WRIGHT
Mildred Gibson Wright, of Fairfield, died Thursday, November 28, 2002, in St. Vincents Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a brief illness. A resident of the Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield for more than half a century, Mrs. Wright was a member of the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. She was chairman of Wright Investors Service, a company founded by her late husband, John Winthrop Wright, inventor of the Wright power saw. Mrs. Wright was chairman of the School for Ethical Education which she co-founded with Mr. Wright. A graduate of Florida State College for Women, she was trained as a musician and an artist and pursued graduate work in French at Fairfield University and the Sorbonne in Paris. Mrs. Wright was a licensed pilot with a single engine rating and traveled widely in the United States, Canada and Mexico with her husband, also a pilot. She was a member of the Motor Corps in World War II. Mrs Wright was a former president of the Greenfield Hill Garden Club and the Bridgeport Garden Club; offices she held simultaneously. She was a blue ribbon winner in flower arranging in both clubs. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Fairfield Beach Club, the New York Yacht Club, and the Union League Club. She was on the advisory board of the Claude Pepper Foundation in Tallahassee, Fla., and was a trustee for the Institute for Human Potential, an international corporation headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a former trustee of the Marvelwood School in Kent, Conn. Mrs. Wright was a charter member of the Fairfield Historical Society. An opera enthusiast, she subscribed to the Metropolitan Opera for more than a quarter century and was a former member of the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Survivors include her brother, M. Carr Gibson of North Carolina; her sister, Frances Gibson Proctor of Florida; 12 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Sen. Leonard Peterson Gibson of Florida. Interment will be privately officiated at the Wrights estate, "Twin Peaks", in Massachusetts. FERKO
Peter P. Ferko Sr., age 73 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Marlene M. (Allen) Ferko, died on Sunday December 1, 2002, at Connecticut Hospital in Branford. Born in Bridgeport to the late John and Ann (Poodiack) Ferko, he had been a lifelong resident. Mr. Ferko graduated from Harding High School in 1947 and then served in the U.S. National Guard. He was retired from Warnaco and was a member of the Warnaco Retiree Club. Mr. Ferko enjoyed sports, and played golf and bowled. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three beloved children, Peter Ferko, Jr. of Bridgeport, Marlene Husvar and her husband, Robert, of Newtown and Carol Tibor of Bridgeport; one brother, Edward Ferko and his wife, Tania of Shelton; three grandsons, Brian Husvar, Brandon Husvar and Mark Tibor; and several nieces and nephews. He had been predeceased by three brothers, George, John and William Ferko and his son-in-law, William Tibor. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 9:45 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. COLON
Margarita (Margie) Torres Colon, age 45, of Bridgeport, entered into eternal peace on December 1, 2002, at St. Vincent`s Medical Center, with her family at her side. Despite a lifelong illness, Margie embraced life. With courage and determination, she touched many lives. Those who knew her will always remember her captivating smile and the sparkle in her eyes. Margie was born in Bridgeport, the daughter of Alberto Torres and the late Catalina Torres, and had resided here all her life. She received her B.S. from the University of Bridgeport, and was employed at Vishay Vitramon, in Monroe, for the past 15 years. Survivors include her devoted husband, Jose Colon, and loving son, Jose Colon, Jr. She will be sorely missed by her stepmother, Carmen Torres; her sisters and their spouses, Evelyn and Ramon Colon, of Shelton, Miriam and Juan Ramon Garcia, of Milford, Elssa Torres and Angel Valle, of Bridgeport and Noelia and Pasqual Oquendo, of Bridgeport; her brothers and their spouses, Miguel Angel and Mary Torres, of Bridgeport and William and Debbie Torres, of Milford; several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to go ``Directly`` to St. Peter`s Church on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 10 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Internment is in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours are on Tuesday (TODAY) FROM 5 - 9 p.m., in The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport (on the Trumbull Line).

