Mildred E. Allen

WALLINGFORD -- Mildred Evelyn Turner Allen, 99, of the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, Wallingford died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at that facility. She was the wife of the late Frederick C. Allen.

Born in New Haven on May 23, 1901, a daughter of the late Harry F. and Ella Elsie Raymond Turner. She had worked in the New Haven Chief Operator's office of the Southern New England Telephone Company with over 38 years of service until her retirement in June 1966. She moved from her North Haven home to Ashlar Village in 1988 and to MGHC in 1996. She was a member of the Golden Rod Chapter No. 34, Order of Eastern Star, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Montowese Baptist Church in North Haven.

She leaves a son, The Rev. Donald F. Allen Sr. and his wife, August Hock Allen of Wallingford; a sister, Ella T. James of Meriden; a grandson, Donald F. Allen Jr.; a granddaughter, Claudia-Diane Bruce, both of North Haven; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Turner; and sisters, Ruth Wooding, Gladys Olsen and Clara Turner.

A memorial service of Holy Eucharist will be held Saturday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, the Rev. Kyle McGee officiating. Contributions may be made to Ashlar Village Chapel Fund or the Ashlar Village Grant and Aid Fund, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, 06492. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, is in charge of arrangements.

Paul R. Aust

SOUTHINGTON -- Paul R. Aust, 62, of 170 Nunzio Drive, Plantsville section, died at the New Britain General Hospital Wednesday, April 4, 2001. He was the husband of Nancy Sutherland (Browning) Aust.

Born in Burlington, Vt., Dec. 17, 1938, the son of Alice F. (Thompson) Aust of Cranston, R.I., and the late Rudolph Otto Aust. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. He was employed by the CT Tool Cutter Co. in Bristol.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Richard Erich Aust of Plantsville and Douglas Sutherland Aust of New Britain; a daughter, Frieda Laurel Aust of Plantsville; two brothers, Rudolph Paul Aust of North Syracuse, N.Y., and Erich John Aust of Marlborough; two sisters, Flavia O'Rourke of Glastonbury, and Martha DiMezza of Cranston R.I.; two grandchildren, Jakob Paul Aust and Rudy Joseph Aust.

The funeral will be held Saturday, April 7, at Plantsville Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Assoc. of CT., 45 Ash St. East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.

Theresa D. Biamonte

MERIDEN -- Theresa DeMaria Biamonte, 92, of Meriden, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Michael Biamonte.

Born in Meriden, Jan. 5, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Antonio DeMaria and Mary DeMaria-Mule, and had been a lifelong resident.

She is survived by her daughter, Marion (Mrs. Edwin) Zakrzewski of Wallingford; four grandsons, Edwin Zakrzewski Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Wethersfield, Michael Zakrzewski and Robert Zakrzewski and his wife, Marie, all of Meriden, and Alan Zakrzewski and his wife, Elizabeth of Wallingford; nine great-grandchildren, Steven, Thomas, Matthew, Timothy , Nicholas, Alexander, Kristen, Jeffrey and Daniel Zakrzewski; a sister, Josephine Miller of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Amelia Grant and Jean Petro; two brothers, James DeMaria Sr. and Peter DeMaria; and her son-in-law, Edwin Zakrzewski Sr.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.

Kim C. Dickerman

SOUTHINGTON -- Kim Crowley-Dickerman, 44, of 114 Reussner Road died, Tuesday, April 3, 2001, she was the wife of Bruce Dickerman.

Born Jan. 13, 1957, in Providence, R.I., daughter of Robert and MaryLou (Mangiafico) Crowley of Vernon. She was employed by the Sunshine Meadows Nursery School of Southington. She was a graduate of Rockville High School, class of 1975. She graduated from Dean Junior College of Franklin, Mass.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons, Eric and Ryan Dickerman; a daughter, Amy Dickerman, all of Southington; three brothers, Timothy Crowley and his wife, Jennifer of West Windsor, N.J., Robert Crowley and his wife, Beverly of Tolland and Casey Crowley of Atlantic City, N.J.; two sisters, Kathy Larew and her husband, Robert of Ellington and Marybeth Matt and her husband, Todd of Vernon; her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Dickerman of Vernon; her brother-in-law, Brian Dickerman and his wife, Lisa of East Hampton; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Jayne and her husband, Steve of Newburyport, Mass., and Candace Adams of Fairfield and Esther McQuaid of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. Kim's family morns the loss of a loving wife, wonderful daughter, devoted mother and caring sister, aunt, niece and friend who was a delight to all who knew her.

