Sister Patricia Moloughney, 88;
was high school headmistress
Sister Patricia Moloughney, 88, a Greenwich resident since 1971, died Friday, Feb. 7, at the Tandet Center in Stamford.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Sister Moloughney had devoted 65 years to her ministry of education, counseling and service to the sick. Her last formal assignment was as headmistress of St. Mary High School in Greenwich. After the high school closed, she devoted her time to religious education ministry at St. Michael's Church as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She also visited the sick in hospitals and nursing homes.
Previously, she taught eighth grade at Nativity B.V.M. in Ozone Park, N.Y., for 30 years, and was a guidance counselor at Holy Family High School in South Huntington, N.Y., for five years.
She also taught classes in religion, teaching methods and classroom management to adults who were preparing to become religious education instructors on Long Island, N.Y. She taught a philosophy of education course at Manhattan College in New York City .Sister Moloughney and her natural sister, Sister Cecilia Moloughney of Greenwich, were grand marshals of Greenwich's St. Patrick's Day parade in 2001.
Born Nov. 11, 1914, in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Anastasia Dwyer Moloughney. She was one of nine children.
Sister Moloughney traveled to Canada in 1929 and attended the Academy of the Congregation of Notre Dame in Montreal. She later returned to Montreal to study French at LaValle University.
In 1930, she entered the Ursuline Sisters Congregation of Tildonk, Belgium. She earned her master's degree in education and psychology from Fordham University and her doctorate in philosophy from St. John's University in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y. In addition to Sister Cecilia Moloughney, she is survived by two sisters, Rosemary O'Brien of Dublin, Ireland, and Gabrielle Kehoe of Ballydine, County Tipperary, Ireland; 23 nieces and nephews; 37 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 10 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at St. Michael's Church, 469 North St., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m.
Following the Mass, her family will receive guests in the Monsignor Guinan Hall at the rear of the church.
Friends also may call from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Ursula Center in Blue Point, Long Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. there.
Burial will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Sisters' Cemetery
at St. Ursula, Middle Road, Blue Point.

Hugh R. MacLetchie, 90,

75-year town resident
Hugh Robin MacLetchie, 90, of Milford, a former longtime Greenwich resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, at St. Raphael Hospital New Haven.
He died of heart problems, according to his niece, Bonnie Jensen of Yonkers, N.Y.
Born July 26, 1912, in Short Hills, N.J., he was the son of the late John and Grace MacLetchie.
Mr. MacLetchie was a U.S. Navy officer in World War II. A Greenwich resident for 75 years, he moved to Milford in 2000.
Mr. MacLetchie was a co-founder of the River Hills Ski Club in Old Greenwich.
He is survived by his niece and a nephew, Graeme MacLetchie of Irvington, N.Y.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich.

Myrtle Hutchinson, 72;

was nurse's assistant
Myrtle Hutchinson, 72, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Sunday, Feb. 16, at Greenwich Hospital.
She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a nurse's assistant at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home and Hill House in Riverside. She enjoyed gardening.
Born Aug. 18, 1930, in Manchester, Jamaica, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Admira Hutchinson.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Pennicott of Greenwich; two sons, Howard Nicholson of Bridgeport and Mark Daley of Jamaica; a brother, Harold Sweetland of White Plains, N.Y.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 44 Lake Ave., Greenwich.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Beatrice T. Lunney, 87,
former area resident
Beatrice T. Lunney, 87, of Jensen Beach, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, Feb. 15, at her son's home in Stamford.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born Jan. 9, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Bridget Furlong Walsh.
Mrs. Lunney moved from Stamford to Jensen Beach in 1985. She enjoyed playing Rummikub and bingo.
She is survived by two sons, James J. Lunney Jr. of Stamford, formerly of Greenwich, and Thomas Lunney of Pacific Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Lamaita of Jensen Beach and Cecile Pendleton of Oceanside, N.Y.; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Lunney Sr.; and a brother, Gerald Walsh.
Services were held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach.
Entombment was at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

David G. Rogers, 45,
former town resident
David G. Rogers, 45, of Newport Beach, Calif., a former Greenwich resident, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach.
He died of a heart attack, according to his family.
Mr. Rogers was managing director of Related Capital Corp.'s West Coast operations and had worked extensively in the real estate investment and mortgage banking industries.
From 1960 to about 1985, he lived in Greenwich from 1960 to about 1985, where he was a member of the Innis Arden Golf Club.
Born Aug. 15, 1957, in Los Angeles, he was the eldest son of Harold G. and Lois I. Rogers of Riverside.
Mr. Rogers grew up in Riverside and graduated from Brunswick School. He played basketball for Brunswick and was an accomplished golfer, tennis player and swimmer.
He attended Princeton University, where he was a member of varsity heavyweight crew. He graduated in 1979 with an honors degree in economics. During his junior year, Mr. Rogers studied at Oxford University in England.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Chelsea Rogers of Newport Beach; three sons, Arron Rogers of Winston Salem, N.C., Jared Rogers of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Damion Rogers of Playa del Rey, Calif.; two brothers, Gary Rogers of Stamford and Bruce Rogers of Darien; and one niece and one nephew.
Services were held Feb. 14 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach.