GALLOS
Mary Gallos, age 91, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, at 3030 Park in Fairfield. Mary was born in Bridgeport and had been a lifelong area resident. Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Andre Kalapir, of Fairfield, and Mary and her husband, Albert D`Alessandro, of Trumbull; a brother, Frank Dobos of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Anthony and Scot D`Alessandro, Richard Gallos Jr., Stacey Layfield, and Erik and Allan Kalapir; a daughter-in-law, Joan Gallos of Monroe; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Gallos; a son, Richard Gallos Sr.; a sister, Theresa Szor; and two brothers, Joseph and Gus Dobos. Services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Route 25), Monroe, and at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen`s Church. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. WHITE
Melissa K. White, age 28, beloved wife of Travis K. White, of Monroe, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, in St. Vincent`s Medical Center. Melissa was born in Bridgeport and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a student at St. Vincent`s College of Nursing. Survivors in addition to her husband, include three loving children, Noah, Colby, and Sierra; her beloved mother, Dolores Luckner of Monroe; mother-in-law, Barbara and her husband, Joseph Jahr, of Stratford; father-in-law, Darcy White of West Virginia; and cousins, Tany and April Szarmach. Services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 10 a.m., DIRECTLY at the United Methodist Church, 515 Cutlers Farm Road, Monroe. SHEEHAN
Mary Jean Beattie Sheehan, age 57, of Milford, died Monday, December 2, 2002. Ms. Sheehan was born in Bridgeport on January 19, 1945, to the late Charles and Loretta Grabowski Beattie, Sr., and was a Milford resident for 30 years. She was employed for several years at the Southern New England Telephone Company, and Remington Electric Shaver. She was a member of the Former St. Ann`s Ladies Guild, and a longtime parishioner of St. Ann Church. Survivors include a daughter, Stacey Sheehan, of Milford; her former husband and father of Stacey, Michael Sheehan, of Milford; a sister, Shirley Collins and her husband, Edward, of Milford; two brothers, Charles Beattie, Jr., of Bridgeport and William Beattie and his wife, Paula, of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 10 a.m., in St. Ann Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. FRYE
Richard F. Frye, Jr., age 72, of Trumbull, a retired engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft Company, died on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Connecticut Hospice Inc., Branford. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Richard Frye, Sr. and Nina Beady Frye, and was a Trumbull resident for over 45 years. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1947 and from the University of Bridgeport in 1952. Mr. Frye was a former teacher for over 40 years with the Bridgeport Engineering Institute and; in retirement, tutored at Fairfield University and taught engineering classes at Pitney Bowes. He was a member of the Long Hill United Methodist Church Men`s Club, the Sikorsky Retirees Club, the Tashua Knolls Mens` Seniors, the American Helicopter Society, the Vertical Flight Society, the Round Table Civil War Group, and the Helicopter Museum in Stratford; and a volunteer at Booth Memorial Park. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, civil war geneology, and collecting coins and stamps. Survivors include his beloved wife, Rose Pavia Frye; three sons, Richard F. Frye, III and his wife, Linda of Bolton, Donald Frye of Hanover Park, IL and Daniel Frye and his wife, Ann of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Elaine Saksa and her husband, Ray of Stratford; and three grandchildren, Carolyn, Laura and Gary. Friends are invited to meet DIRECTLY at Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main Street, Trumbull on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. for funeral services. Interment will take place in Lawrence Brook Cemetery, Royalston, Mass. at the convenience of the family. WITIAK
Elsie Dragan Witiak, age 85, of Bridgeport, died on Monday, December 2, 2002 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to the late William and Mary Chomaik Dragan, she was a lifelong city resident. Mrs. Witiak was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft and had been associated with her beloved husband John in their meat market (Witiak`s Market) in Bridgeport for many years. She was a member of the Mothers and Daughters Club, Seniors and a long-time choir member of St. John`s Church. She is the widow of John Witiak and is survived by her sister, Ann Discko of Stratford; her brother Dr. William B. Dragan and his wife Margaret of Easton: her son-in-law Robert Franco of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Franco. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Bridgeport. Interment will be in St. John`s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Panachida will be at 7 p.m. The family requests in lieu flowers donations in her memory be made to St. John`s Church.

VIOLANTE
Francis (Frank) Violante, age 81, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, in St. Vincent`s Medical Center. A lifelong Bridgeport resident, he was born on October 29, 1921. Frank was proud to have grown up on Bridgeport`s East Side. After graduating from Harding High School in 1939, Frank joined the U.S. Navy and was accepted into Officers Candidate School and served as a pilot in World War II. He remained in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was recalled to duty in 1962. He retired as a Lieutenant commander in 1969. Frank married Catherine (Kal) Bennett in 1944. As a youth, Frank worked with his father as a builder and continued this trade until his retirement. His favorite hobbies included cooking, photography and framing. In 1976, he opened his own frame shop, L`Atelier. He was very devoted to his wife and family. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his daughter, Kathryn O`Donnell of Fairfield; two sisters, Annette Bourdeau of Trumbull and Terese Stonaha of Derby; two granddaughters, Kelly Sheehan and her husband, Jon of Pomfret, Conn. and Heather Figmic and her husband, John of Marshfield, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Tucker Sheehan; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Violante was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Mary Colello Violante, his sisters, Mary Violante, Irene Miccinello and Anna Hinkle, his brothers, Michael, Salvatore and Louis Violante, and his son-in-law, Peter E. O`Donnell. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Wednesday at the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Blessed Sacrament Church Renovation Fund, in care of Father Paul Merry, 275 Union Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.

JABLONSKY
Eleanor M. Lacko Jablonsky, age 83, of Stratford, a homemaker, died on Sunday, December 1, 2002, at Carolton Health Care Center, Fairfield. Born in Stratford to the late John and Mary Fabula Lacko, she was a lifelong Stratford resident. Mrs. Jablonsky was a retired health aide at Family Services. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Jablonsky. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Anne Lacko of Stratford; her niece, Marianne Chedister and her husband, James, of Trumbull; and two beloved foster children, Elena Cahill of Orange, and Ralph Flamini and his wife, Deborah, of Shelton. Funeral services will be private and interment will be in St. John`s Cemetery, Stratford. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
