BROWN
Dreyton V. Brown, age 89, of Meriden, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Meriden Health Care Center. Mr. Brown, a retired plater for the Chrome Engineering Co., was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Albert and Mildred (Starr) Brown, and had been a longtime Milford resident. He was the widower of Alice Barnhart Brown. Survivors include his two sons, Robert T. Brown and his wife, Carol, of Meriden, and Gerald E. Brown and his wife, Rosemarie, of Stratford; one daughter, Kathryn V. Barrett of Frederick, Md.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Claire Marinuzzi; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Fern Ellis; and a sister, Berle Gartner. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, with the Rev. Thomas Walter officiating. Interment will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Connecticut Hospice.

FAIRFIELD, CT
ROULEAU
Michel Rouleau, age 56, of Bridgeport, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Canada, Michel moved to the area in 1959. He was a self-employed contractor. Survivors include his mother, Rollande Rouleau; a daughter, Tina Marie Rouleau, both of Bridgeport; four brothers, Rejean and Raymond Rouleau of Montreal, Canada, Renau Rouleau of New York City, and Jean Paul Rouleau of Bridgeport; six sisters and their husbands, Regeanne and Bernard Auger, Jeannette and Raymond Courbron, Micheline and Bob Derah, Francine and Samuel Quinn, Brigitte and John Skudlarek, and Jacinthe Rouleau; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Leo Rouleau; and a brother, Ronald Rouleau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001, DIRECTLY at St. Augustine`s Cathedral, Bridgeport. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center.

BRIDGEPORT, CT
KUCZYNSKI
Stanislaw Kuczynski, age 68, of Bridgeport, beloved brother of Boguslawa Zbrzezna, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Klimki-Cheechy, Poland, he was the son of the late Ignacy and Marianna Gurtatowska Kuczynski. A resident of Bridgeport for many years, he was a former employee of Nancy Lynn Bakery. Survivors, in addition to his devoted sister, are two daughters, Danuta and Elizabeth, and four grandchildren of Poland; a brother, Wiktor Kuczynski of Poland; sisters, Genowefa Jankowski of Long Island, N.Y., Janina Folta of Fairfield, and Aniela Orlowski of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church. Interment in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours on Monday, July 30, 2001, after 9 a.m. in the Frank M. Radozycki & Sons Funeral Home, 305 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport (directly across from St. Michael`s Church).

MILFORD, CT
HOGAN
John Weldon Hogan, age 82, of Main Street, Stratford, formerly of Milford, died on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Lord Chamberlain Health Care, Stratford. Mr. Hogan was born in Milford, on September 4, 1918, to the late Clarence and Lillian Brophy Hogan. He attended Harding High School. Mr. Hogan was employed as a machinist for Singer Sewing Machine in Bridgeport. He was a member of the American Legion, Stratford VFW, Knights of Columbus of Stratford, Holy Name Society of St. James Church, and Fairfield Hibernians. Mr. Hogan is survived by several nieces and nephews; and a great-niece. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Willis H. and R. James Hogan; sisters, Geneva H. Bragg and Elizabeth H. Monroe. Calling hours on Sunday, July 29, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001, at St. James Church, Main Street, Stratford, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael`s Cemetery in Stratford. Donations may be made to a charity of one`s choice.

ALBANY, NY
ECKHARDT
Marion A. Eckhardt, formerly of Colonie, N.Y., and Stratford, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Atria Shaker Assisted Living in Albany. Mrs. Eckhardt was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Frederick W. and Alice Marie McGraw Myers. She was a graduate of Albany High School and the Albany Business College. A longtime resident of Stratford, she was employed as a secretary for the IRS in Bridgeport for 12 years, retiring in 1973. Previously she worked as an executive secretary for the Harvey Hubbell Co. in Bridgeport, and the Bridgeport Brass Co. She was a communicant of St. Mark`s Roman Catholic Church in Stratford. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold P. Eckhardt; and her sister, Helen Klein. She is survived by a nephew, George Eckhardt and his wife, Janice, of Colonie, N.Y.; and a niece, Dorothea Hopper and her husband, Gilbert, of Loudonville, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Albany, N.Y. Interment was in St. John"s Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie, N.Y. The Frederick Funeral Home, 633 Central Avenue, Albany, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA
RADZAVICH
Robert Joseph Radzavich, age 43, of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Ansonia, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Born in Derby, Mr. Radzavich had been a resident of San Francisco for the past five years. Survivors include his parents, Martha and Albert Radzavich of Ansonia; and a sister, Joanne Jones of Seymour. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 2, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony`s Church, 199 North Main Street, Ansonia.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL
SLIWINSKI
John J. Sliwinski, age 85, formerly of Bridgeport, died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Greenacres, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Karolczyk) Sliwinski; a daughter, Madelyn Rzewnicki; son-in-law, Robert Rzewnicki of New Britain; three sisters, Mary Sliwinski of Bridgeport, Angela Matson of Bridgeport, and Jean Severn of Oxford; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Bridgeport and moved to Florida 20 years ago after retiring from General Electric Co. He was also employed by Columbia Records and International Harvester. He was a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 36 and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Amry. There will be a memorial service on Monday, August 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport, CT. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Palm Beach County, Inc., Green Team, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407-2387.

BRIDGEPORT, CT
MONCHESKI
Anna Moncheski, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 26, 2001, in Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Moncheski. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 1 p.m. in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton, with the Rev. Hans-Fredrik Gustafson, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Trumbull, officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that donations be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. The Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport, is in care of arrangements.

ST. MICHAELS, MD
FARRELL
Joseph William Farrell, age 84, died at his home in St. Michael`s, Md., on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. Born in Bridgeport, on August 19, 1916, he resided there all of his life until moving to Maryland in 1983, to Edgewood, and then to St. Michael`s. He attended Warren Harding High School and St. Bonaventure College for a short time. He worked for the Bullard Co., which later became the White Corp., for 48 years. He was married to Mary Clark Farrell for 58 years. Mr. Farrell was a sportsman playing pro football, he swam, played basketball and baseball. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Joseph Michael Farrell of Edgewood; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services and burial were private. Arrangements were by the Harrison E. Leonard Funeral Home, St. Michaels, Md.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL
COGER
Patricia C. Coger, age 61, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at her home. She was born in Norwalk and lived in Shelton, before moving to Florida in 1997. She was a member of the Pas a Grille Community Church in St. Petersburg Beach, where she was a member of the Stephan`s Ministry. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Frank H. Coger Sr. of St. Petersburg Beach; two sons, Albert Coger of Shelton, and Frank Coger Jr. of Mt. Dora, Fla.; her mother, Madeline Miltenberger of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Crosley of Stratford; a sister, Judith Pond of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

STRATFORD, CT
SCALZI
Jane Scalzi of Bridgeport, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Miss Scalzi was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Leonard and Maria (DeMenna) Scalzi. She was a lifetime area resident, and a member of the Catholic Council of Women. Survivors include her brother, Dr. Leonard Scalzi of Boca Raton, Fla., and previously of the Nichols section of Trumbull; six nieces and nephews, Dr. Thomas Nucifora of Derby, Robert Nucifora of Stratford, Dr. Cynthia C. Scalzi of Philadelphia, Leonard C. Scalzi of Farmington, N.M., Mary-Lou Jambriska of Bridgeport, and Michael Scalzi of Shelton; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Private visitation with her family took place on Thursday, July 26, 2001, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, Stratford. This was followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Monsignor John Gilmartin at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Stratford. Interment followed in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford.