Friends are asked to attend a Mass at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington, Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Donations may be made in her memory to the Food Allergy Network, 10400 Eaton Place, Suite 107, Fairfax, VA 22030-2208.

Edmund J. Morin

SOUTHINGTON -- Edmund J. Morin, 91, of Southington, husband of Dorothy (Miller) Morin, died April 3, 2001, at Southington Health Care Center.

He was born in Marion, the son of Herman and Loretta (Barnes) Morin and lived in Southington 22 years, and before his retirement he was employed by the Southington Housing Authority. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Besides his loving wife of 66 years, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy M. Aiken and John P. of Southington and Joanne Skowronek and John of West Hartford; a brother, Joseph Morin of West Hartford; his grandchildren, Christine LaChance, Joseph E. LaChance III, Mary Ann Adams, Deborah Jedynak and Dorothy Contrastano; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Ave., Southington, CT 06489. Rose Hill Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Shirley M. Quimby

NORTH HAVEN -- Shirley Miller Quimby, 71, of 367 Skiff St., North Haven, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the CT. Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of Howard Quimby.

Born in New Haven, Nov. 22, 1929, daughter of the late Merle and Eva M. Weymouth Miller. She had worked for the Whitney Center and later in the classified dept. of the New Haven Register. She was a volunteer at the Barn Sale in Hamden for 22 years, a retired member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary of Branford, and an active member of St. Andrews Methodist Church.

She was the mother of John H. Quimby and Jean E. Karacsonyi, both of North Haven; grandmother of Eric J. and Alexander J. Karacsonyi V. and John M. Quimby. She was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine J. Pitcher.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Services will be conducted in St. Andrews Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Methodist Church 1230 Townsend Ave., New Haven, CT 06513.

Susan L. Sullivan

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Susan L. Sullivan, 48, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001, at Hospice in Bradenton, Fla., after a brief illness.

Susan was educated in Meriden schools and was active in the local theater groups.

Susan leaves behind her fiancé, Edward Heck; a brother, Patrick Sullivan of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Barry Grannis of Wallingford; a sister, Kathryn Gilroy of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in her honor Sunday, May 20, at 1 p.m. at The Corner Congregational Church, Broad St., Meriden. Friends wishing to make a donation may do so to Hospice S.W. c/o Bradenton Hospice House, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Carolyn J. Baillargeon

MERIDEN -- Carolyn J. Learmont Baillargeon, 66, of Meriden, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in Meriden, Oct. 25, 1934, she was a daughter of the late George and Minnie White Learmont and had been a lifelong resident.

She is survived by her daughter, Joann LeDuc of Edgewater, Fla.; her grandson, Steven Hallock of Meriden; her sister, Betty Barzee and her brother, George Learmont, both of Florida.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Cemetery in Cheshire. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.

Alfred J. Kroll

TAMPA, Fla. -- Alfred Julius Kroll, 88, of 16001 Lakeshore Villa Drive, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Lakeshore Villa Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Elsie Huff Kroll.

He was born in Bristol, Oct. 22, 1912, a son of the late Adolf and Leopoldeni Neske Kroll. He graduated from the Pratt Institute and was vice president of manufacturing at the Cuno Engineering Company, until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meriden. He had been an avid golfer.

He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Susan and Cole Brown of Westchester, N.Y.; a son and his wife, Randall and Merrilyn Kroll of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Hoffman of Avon and Selma Krampitz of Forestville; two grandchildren, Kimberly Kroll of New York City and Ryan Kroll of Gainsville, Fla. He was predeceased by his two brothers, John Kroll and Rudolf Kroll.

Funeral service will be Monday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Wallace Merdinyan will officiate. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery. Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, in care of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473, or to the National Kidney Foundation, 920 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06107.
