former nurse's aide
Betsy Vanderhoef Huntzinger, 84, of Greenwich, died Sept. 25 at Greenwich Hospital.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Mrs. Huntzinger graduated from Rosemary Hall and later served as a nurse's aide at Greenwich Hospital and The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home during World War II.
Born August 26, 1918, in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late Francis Bailey Vanderhoef and Cornelia Young Vanderhoef.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C. Huntzinger, who died in January 2000.
Mrs. Huntzinger is survived by her daughter, Karin Huntzinger of New York City, and a brother, Francis Bailey Vanderhoef of Ojai, Calif.
A private service and burial took place last week.
The family has requested that no flowers or contributions be sent.
The Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Jeanne C. Maloney

Jeanne C. Maloney, 80, of Delray Beach, Fla., and Rye, N.Y., died Thursday, Oct. 3, at Greenwich Hospital.
The cause of death was complications from Parkinson's disease, her family said.
Born Oct. 2, 1922, in New York City, Mrs. Maloney was a daughter of the late James T. and Ida R. Cawley.
She attended the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, N.Y., and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y.
As a Girl Scouts leader for more than 20 years in Bronxville, N.Y., Mrs. Maloney was awarded the Presidential Medal of Service. She was an avid athlete who particularly enjoyed tennis and golf, as well as the athletic endeavors of her children, her family said.
Mrs. Maloney was a member of the Colony Beach Club in Delray Beach, and the Westchester Country Club in Rye. She also was a real estate sales associate with Ley Management in Bronxville.
She is survived by eight children: Edward F. Maloney Jr. of Greenwich, Barbara J. Maloney of Washington , D.C., Jimmy Maloney of Kent, England, Peter J. Maloney of Westport, Maureen D. Bowen of Greeley, Colo., Jeffrey D. Maloney of Hartsdale, N.Y., Mari Brita Maloney of New York City and Tara A. Parsley of Granville, Ohio.
Mrs. Maloney also is survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ida McLean, of Jupiter, Fla.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Maloney; and a grandson, Edward F. "Teddy" Maloney III, who died in the attack on the World Trade Center.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville.

Chester A. Purdy

Chester A. "Bud" Purdy, 78, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Sunday, Oct. 6, at home.
He died of cancer, according to his family.
Mr. Purdy was a trail manager for the Greenwich Riding & Trails Association.
He worked for Sealtest Dairy in Stamford for 24 years and served on the Board of Directors of the Fairfield-Westchester Professional Horseman's Association.
Born July 19, 1924, in Stamford, he was a son of the late John Purdy and Mary Wilson Purdy.
Mr. Purdy was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeannine Purdy of Greenwich; a son, Glenn Purdy of Greenwich; five sisters; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Purdy, and by five sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry St.
Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery.

Dorothy Scofield, 100,

Dorothy M. Scofield, 100, of Old Greenwich, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home in Greenwich.
She died of natural causes, her attorney, Abby Bates, said.
Born on March 17, 1902, in Jamaica, N.Y., Mrs. Scofield was a daughter of the late Alois Hess and Ann Becker Hess.
Mrs. Scofield was a telephone operator for New York Telephone, and was a resident of Old Greenwich for 70 years.
She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and of St. Clement's Church in Stamford.
Mrs. Scofield is not survived by any immediate family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Scofield, a painting and wallpaper contractor who had a business in Old Greenwich.
The funeral will take place Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Clement's Church, 535 Fairfield Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow at Nine Partners Burial Ground in Millbrook, N.Y.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Clement's Church.
Harry Stramiello Sr.

Harry Stramiello Sr., 88, of Greenwich, a retired caddy master, died Sunday, Oct. 6, at Greenwich Hospital.
He died of natural causes, according to his family.
Mr. Stramiello worked at the Round Hill Club for 45 years until his retirement in 1979. He had a lifelong passion for the game of golf and registered his first hole-in-one when he was 87.
Born Aug. 8, 1914, in Greenwich, he was the son of the late Daniel and Rose Mangone Stramiello. He graduated from Greenwich High School.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Stramiello served in the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed in England. He was a member of the 9th District Vets and the Retired Men's Association.
He is survived by Madelyn Burns Stramiello of Greenwich; two sons Harry Stramiello Jr. of Danbury and Robert Stramiello of Pelham, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy Stramiello of Greenwich; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Vaccaro Stramiello; three brothers, Vincent Stramiello, Daniel Stramiello and Anthony Stramiello; and a sister, Lena Harrison.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc., 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Roch Church in Greenwich.
Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
