Margaret N. Wright

SOUTHINGTON -- Margaret N. Wright, 83, of Southington, died Friday, April 26, 2002 at Belair Manor, Newington.

She was born in New Britain and was the daughter of the late Ignaz and Mary (Windish) Pfister and wife of the late Alvin Wright. Margaret worked for several years as a secretary for the Stanley Works.

Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Wright of Berlin; two brothers, Frank Pfister of Newington and John Pfister of Wethersfield; two sisters, Mitzi Jennings of Newington, Elsie Rosenberger of Springfield, Vt.; five grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Willie, Marisa and Nina; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Wright.

Funeral rites will be held Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Committal service and final resting place will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Directions to the funeral home: I-84 East or West -Exit 37- Fienemann Road, right off exit -- one mile down on right.

Tressie M. Adkins

MERIDEN -- Tressie M. Adkins, 81, formerly of 89 Park St., Meriden, wife of the late James G. Adkins, died Saturday evening, April 27, 2002, at Wadsworth Glen in Middletown after a lengthy illness.

Born in Clay, W.V. on Aug. 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Henry and Loretta White Triplett, she had lived in Prenter, W.V. prior to moving to Meriden. Mrs. Adkins attended schools in West Virginia. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Meriden.

Mrs. Adkins is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy Bruzy of Meriden and Judy and Harry Uliano of Middletown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Sue Adkins of Meriden, Joe and Sharon Adkins of Middletown, and James and Denise Adkins of Plantsville; six grandchildren, Robert Bruzy and Cheryl Voelkl of Meriden, Keith Alan Adkins of Columbus, Ohio, Dean Adkins of Newington, Dustin Adkins of Plantsville and Crystal Uliano of Middletown; two great-grandchildren, Francesca Bruzy and Rebecca Voelkl; one sister, Minnie Bailes of Summersville, W.V.; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Isaac, Demsey, Ernest and Roscoe Triplett; and a sister, Elsie Nichols, all of West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Walter Hubbard Chapel of Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden with Rev. Randy Somody, officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m.

Anna Ciarlelli

WALLINGFORD -- Anna (Kiewra) Ciarlelli, 85, wife of the late William L. Ciarlelli, died on Sunday morning, April 28, 2002, at the Meriden Center.

Born in New Haven on May 11, 1916, she had been a Wallingford resident for the past 45 years.

She is survived by a son, William J. Ciarlelli of Meriden; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bob Terry of Meriden; two grandchildren, Sherri Alicandro and Melissa Czerepuszko, both of Hopkinton, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Jill Czerepuszko of Hopkinton, Mass.; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Stanley Ruchinski of East Haven; and two brothers, Barney Kawra of Guilford and Frank Kawra of New Haven.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services to be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. There will be no calling hours. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph School, 159 W. Main St., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT.

Richard J. Kuchta

VENICE, Fla. -- Richard J. "Bud" Kuchta, 73, died Thursday, April 25, 2002.

Mr. Kuchta was born in Meriden on August 23, 1928, and had been a resident of Venice for 10 years, coming from Southington. He was a security guard for Fleet Bank in East Hartford for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Epiphany Cathedral and a member of the American Legion Post 0072 of Southington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara M. Kuchta of Venice, Fla.; his daughter, Patricia Hasychak of Hollis, N.H.; his sister, Evelyn Weaver of Southington; his brother, Dennis Kuchta of Smithfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Richard J. Kuchta III, Jeanine Kuchta, John Hasychak III, and Lara Hasychak. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard J. Kuchta Jr.

A funeral will be held at Epiphany Cathedral on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1040 Woodcock Road, Suite 119, Orlando, FL 32803-3510. Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Nagel

MERIDEN -- Sarah (Soroka) Nagel, 51, of 18 Tunxis Circle, wife of Peter R. Nagel, died Sunday morning, April 28, 2002, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a lengthy illness.

Born in Meriden, on Oct. 30, 1950, the daughter of the late Michael and Dolores Finn Soroka, she attended local schools and received her licensed Practical Nurse Degree from Bristol Hospital. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Catherine Nagel of Meriden; also numerous cousins and aunt.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, from 5 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Eliot B. Stretch Jr.

MERIDEN -- Eliot B. Stretch Jr., 68, of 76 Butler St., died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at his residence.

Born in Meriden, on May 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Eliot B. and Mignon Davis Stretch, Sr. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and the University of Connecticut, and had been employed as a housing inspector and assistant city manager for the City of Meriden. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and was also a member of the UConn Club and St. Mary's Men's Club. He leaves no survivors. He was predeceased by a brother, Harlan Stretch.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Hubbard Chapel in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Frazier will officiate. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT .

Irene L. Zawilinski

MIDDLETOWN -- Irene L. Zawilinski, of Wadsworth Glen, died April 27, 2002, at Middlesex Hospital.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Misenti of Middletown; two sisters, twin sister Eleanor Lamothe of Meriden and Joan Cosky of Middletown.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Pius X Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Tressie M. Adkins

MERIDEN -- Tressie M. Adkins, 81, formerly of 52A Park St., Meriden, wife of the late James G. Adkins, died Saturday evening, April 27, 2002, at Wadsworth Glen in Middletown after a lengthy illness.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Isaac, Demsey, Ernest and Roscoe Triplett; and a sister, Elsie Nichols, all of West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Walter Hubbard Chapel of Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden with Rev. Randy Somody, officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden has charge of arrangements.

William M. Brown

MERIDEN -- William M. Brown, 66, of Meriden, husband of Patricia Austin Brown, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Meriden Center after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on Feb. 22, 1936, the son of the late Amos and Marie Mansolf Brown, he had resided in Meriden his entire life and attended local schools. Mr. Brown was self-employed in the trucking business for over 45 years, retiring in 1983 and a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former NASCAR driver at Stafford Springs.

Besides his wife of 44 years, Patricia, he s survived by one foster daughter, Christine Sands of Corinna, Maine; one sister, Sandra Woronick of Burnham, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa B. Hill of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a brother, Amos L. Brown Jr. of Apopka, Fla.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee St., Meriden with the Rev. Joel Rissinger officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Shirley M. Calandrella

WALLINGFORD -- Shirley Marie Calandrella, 77, formerly of East Side Terrace, Wallingford entered into rest eternal, Sunday, April 28, 2002. She was the wife of the late John F. Calandrella Sr.

She was the mother of John R. Calandrella Jr. of Branford; grandmother of Craig Ouellette of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and sister-in-law of Ray Calandrella of Hamden. She was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Thomaston Amellin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, Hamden. There will be no calling hours. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Brook Hollow Health Care Center, 55 Kondracki Lane, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements in care of Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Hamden.
