Elizabeth "Betty" Sayball, age 92, of Main Street, Stratford, wife of the late Ralph S. Sayball, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Lord Chamberlain Health Care, Stratford. Daughter of the late James and Rose Kovacs, she was born on October 1, 1908, in Bridgeport. She was a resident of Milford for more than 18 years, moving to Stratford three years ago. Before her retirement in 1973, she was employed by the University of Bridgeport for more than 10 years in the food service department. She was a member of the Milford Senior Citizens. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce L. Reese of Milford; a son, James Sayball of Greenville, N.C.; two sisters, Ann Nemeth of Wallingford, and Matilda Pelloni of Hindsdale, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Joan Sayball of Milford; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Ralph Sayball; and three sisters, Rose Kormos, Mary Bodner and Jay Tomasi; and one brother, James Kovacs. Funeral from the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford, on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. in the United Church of Christ, 2200 North Avenue, Bridgeport. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. SNEIDER
Georgianna DeMatteo Sneider, age 87, of Bridgeport, wife of the late John Sneider, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Bridgeport, Mrs. Sneider was as lifelong city resident. Mrs. Sneider had worked for Ann`s Newfield Bakery for many years. She had been a longtime member of the St. Peter`s Church Rosary Society. Georgianna enjoyed musicals, the opera and loved to crochet and share the crafts that she made with her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Rita A. Weed and Judy Medeiros; sisters, Lillian Petrucelli and Marie Reves, all of Bridgeport; grandchildren, David Weed, Corey, Cayla and Stephen Medeiros; and her great-grandson, CJ; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 9 a.m. in St. Margaret`s Shrine, Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Burial to follow in St. Michael`s Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

LILYA
Bertha Nagy Lilya, age 91, of Fairfield, wife of the late Ermin Lilya, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Cambridge Manor, Fairfield. Born in Pottstown, Pa., Mrs. Lilya was a Fairfield town resident for more than 80 years. Bertha was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ and belonged to the church`s Women`s Guild. She is survived by her son, Clifford Lilya and his wife, Patricia, of Fairfield; her daughter, Judith Miller and her husband, William, of Fairfield; a brother, Julius Nagy and his wife, Dorothy, of Bridgeport; a brother-in-law, Ben Reed of Florida; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hayes and her husband, Dennis, and Matthew Lilya; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. DIRECTLY at the United Church of Christ, corner Laurel and North Avenues, Bridgeport. Burial to follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Church of Christ.

