Llewellyn D. Cornwell

WOLFEBORO, N.H. -- Llewellyn D. Cornwell, 98, of Clipper Drive, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire died April 27, 2002 at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, N.H.

He was born on April 5, 1904 in Rossway, Nova Scotia, and had lived in Wallingford, for 60 years where he was employed as a farm manager, for Hall Brothers Hatchery in Wallingford. While in Wallingford he was a longtime member of the Wallingford Grange No. 33. Mr. Cornwell moved to Wolfeboro in 1986. He was predeceased by his wife Mabelle (Hall) Cornwell in Sept. of 1993.

Mr. Cornwell is survived by his son, Ralph W. Cornwell, and his wife, Christine Christiansen of Melvin Village, N.H.; a grandson, Andrew Cornwell of Concord, N.H.; five granddaughters, Sally Cornwell of Wolfeboro, N.H., Robin Cornwell of Wolfeboro, N.H., Jennifer Cornwell, North Hampton, Mass., Jessica Kelly of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Janis Cornwell of Wolfeboro, N.H.; four great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

Funeral services will be Wednesday 10 a.m. in the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 So. Elm St., Wallingford, with the Rev. Brendan McCormick Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. If friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Asthma-American Lung Association of CT, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.

Sharon L. Lane

NEW HAVEN -- Sharon L. D'Amato Lane, 54, of 559 Orange St., New Haven, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the CT. Hospice, Branford.

Born in New Haven on Sept. 26, 1947, daughter of Andrew and Helen Mattie D'Amato of Clearwater, Fla. She had worked as an Administrative Assistant for Human Resources for AAA for the past year.

She was the mother of John M. Lane of Woodbury, Daniel B. Lane of Las Vegas; sister of Phyllis "Pudgie" and James Standish of Meriden and Paul and Francine D'Amato of Wallingford, Andrew and Suzanne D'Amato of Milton, Mass., and Joyce and Sean Moriarty of Richmond, Va.; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Andrew F. O'Leary Sr.

CHESHIRE -- Andrew F. O'Leary Sr., 74, of 8 Ives Hill Court and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died Monday, April 29, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Wild) O'Leary.

Mr. O'Leary was born Sept. 19, 1927 in Waterbury, son of the late Daniel and Jane (Walsh) O'Leary and was a lifelong Cheshire resident. He was educated in Waterbury schools and attended Babson College in Boston. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was employed as Lieutenant and Director of Operations at the Cheshire Police Department where he was employed for 25 years. After retiring, he was Director of Security at Bozzuto's in Cheshire, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Santa Fe Council in Cheshire; was active in the Special Olympics and was on the Board of Directors at Georgian Courts in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mr. O'Leary was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Central Connecticut Marine Corps League. He was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church.

He leaves a daughter, Catherine Jortner and her husband, Frederick of Berlin; two sons, Andrew O'Leary Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Cheshire and Patrick O'Leary Sr. of Cheshire; his companion, Florence Savelle of Cheshire; a brother, Francis Leary of Waterbury; eight grandchildren, Andrew O'Leary III, Erin O'Leary, Patrick O'Leary Jr., Rachel O'Leary, Frederick Jortner Jr., Michael Jortner, Kate Jortner and Andy Jortner; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel O'Leary.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St., Cheshire to St. Bridget's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the CT Association for Retarded Citizens, 1030 New Britain Ave., W. Hartford, CT 06110.

Florine Page

MERIDEN -- Florine Meyer Page, 81, formerly of 88 Mattabasset Drive, died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Masonic Geriatric Healthcare in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Clarence R. (Jim) Page.

Born in Meriden, July 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alberta Tefft Meyer and was a graduate of Meriden High School. She was the school secretary at the Israel Putnam School and spent her summers camping at her beloved North Truro on Cape Cod and also enjoyed spending time in Marco Island, Fla. She was very active at the First Congregational Church in Meriden where she served on various committees and volunteered as church secretary.

She is survived by four sons and their wives, Russ D. and Joan Page of Watkinsville, Ga., Fred T. and Kathy Page of Wallingford, Jim R. and Frances Page of Glen Allen, Va., and Tom M. and Kathie Page of Meriden; two sisters, Mildred Zezeck and Mary Spencer, both of Meriden; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Zimmer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Kenneth Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Page's member may be made to the Camp Claire Fund, c/o First Congregational Church, 62 Colony St., Meriden, CT 06451.

Robert W. Pender

WALLINGFORD -- Robert W. Pender, 79, 74 Jobs Road, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Feeney) Pender.

