Elizabeth Wagner Brennan, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a retired agent of John Hancock Insurance Co. and Elmer Craw Realtors. From 1933 to 1935, he served as an officer in the Civilian Conservation Corps of Connecticut. He leaves his wife, Martha Suchecki Brennan; his daughter, Lynn and her husband, Dr. John Fulkerson, of Litchfield, and Patricia Brennan of Boubers, France; his grandchildren, James Trefz, Tara Locke, Brad Fulkerson and Phoebe Brennan Fulkerson; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Todd of Bridgeport. Vincent, an avid gardener, brightened the lives of his family, friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 27, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A funeral service will be held at St. Theresa`s Church, Trumbull, on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to VNS of Connecticut Hospice, 765 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.

ZAVORY
Katherine Rosenberg Zavory, beloved widow of John "Shorty" Zavory, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center, Stratford. Mrs. Zavory was born in Bridgeport to Ethel and Louis Rosenberg, and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Mrs. Zavory retired from Warner-Lambert, where she worked in quality control. For many years she was a member of Port 5, Naval Veterans Auxiliary. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Toth and Mrs. Cecelia McFarlan, her best friend. Also surviving are a niece, Noreen Ahern and her husband, William; a nephew, Barry McFarlan and his wife, Deborah; great-niece, Lisa Pickering and her husband, Michael; great-nephew, William Ahern and his wife, Rebecca; great-nephews, Michael, Patrick and Matthew McFarlan; her adored great-great-nieces and great-great-nephew, Caitlynn and Haley Ahern and Alexis, Ashley and Zachery Pickering; and two sisters-in-law, Goldie Zavory and Helen Zavory. Mrs. Zavory was predeceased by her sister, Bessie Mathew; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Mathew, John Toth and William McFarlan. Mrs. Zavory will be dearly missed by her family and a host of treasured friends. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Elizabeth Cody Singer, age 61, of Stratford, an employee of the Mill River Country Club, Stratford, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at Milford Hospital. Mrs. Singer was born in Norwalk to the late Dr. William and Elizabeth Cody, and had been a longtime Stratford resident. Survivors include her beloved son, Cody Singer of Stratford; a granddaughter, Maria Singer; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debbie Calvin. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday (TODAY), from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Elizabeth`s family.
