Aldo Zampa, 73
WEST HAVEN - Aldo Zampa, 73, of 15 Laurel Place died Friday at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Frances Salatto Zampa. Mr. Zampa was born June 14, 1924, in New Haven, a son of the late Nazzarano and Christina Esposito Zampa. He was a lifelong West Haven resident. He was a carpenter for 30 years for H.E. Murdock & Sons, until his retirement in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Polish American Club and the Marchegiana Club of New Haven. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Christine Chancio of North Branford, Barbara Pomichter of North Haven, Donna Zampa of West Haven and Karen Corbally of Milford; a brother, Dino Zampa of West Haven; and six grandchildren. Ryan M. Leavitt, 19
NEW HAVEN - Ryan M. Leavitt, 19, of 70 Marvelwood Drive died Thursday at home. Mr. Leavitt was born Dec. 7, 1978, the son of Larry and Monita Russick Leavitt of New Haven. He was a theater-film major at Southern Connecticut State University. He acted with the Elm Shakespeare Co. in performances of Hamlet, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. In June of 1996, his video of Macbeth was shown at the Youth Art Summit during the International Festival of Arts.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Tamara Leavitt of New Haven; his paternal grandfather, Stanley Leavitt, M.D. of Santa Fe, N.M.; his paternal stepgrandmother, Colleen McCarthy of Santa Fe; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Mary Russick of Oxford, N.J. HAMDEN - Dorcas Gayle, 78, of Hamden died Wednesday at home. She was the widow of Melbourne Gayle. Mrs. Gayle, a daughter of the late Rufus and Epsie Samuels, was born July 1, 1919, in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. She was a resident of the New Haven area for 28 years. She was a member of the Church on the Rock in New Haven.
Mrs. Gayle is survived by a daughter, Keturah Gayle of Hamden; a son, Luke Bailey of Kingston, Jamaica; a brother, Sonny Samuels of Kingston; sisters, Laurel Robinson, Esther Wilson and Bernice Ford of Queens, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. - Curvin K. Herbert R. Gunn, 93
SHELTON - Herbert Russell Gunn, 93, of 87 Ripton Road died Friday at Connecticut Hospice after a long illness. He was the widower of Lucille Dreison Gunn. Mr. Gunn was born Sept. 5, 1904, in Milford, a son of the late William and Mattie Sage Gunn.
He was a resident of Shelton for more than 45 years. He was employed at Builders Lumber Co. in Shelton for many years and was a charter member of Huntington United Methodist Church. Mr. Gunn is survived by a daughter, Lillian Molnar of Shelton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by six brothers and six sisters. PORTLAND -- Edward J. Markowski, 70, of 8 Joelle Drive, husband of Constance (Lastrina) Markowski, died Thursday at Hartford Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary, Portland. The Rev. John F. Ashe will be the main celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 71, Portland 06480 or to the American Cancer Society, Middlesex/Meriden/Wallingford Units, PO Box 188, North Haven 06473-0188.

MIDDLEFIELD -- The funeral for Mary L. Reynolds of Mack Road, Middlefield, wife of Edward H. Reynolds, was held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., to a mass of Christian Burial in St. Coleman Church at 9 a.m. The Rev. Lester Morris was the celebrant. Burial was in the family plot in Middlefield Cemetery, where committal services were conducted by Father Morris.

Roy A. Tattersall
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Roy A. Tattersall, 60, former resident of East Hampton and Middletown, died April 29 after a sudden illness while golfing with friends in South Carolina.
Born in Pawtucket, R.I., Sept. 3, 1937, the son of Roger A. and Doris D. (Tattersall) Todd, he graduated from East Hampton High School and attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He worked many years for the Pfaffner Bearing Co., later Textron, in Connecticut, also managing operations in Pulaski, Tenn., and Georgia. After leaving Textron, Tattersall owned and operated Dunkin' Donuts franchises in the Atlanta, Ga., area until he retired to "work" at West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville. He was an avid and accomplished golfer.
Tattersall leaves his mother, Doris Todd, of Keene, N.H.; his son, Todd A. Tattersall of East Hampton; a daughter, Tammy A. Baccari of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two step-daughters, Doreen and Colleen of Georgia; grandchildren Matthew, Nicolas and Heather; and six brothers, Paul A. Tattersall of Minneapolis, Richard D. Tattersall of Flagstaff, Ariz., Peter R. Tattersall, San Antonio, Texas , Byron P. Tattersall of Florida, Donald T. Tattersall of Keene, N.H., and Craig D. Tattersall of Bow, N.H.
Friends are invited to call the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St., Keene, N.H., on Sunday evening from 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Hamm, pastor of the United Church of Christ in Keene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