SVETLIK
George E. Svetlik, age 79, of Fairfield, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Olga S. Svetlik. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery. CRONIN
Edward J. Cronin Sr., age 95, of Paramount Drive, Seymour, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Shady Knoll Health Center, Seymour. He was the beloved husband of the late Julia Kane Cronin. Mr. Cronin was born on December 18, 1905, in Bridgeport, son of the late John and Minnie Dieke Cronin. Edward was a Seymour resident since 1938. He was a retired security guard from the Farrel Corp., Ansonia, where he was employed for 25 years, retiring in 1969. He was a communicant of St. Augustine`s Church, a member of the Farrel Old Timers Club, a member of the Seymour Senior Center, and was a former Boy Scout leader. He leaves his loving family including three sons, Edward J. Cronin Jr. and John Cronin, both of Seymour, and Richard Cronin of New Britain; one son-in-law, David Greywacz Sr. of Seymour; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Ann Greywacz, predeceased him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, also on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. FAIRFIELD, CT
AUTUORI
Vincent Salvatore Autuori, age 84, of Fairfield, a retired machinist with Sturm Ruger in Fairfield, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at his home. Born in Bridgeport on June 20, 1917, the eldest son of the late Martin (Matteo) Autuori and Rose Ascolese Autuori, he had been a Fairfield resident for the past 50 years. he grew up on Olive Street in the "Hollow" section of Bridgeport, and on his uncle`s farm in the Long Hill section of Trumbull. He graduated from the State Trade School in Bridgeport in 1935, as an apprentice automobile repairman. Inducted into military service on February 17, 1942, he served in the Army Air Corps at McDill air field in Florida. He was discharged from the 873rd Chemical Company on April 12, 1943, following a lengthy illness at Lawson General Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. In civilian life he served the war effort working at the Chance Vought factory doing pre-flight tests on Corsair fighters. He returned to automobiles after the war and worked at several garages and dealerships in the greater Bridgeport area, the last being Gaynor-Taylor in Stratford. He retired from Sturm Ruger in 1983. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Lillian) Fata Autuori. Survivors include two sons, Martin P. Autuori of Bridgeport, and Roger V. Autuori of Fairfield, vice chairman of the Fairfield Water Pollution Control Authority; a sister, Carne Stasolla of Fairfield; two brothers, Martin Autuori of Bridgeport, and Dominick Autuori of the Huntington section of Shelton; five nieces; and five nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and at 9:30 a.m. in Assumption Church, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday (TODAY), from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Verna Ann Buck, age 60, of Milford Point Road, Milford, died on Friday, July 20, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mrs. Buck was born in New Haven to the late William and Christine Erickson Ashworth. She was a secretary for the Michael Allen Co., in Westport. Mrs. Buck was a member of the choir in Trinity Lutheran Church, the New Haven Choral, the Scandinavian Club in Fairfield, and was secretary for the Scandinavian Club in Bare Foot Bay, Fla., and Siren Aid Easton Volunteer Fire Department. She is survived by her loving husband, Erik Buck; daughters, Karen Buck of Milford, and Lisa Krajcik and her husband, Stephen, of Orange; sisters, Ina Montelius of Branford, and Katherine Olson of North Haven; and grandchildren, Ryan and Kristina Krajcik. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Robert Treat Parkway, Milford, at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to the Trinity Day School, Robert Treat Parkway, Milford, CT 06460. The Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford, is handling the arrangements.

Margaret Elizabeth Deaky, age 87, of Fairfield, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, she was a lifelong area resident, and the wife of the late Louis Deaky. She was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Sabol and Jennie Tarzali. She is survived by her son, Robert Deaky and his wife, Joan, of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Grace Dalling and her husband, Bill, of Claremont, N.H., Donna Kerma and her husband, Ken, of Bridgeport, and Robert Deakey of Fairfield; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Nicholas, Stephanie and Jessica Deaky; two brothers, Charles Sander of Fairfield, and John Sander of Plymouth, N.H.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center with burial to follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to greet her family on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

HOINSKY
Raymond A. Hoinsky, age 48, of 190 Hodge Avenue, Ansonia, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001. He was born in Derby, December 8, 1952, son of the late Charles and Florence Krystopik Hoinski. Ray was an ASE certified mechanic for Mauro Motors Mercedes and BMW of North Haven, an avid race car fan, a member of the National Hot Rod Association, a member of St. Joseph Church and a member of Polish Falcon Nest 212 of Ansonia. Survivors include two brothers, Christopher Hoinsky of Shelton, and Frank A. Hoinsky of Derby; two sisters, Gloria McKie and Charlene Burns, both of Ansonia; his uncle, Edward, and aunt, Sue Krystopik; aunts "Ciocia" Ceil Krystopik, "Ciocia" Mary Krystopik and Mildred Kristopik, all of Ansonia; and 10 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 9:15 a.m. from the Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home, 87 South Cliff Street, Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph`s Church, Ansonia. Burial will be in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Memorial Fund, 32 Jewett Street, Ansonia, CT 06401, or through the funeral director.

NINTZEL
Joan Marie Protomastro Nintzel of Trumbull, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Mrs. Nintzel was born in Jersey City, N.J., and was a Trumbull resident for 25 years. She worked in the tax collector`s department for the Town of Trumbull for a short time. She also was a volunteer in the Trumbull school system, was a former Girl Scout troop leader, and a member of the Ladies Guild at Christ the King Church. Survivors include her husband, John F. Nintzel; her son, Kevin J. Nintzel; her daughter, Beth A. Nintzel, all of Trumbull; three brothers, Nicholas Protomastro of New Jersey, Robert Protomastro of Milford, and Gerard Protomastro of New Jersey; her sister, Ann Murphy of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, and at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
