Ruth M. Mallory

Durham -- Ruth M. Mallory, 83, of Main St., Durham, wife of Raymond Mallory, died Monday at the Middlesex Hospital surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late John and Louise (Bergfeldt) MacIntosh, and had been a Durham resident for 14 years.

Besides her husband of 60 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Jean Mallory; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy J. and Jon Anderson of Meriden; a sister, Evelyn Sullivan of Baldwin, N.Y.; five granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home Inc., 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Middlesex Weiss Hospice Unit, 28 Crescent St., Middletown 06457.

Joseph R. Valentino Sr.

NORTH HAVEN -- Joseph R. Valentino Sr., 73, of 611 Middletown Ave., North Haven, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Yolanda Viscuso Valentino.

Born in North Haven on April 29, 1928, son of the late Charles Valentino and Maria Urbano Valentino Lawrence. Mr. Valentino was a resident of North Haven all his life and attended Hopkins School. He was chosen captain of the football team and received the Outstanding Player of the year award in 1946. On Oct. 6, 1958, Mr. Valentino joined the North Haven Police Department. He was one of the departments first officers to obtain a degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven. Throughout his career, Officer Valentino was assigned to the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau and Record Division. Officer Valentino had received nine commendations for police service during his career and retired after 30 years.

He was the loving father of Joseph R. Valentino Jr. of Wallingford and Annie Valentino Upson of Branford; father-in-law of Barbara DiNuzzo Valentino and Stephen Terrill Upson; devoted grandfather of Sally Valentino Drew and her husband, Justin, Melanie Marie Valentino, Joseph R. Valentino III and Stephanie Marie Upson; brother of Philomena Milione and Mary Landino of North Haven, Carmel Affinito of New Haven and Anthony Valentino of North Haven; and step-brother of Emil and Albert Lawrence of Wallingford. He was predeceased by a brother, Matteo Valentino; his step-father, Benjamin Lawrence; and a step-brother, Alex Lawrence.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese's Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father McGivney Cancer Center, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven 06511 or to the St. Therese's Building Fund, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven 06473.

Roger W. Hackbarth

LITCHFIELD -- Roger W. Hackbarth, 61, of East Chestnut Hill Road in Litchfield, formerly of Southington, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at home.

Born in Meriden, Aug. 29, 1940, son of the late Edward G. and Alice Owen Hackbarth he had been a longtime Southington resident before moving to Litchfield 20 years ago. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had spent his lifetime working in the automobile industry, retiring in 2001 from AEI Inc., in Middlefield.

He was the husband of Mary Dziedzic Hackbarth; and was predeceased by a brother, Richard O. Hackbarth.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, at 9 a.m. from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Plantsville. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bruce P. Miller

WALLINGFORD -- Bruce P. Miller, 57, beloved husband of Donna Ramette Miller of Cheshire Road, Wallingford, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in Hartford, Sept. 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Gordon and Ruth Finlay Miller and had been a Wallingford resident for 24 years. Mr. Miller was the President of Insurance Programmers Inc., in Wallingford for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War, was a member of the Farms Country Club of Wallingford, the VFW in Rocky Hill, the Rocky Hill Lodge of Elks No. 2308, and the 100 Club of Hartford.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Joy Miller of Wallingford; his son, CPL Justin P. Miller, USMC, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; his children, Aaron Miller, Allison Miller and Meredith Miller, all of Maine; his three sisters, Beverly M. Johnson of Bridgeport, Janet M. Battalino of Manchester and Joyce M. Ouellette of Stafford Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Thursday from 5 to 7:45 p.m. Funeral services, with military honors will be in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Thursday evening at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Dean O. Warburton, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the 100 Club of Hartford, P.O. Box 419, Glastonbury, CT 06033.

Mario J. Biondi

WALLINGFORD -- Mario J. Biondi, 84, beloved husband of the late Ann C. Baummer Biondi of North Airline Road, Wallingford, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2002 with his loving family at this side after a brief illness, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in Seymour, March 27, 1918, a son of the late Angelo and Maria Biagiarelli Biondi, he had been a Wallingford resident for over 40 years. He was employed by the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, as a Power House Supervisor for 28 years until his retirement. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center and a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Mrs. William) Thompson of Wallingford; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald M. and Susan M. Biondi of Wallingford; his three grandchildren, Dawn Parkinson, John Biondi and Todd Biondi; and two sisters, Laura Bengivengo of Seymour and Elsie Valeski of Oxford; his brother, James Biondi of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors, will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Most Holy Trinity Church Preservation Project, 68 N. Colony St., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Bertha S. Frederickson

SHELTON -- Bertha S. (Farkas) Frederickson, 90, of 24 Applewood Drive, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Mediplex of Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Eric L. Frederickson.

