Ernest J. Dighello

WALLINGFORD -- Ernest J. Dighello, 80, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Carmel Golino Dighello, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002.

Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Wallingford, he was a son of the late Mark and Carmela Sagnella Dighello, and had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. He was employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Wallingford for 30 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.

Besides his beloved wife, Carmel, he is survived by two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, one sister and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services and interment with military honors will be private. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Jesse C. Graham

DEERFIELD, NH -- Jesse C. Graham, 23, formerly of Wallingford, of Deerfield, NH, died on Monday, May 27, 2002.

Family includes parents, Bruce and Kathleen (Brown) Graham of Deerfield, NH; brother, Jason of Mesa, AZ; sister, Kelly of Deerfield, NH; paternal grandparents, Roger and Alzita (Leal) Graham of Meriden. He was predeceased by grandparents, Ralph and Marjorie (Rice) Brown.

A memorial reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, in Deerfield Community Church, 11 Old Center Road, Deerfield, NH.

Frances Johnson

WALLINGFORD -- Frances Eve Johnson, 72, of 225 Chimney Hill Road, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of Wayne Johnson.

Born Dec. 24, 1929, in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Ksawera Przybyszewski Lewoc. She was a 1948 graduate of Meriden High School after which she attended Albertus Magnus College. She was employed as an admitting officer at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was a member of South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member for many years of Rachel Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and James Keithan of Litchfield, and Lisa Johnson of New Britain; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony Lewoc, Benjamin Lewoc and Fabian Lewoc.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, at South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan DeSousa will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Johnson's memory may be made to the South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church, 145 Main St., South Meriden, CT 06451.

Joseph H. Leiner

HIGGANUM -- Joseph H. Leiner, 88, of Higganum, husband of the late Hazel (Bolles) Leiner, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Roncalli Health Center in Cromwell.

He was born in New Britain, son of the late Anton and Johanna (Binder) Leiner. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years for the Ward Maier Co. and later retired as a sheet metalist from Union Lodge 40, Rocky Hill. He was past secretary of the Bolles Family Assoc., a life member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 771 and a life member of the Sheet Metalist Union No. 40 for 50 years.

He leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Jerome Niland of Anneville, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Marilyn Leiner of New Britain; two brothers, John E. Leiner and Edward Leiner, both of New Britain; a sister, Sylvia Fredericks of New Britain; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Carl and Frank Leiner.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will be in Burr District Cemetery, Higganum. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Biega Funeral Home.

Hazel Sabo

MERIDEN -- Hazel Gizella Sabo, wife of the late Joseph L. Sabo, originally from Trumbull, CT, died Thursday, May 23, 2002. She was 94 years of age.

She is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Helen Ann Sabo, and Dorothy and Thomas Mezzei, all of Wallingford; her two granddaughters and grandson, and their spouses, Dorothy and Robert Gattalia of Austin, TX, Robyn and Thomas Case of Wallingford, and Thomas and Lisa Mezzei of Wallingford; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sabo was interred on Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden, in a private ceremony officiated by the Rev. Dean O. Warburton. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Omer A. Allard

WALLINGFORD -- Omer A. Allard, 86, of Hope Hill Road, Wallingford, beloved husband of Donalda Gamelin Allard, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

Born Oct. 15, 1915, in Manchester, NH, he was a son of the late Albert and Eugene Lavie're and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He was employed by the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of North Haven for 25 years until his retirement, was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, was a past member of the VFW Major Raoul Lufbery Post 591 of Wallingford, a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Men's Club of the parish.

Besides his beloved wife Donalda, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Irene M. and Thomas H. Keithan; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond G. and Zalita A. Allard, and Robert R. and Kathleen L. Allard, all of Wallingford; his 12 grandchildren, Jamie R. Keithan of Wallingford, Cristen M. Barriera of Meriden, Stephanie L. Keithan of New Haven, Christopher M. Keithan of Wallingford, Donald Allard of Wallingford, Jeffrey LaMoria of Meriden, Mark R. Allard of Wallingford Craig R. Allard of Clinton, Melissa R. Bilotta of Woodbridge, Robert R. Allard Jr. of Waterbury, Tracy B. Allard of Wallingford and Scott T. Allard of Bennington, VT; seven great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Beatrice LaValle, Claire Caruthers and Yvette Fortin, all of Riverside, CA; his brother, Ralph Allard of Salem, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pauline L. LaMoira; and a sister and two brothers.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 31, from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Isidro "Junior" Carrero

MERIDEN -- Isidro Carrero Jr., 48, formerly of Curtis Street, beloved husband of Margarita Orsini-Carrero, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000.

Born Oct. 26, 1951, in Rincon, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Isidro Carrero and the late Victalia (Lorenzo) Carrero. Junior attended St. Rose of Lima Church and was employed by Lori Lock as a machine operator for over 15 years.

Besides his wife of Meriden and father of East Hartford, he is survived by two sons, Eric Carrero and Robert Rodriguez, both of Meriden; four daughters, Jeanette and husband, Cliff Kulas of Plantsville, Magaly "Maggie" Carrero of Meriden, Rebecca and husband, Phil Talarico of New Britain, and Rosie Rodriguez of Meriden; four brothers, Benjamin and wife, Saida Carrero of East Hartford, Wilfredo Carrero of Hartford, Israel Carrero of Puerto Rico and Jose Carrero of East Hartford; three sisters, Zoraida Carrero of Puerto Rico, Gloria Rodriguez of New York and Sara Negron of East Hartford. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan, Krystle, Kevin and Michael; and many nieces and nephews. Junior was predeceased by a sister, Carmen Rodriguez.

Funeral services and burial will take place in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Family and friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in Junior's memory. Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Barbara H. Mullin

WALLINGFORD -- Barbara H. Mullin, 50, of Pierson Drive, Wallingford, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Robert B. Motivans.

Born in Boston, Mass., Oct. 16, 1951, she was a daughter of Joseph V. Mullin of South Weymouth, Mass., and the late Edna Clinkscale Mullin, and had been a Wallingford resident for 18 years. She was a Clinical Nurse Specialist and had been employed by the Visiting Nurses of Wallingford for several years.

Besides her beloved husband, Robert and her father, Joseph, she is survived by her daughter, Lauren M. Mullin of Bristol; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Saturday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Catholic Family Services, 61 Colony St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Kathleen K. Sheppard

SOUTHINGTON -- Kathleen K. Sheppard, 81, of 243 South End Road, Plantsville section, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at home. She was the widow of John L. Sheppard.

Born in Southington on June 10, 1920, the daughter of the late Martin G. and Mary (O'Neil) Kavanaugh. She was a member of Mary Our Queen Church and the first women member of the church's parish council . Mrs. Sheppard was a past President of the church's ladies guild. She was a past president of the American Legion Post No. 72 Women's Auxiliary. Prior to her retirement in 1979, she was Secretary for the Southington Public Health Association for 15 years.

She is survived by a son, James J. Sheppard of Plantsville; three daughters, Mary Javis , Kathleen Grindle and her husband, Ron, all of Beauford, S.C., and Luann Plourde and her husband, Gary of Southington; a sister, Mary Morganson of Meriden; five grandchildren, Christopher and Colleen Jarvis, Sarah Grindle, Jaclyn and Gary Plourde; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Jarvis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, John Christopher Sheppard; and a son-in-law, Michael Jarvis.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 9:30 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. has charge of arrangements.
