Honoria Miranda

MERIDEN -- Honoria Miranda, 85, wife of the late Abel Miranda, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at MidState Medical Center.

Born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on Sept. 30, 1916, the daughter of the late Ramon and Adela Perez Parrilla, she had resided in Meriden most of her life. Mrs. Miranda was employed at one time by New Departure in Meriden and retired from Eyelet Specialty Company.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Robert Kaulig of Crystal Lake, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Orlando A. and Eleanor Miranda of Plainville and Ramon and Patricia Miranda of Mililani, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Louisa Morales of Orlando, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Judith Miranda of Bethlehem, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miranda will be fondly loved and remembered by her sister-in-law, Margo Parrilla, who provided great comfort during her last days. She was predeceased b a son, Abel Miranda Jr.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association for Research, 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06472.

John S. Monahan

SOUTHINGTON -- John S. Monahan, 70, of 16 Hickory Hill, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at Hartford Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia H. Monahan; seven children; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road. Friends may call at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. Wallingford, CT 06492 or a charity of the donors choice.

Jean E. Olean

SOUTHINGTON -- Jean E. Douglas Olean, 58, of Russell Road, in the Milldale section of Southington, died unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2002 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Stephen Olean.

Born in Wagga Wagga, Australia, Aug. 16, 1943, daughter of the late Walter and Gwen Douglas, she had been a Southington resident since 1973. Mrs. Olean was born and raised in Australia. She was employed as a legal secretary for Solomon, Krupnikoff and Wyskiel in Meriden, had been an organizer to the YMCA Indian Guides for the Mother/Daughter Program and was involved in various parent organizations at St. Paul's Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Southington.

In addition to her husband, Stephen, she is survived by a son, Kevin Olean of Southington; a daughter, Kylie Olean of Meriden; two sisters, Dianne Lukes and Layne Piepers of Australia; one granddaughter, Alexandra Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial services will be held Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 St., Southington. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden at the church. Calling hours are Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the American Cancer Society, 583 Preston St., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.

Eileen R. Riordan

WALLINGFORD -- Eileen R. Riordan, 80, of 2220 Ashlar Village, formerly of New Haven died Monday, April 1, 2002 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Dr. William Riordan.

She was born in New Haven, Dec. 13, 1921, a daughter of the late William and Anna Galvin Rigby. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Hamden.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Riordan of Wallingford and Frank and Maxine Riordan of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elaine and David Wilkinson of Cheshire and Kathleen Tyrrell of Somers, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Rigby of Wallingford and William Rigby of Texas ; a sister, Dorothy Columbe of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Kevin Tyrrell, Daniel Tyrrell, Jocelyn Riordan and Marshall Riordan.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be at Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. There are no calling hours. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to the Hospital of St. Raphael Foundation Inc., 1450 Chapel St., New Haven 06511. The B.C. Julius E. Smith

MERIDEN -- Julius E. Smith, 78, of Meriden, died Monday, April 1, 2002 at the home of his nephew, Donald.

Julius was born April 12, 1923, in Valdoston, Ga., the son of the late Frank and Petrola (Harris) Smith. He was U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a bus driver for Connecticut Transit in Bridgeport. He was a very active member of AME Zion Church of Bridgeport and the local chapter of the NAACP.

He is survived by many close friends and family through out Connecticut and Georgia.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. in Hillside Cemetery in Valdoston, Ga. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Sarah Brown

MERIDEN -- Sarah Nicholas Brown, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond Brown.

Born May 15, 1925 in Cheshire, daughter of the late Simon and Stella (Juszkiewicz) Nicholas. She had retired from Carabetta Enterprise of Meriden. Mrs. Brown was a member of the South Meriden Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by a sister, Ann Jankovich and her husband, Steven of Hollywood, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Nick (Lois) Nicholas of Plantsville. She was predeceased by two brothers, Nick J. Nicholas and James Nicholas Sr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Carbone.

A Memorial Talk will be given by John Cassatta, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at South Meriden Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 410 Main St., Meriden. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Road in Cheshire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Newburgh Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Newburgh, N.Y. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT 06489 is in charge of arrangements.

Matthew E. DeBaise

WALLINGFORD -- Matthew E. DeBaise, 80, of Pilgrim Harbor, Wallingford died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at the Meriden Center.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Ford Arp of Wallingford; his very special niece and her husband, Sheila and Dr. Joseph Pechinski of Bangor, Maine; his nephews, Nicholas Walker; a grandniece; and three grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie D. Walker.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian burial, Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church, 68 No. Colony St., Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Holy Trinity School, Fund for Needy Students, 11 No. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford.

Francis L. Gagne

WESTERLY, R.I. -- A memorial service will be held for Francis Lionel Gagne, 72, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002.

Born in Meriden to Henry J and Lillian (Gagnon) Gagne, he was know to some as country western performer Jackie Russell.

He will be honored by his children in April 6, at 11 a.m. at The Quaker Meeting House, 57 Elm St., Westerly, R.I. Call Dinotos Funeral Home, in Mystic or family at 207-282-4241 for information.

William A. LeHerissier

MERIDEN -- William A. LeHerissier, 83, husband of the late Arlene E. LeHerissier, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in Meriden on Aug. 18, 1918, the son of the late Albert and Sally Guest LeHerissier and was a lifelong resident of Meriden and South Meriden. He was employed as a machinist/quality control inspector at International Silver Company until his retirement, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his four loving daughters, Carole Williams and her husband, Bill, Evelyn St. Onge, Patricia Singh and Brenda Shettleworth, with whom he resided at the time of his death; a sister, Shirley Boland; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren complete the family. Bill will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and joy be brought to each day of his life. He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Albert and Robert LeHerissier; and two sisters, Gertrude LeHerissier and Elaine LaPointe.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. the Rev. Anne Jensen of St. Andrew Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeanne E. McAnneny

WALLINGFORD -- Jeanne E. St. Hilaire McAnneny, 80, of East Center St., Wallingford, died Monday, April 1, 2002 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden, after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden, Nov. 18, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Bradford and Elizabeth Fitzgerald St. Hilaire and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She had been employed by the Wallace Silversmiths in Wallingford for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa LeGates and her husband, David of Meriden and Lori Cunningham of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Paul Cunningham of Wallingford, Tracy Jackson and her husband, Scott of Chester, Vt., and Christopher and Brian Freeman of Meriden; and her two great-grandchildren, Jared and Autumn Jackson of Chester, Vt. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen St. Hilaire; and her son-in-law, James Cunningham.

Funeral services and interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.