Born Dec. 15, 1911 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Farkas. She was a member of Plantsville Congregational Church.

She was the beloved mother of Dr. E. Allan and Mrs. Frederickson of Hingham, Mass., Barbara Dibble of Shelton formerly of Southington and her late husband, Walt Dibble; beloved sister of Michael Farkas of Newburg, N.Y., and Jean Foris of Bridgeport; the beloved grandmother of Dr. Kirt and Dr. Heather Frederickson, Dr. Derek Frederickson, all of Boston, Kristin Frederickson of New York, Lee A. Dibble and his wife, Lori and Christopher Dibble and his wife, Merrilee, all of Southington, Mrs. Sherri Condon of Rocky Hill, Laurie Lococo of Deep River, Holly and Jeffrey St. Onge of Bristol and Robert K. and JoAnn Dibble of Avon; beloved great-grandmother of seven; and beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday 9 a.m. at Plantsville Congregational Church in Plantsville. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburg, N.Y. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made in her memory to MidState Hospital, 435 Lewis Ave. Meriden, CT 06450. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Robinson

WALLINGFORD -- Kathleen Richard Robinson, 63, of King St., Wallingford passed on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford, after a long term illness with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of Albert W. Robinson.

Born in Waltham, Mass., March 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Edward and Katherine Noonan Richard, she was raised in Meriden graduating from Meriden High School in 1957. She was a Wallingford resident for 41 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and had served as a volunteer for the Parker Farms School PTA. She had been active in Cub Scout Pack No. 24, and had been president of the Village Homemakers Association.

Mrs. Robinson was known in Wallingford as a local artist and florist. She owned and operated Old Tyme Florist, in the Yalesville section of Wallingford for over 20 years until his retirement last August. She had enjoyed her many friends and customers during her time in business.

Besides her loving husband, Albert, Mrs. Robinson is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Joanne Robinson and grandson, Michael Cameron of Wallingford, Timothy and Melissa Robinson and grandson, Charles, Michael and Keith of Kensington and Patrick and Joey Robinson of Naugatuck; her brother, William Richard of Naples, Fla.; her nieces, Kathy and Susan; and numerous cousins; and an aunt related to the Noonan Family of Meriden.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can send gifts in her memory to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.

Louis Rogers

MERIDEN -- Louis Rogers of Rice Road, Meriden, died at the age of 101 on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center, Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Flora Rogers for 75 years.

Born in Three Rivers, Mass., on Feb. 8, 1901, he was the last survivor of 11 children of George and Sophronia Rogers. He was a longtime resident of Fairfield, prior to his moving to Meriden in 1983. He retired from Clark Metal Products of Fairfield in 1973 after several decades of loyal service working as a machinist.

Besides his wife, Flora, he is survived by daughters, Irene MacDonald and Charlotte Dirgins and her husband, Benjamin, all of Meriden; a son, Roland Rogers and his wife, Arlene of Sanford, N.C.; he is also survived by grandchildren, Janet MacDonald, James MacDonald, Brenda Willard and her husband, Bruce, Brian Dirgins and his wife, Cindy, David Dirgins and his wife, Heidi, Daniel Dirgins and his wife, Ellen, Cheryl Louvinko and her husband, Edward and Sandra Rogers; and nine great-grandchildren.

Louis was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening and took great pleasure in spending many precious hours with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was and avid sports enthusiast throughout his life and most recently enjoyed watching baseball and basketball games.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Holy Angels RC Church, Main St., South Meriden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Cheryl Bechtold

WALLINGFORD -- Cheryl Bouza Bechtold, 42, of Parker Farms Road, Wallingford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in Wallingford. She was the wife of Albert Bechtold Jr.

Born in Meriden, June 1, 1959, a daughter of N. Thomas and Kay Smith Bouza, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident. She was a 1977 graduate of Mark T. Sheehan High School and had been employed by the Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Co., in Wallingford for the past 10 years. She previously had been employed by the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Co., in North Haven for 10 years.

Besides her husband and parents, Cheryl is survived by her sister, Tammy Bouza of Wallingford; her two brothers and sister-in-law, Steven Bouza of Wallingford and David and Colleen Bouza of Meriden; her niece, Marisa Bouza; and her dear friend, Michael Cerrone.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Wallingford Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean O. Warburton, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, officiating. Interment will be private in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