Born in Meriden on June 4, 1922, the son of the late David and Clara Pender. He had retired 17 years ago from CT Valley Hospital in Middletown.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Korab and her fiancee, Craig Finn of Meriden; two grandchildren, Jamieson and Jarred Korab; a sister-in-law, Jere Feeney; a brother-in-law, Joseph and his wife, Donna Feeney; a sister-in-law, and her husband, Julia and John Mikosz; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Edith Burr, Jane Pender and Edna Picciarello; and two brothers Harry and David Pender.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.

Shirley D. Porter

MERIDEN -- Shirley Dean Porter, 91, formerly of Heritage Commons in Middletown, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Bradley Home in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Porter.

Born June 3, 1910 in Brattleboro, Vt, she was the daughter of the late Delmar and Mabel Littlefield Trout. Her father, the Rev. Delmar Trout was the original Pastor of the Universalist Church in Meriden. She was a graduate in 1930 of the Smith Culver Kindergarten Training School in Hartford and was a member of the Connecticut teachers Association. She was a 50 year member of the Frederica Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and had been a member of the Universalist Church in Meriden.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Peter Kenefick of Old Saybrook; three grandchildren, Peter Kenefick Jr. of San Clemente, Calif., Ellen Duran of port St. Lucie, Fla., and Scott Kenefick of Thomasville, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Alex Kenefick and Julia Kenefick of San Clemente, Calif., Jason Duran of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Ishmael Kenefick of Thomasville, N.C. She was predeceased by a grandson, Peter Kenefick III.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Porter's memory may be made to The Bradley Home, 320 Colony St., Meriden, CT 06451.

John J. Pytel

SOUTHINGTON -- John J. Pytel, 81, of Atwater St., in the Plantsville section of Southington, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. He was the husband of 49 years of Elizabeth Matusiewicz Pytel.

Born in New Britain, Oct. 11, 1920, son of the late Jacob and Caroline Nowack Pytel, he had been a Plantsville resident for the past 47 years. Mr. Pytel served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Falcons New Britain Nest 88 and of the American Federation of Musicians. Before his retirement in 1986, he worked for Pratt and Whitney in Southington.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Pytel Jr. and his wife, Carol of Thomaston and Robert Pytel of Plantsville; two brothers, Edward and Stanley Pytel, both of New Britain; one granddaughter, Heather; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Genevieve Gladowski.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, at 9 a.m. from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred Warzocha

WALLINGFORD -- Mildred Cadette DeRoy Warzocha, 93, of Wallingford, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Brook Hollow Health Care Center in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Warzocha.

Born in Wallingford, Aug. 6, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Clara L'Heureux Cadette, and had been a lifelong resident. She was employed by the International Silver Company of Meriden for 30 years until her retirement, and was a member for the North Haven Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by the loving members of both her DeRoy and Warzocha families, her daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Steve) Perkowski of Wallingford; her daughters-in-law, Iris (Mrs. Richard) DeRoy of Wallingford and Barbara (Mrs. Robert) Warzocha of Yalesville; her seven grandchildren, JoAnn Kelman and her husband, Charles, Robert A. DeRoy and his wife, Carol, Dianne Marcantonio and her husband, Ed, John Perkowski and his wife, Sherry, Warren Warzocha, Kim Moran and her husband, Christopher and Steven Perkowski and his wife, Pamela; her 11 great-grandchildren, Pamela, Kristine, Daryl, Heather, Amee, Kelly, Megan, Kayla, Kyssandra, Bobby and Catie; her five great-great-grandchildren, Kevin, Ashlie, Daniel, Alex and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Romero A. DeRoy; and her two sons, Richard A. DeRoy and Robert L. Warzocha.

Her family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Brook Hollow Health Care Center, for the love, care and support given to Mildred.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Holy Trinity School, 11 No. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, or to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06450.

Cecilia M. Wrinn

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Cecilia M. Wrinn, 86, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Meriden, beloved wife of Norbert F. Wrinn, died Sunday, April 14, 2002 at the Mariner Health Center, Clearwater, Fla.

Born Jan. 30, 1916 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Laura Charbonneau. Mrs. Wrinn was a resident of Meriden and for 30 years before moving to Florida.

Besides her beloved husband of 63 years, she is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Paul Mik Sr. of Meriden and Barbara Irace of Southington; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph F. and Mary Wrinn of Winchester, Mass.; six grandchildren, Paul Jr., David and Susan Mik, Patrick Wrinn, Alicia Irace and Nicole Gionet; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Seth, Keegan and Piper Mik, Jeffrey and Ashley Gionet; Mrs. Wrinn also leaves an aunt, Irene Thomas of Waterbury. She was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Unsworth, son of Barbara Irace; three brothers; and one sister.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 3, at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Mrs. Wrinn's family respectfully request donations in her memory be made in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association Southern Connecticut Chapter, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518. The Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden is in charge of arrangements.
