Lillian T. Neligon
MIDDLETOWN -- Lillian T. (Morneau) Neligon, 83, formerly of Meriden, widow of the late Francis P. Neligon II, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Middletown.
Born in Springfield, a daughter of the late Albert and Eva Morneau, she had lived in Meriden prior to moving to Middletown. She was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Meriden. Mrs. Neligon was an avid golfer and was in the Real Estate business in the Meriden area before retiring.
She leaves three son, Francis and Gail Neligon of Meriden, Normand and Nancy Neligon of East Haven and David and Barbara Neligon of Middlefield; one daughter, Susan M. Neligon of Marlborough; five brothers, Leland Morneau of Hawaii, Lawrence Morneau of Longmeadow, Mass., Norman Morneau and Gerard Morneau, both of Springfield, Mass.; four sisters, Annette Gioielli of Manchester, Lucille Belton of Nashua, N.H., Irene Antaean of Springfield, Mass., and Sister Pauline Morneau of Manchester, N.H.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Neligon was predeceased by a brother, Edward Morneau.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 405 Boston Road, Springfield, Mass., on Monday, July 29, at 12 p.m. followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield, Mass. The Glastonbury Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Celia M. Parese
NORTH HAVEN -- Celia Mary Ciszek Parese, 83, of 125 Kings Highway, North Haven, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the Hospital of St. Raphael's. She was the wife of Emilio (Gooch) Parese.
Born in Wallingford on Dec. 30, 1918, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Jajesnica Ciszek. She had worked for the Stanley Judd Company.
She was the mother of Mary Parese Emerson of Hamden, John A. Parese of North Branford and Stanley E. Parese of Williamstown, Mass.; sister of Nellie Loin of Wallingford; also survived by 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Papa; and a brother, Leo Ciszek.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Monday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Charles O. Pratt
WALLINGFORD -- Charles Oliver Pratt, 76, of 73 Ashlar Village, formerly of 428 Barton Drive, Orange, died Friday, July, 26, 2002 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, Wallingford. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Stryker Pratt.
He was born in Bridgeport, April 24, 1926, a son of the late Roydon Pratt Sr. and the late Maude Lane Pratt. He was a graduate of Purdue University and the Yale Graduate Program Bureau of Highway Traffic. Mr. Pratt was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an Associate of Wilbur Smith Associates Consulting Transportation Engineers of New Haven and worked on designing Connecticut, Washington DC and Baltimore beltways, and also did consulting work all over the U.S., Hawaii and Canada. Mr. Pratt was a life member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and he was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. He was very active in church affairs in the Orange Congregational Church for many years where he served as deacon, head deacon and stewartship chairman. He also served for several years on the board of Rideworks of New Haven.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Thomas W. Pratt of New York City, N.Y., David C. Pratt of Mystic and Lee S. Pratt of Canton, Mass.; a brother, Roydon Shaw Pratt Jr. of Bayonet Point, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Mladinov of Delmar, N.Y., and Carol McCauley of Beacon Falls; and three grandchildren, Josette and Andrew Pratt and Hannah Stryker Pratt.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July, 28, at 3 p.m. at the Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Lane, Orange. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. May D. Spignesi
WALLINGFORD -- May D. Spignesi, formerly of Wallingford, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 in the Curtis Home in Meriden with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was the wife of the late Dr. John T. Spignesi.
Born in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Blanche Du Bois. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing. She had been a Wallingford resident for many years and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria Spignesi Lionello and William Lionello of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, John "Ted" Spignesi Jr. and Linda Spignesi of Meriden; her four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Mary Ann Spignesi and Christina Ann Spignesi; four brothers; and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery. Calling hours will be private. Florence C. Chlapowski
WEBSTER, Mass. -- Florence C. (Leduc) Chlapowski, 96, died Monday, July 29, 2002 after an illness. Among her relative, she leaves a daughter, Esther North of Southington.
The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Frank Costa
MERIDEN -- Frank Costa, 89, husband of Helen Gurbach Costa, died on Monday, July 29, 2002 at MidState Medical Center.
Born in New York City on May 24, 1913, he was the son of the late Benedetto and MaryGrace Costa. He had resided in Meriden for 25 years and was employed by Colonial Sand & Stone in New York City, retiring in 1976. Mr. Costa was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church and enjoyed shooting pool at the Senior Center.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dolores Costa-Barys and John G. Barys of Meriden; a son, Frank V. Costa of Meriden; three grandchildren, John M. Barys, Joseph Barys and Cheryl Barys-Lockman; four great-grandchildren, Scott Lockman, Christa Lockman, Kellie Barys and Willie Barys; one sister, Natalie Gambino of New York City; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Sam Costa, Nick Costa, Joseph Costa and Natale Costa; and one sister, Jean Buckley.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, South Meriden. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery
in Proctor, Vt., on Friday, Aug. 2. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
William I. Crandall Sr.
WALLINGFORD -- William I. Crandall Sr., 79, of Hill Ave., Yalesville section of Wallingford, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 in the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of 55 years of late Lois Fonda Conrad Crandall.
Born in New Haven, Aug. 12, 1922, a son of the late Irving and Grace Rogers Crandall, he was a West Haven resident for many years before moving to Wallingford 41 years ago. He had been employed as a supervisor by SNET for many years until his retirement and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea.
Mr. Crandall is survived by his daughter, June L. Fellows of East Haddam and her fiancé, Philip T. Guertin of Newington; his son, William I. Crandall Jr. and his fiancée, Jamie Proud, both of Texas ; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James R. Crandall.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Wednesday from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Yalesville Funeral Home at 5 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Bish, pastor of the Heritage Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be private in the State Veterans Cemetery

Dorothy-Jean Evon
WALLINGFORD -- Dorothy-Jean Ferguson Evon, 79, of South Side Terrace, Wallingford, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 in the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Evon Sr.
Born in Northford, Aug. 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Tracey and Pauline Kanengeser Ferguson, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident.
Mrs. Evon is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mauriann L. Cella and Atty. Carl E. Cella of Wallingford; her two sons and daughter-in-law, Frank J. Evon Jr. of Wallingford and Donald P. Evon and Denise Mount of Farmington; her six grandchildren and their spouses, Carl E. Cella Jr. and Diane Cella of Wallingford, David S. Cella and Alida Cella of Wallingford, Atty. Lynn Cella-Coyne and Joshua Coyne of Wallingford, Robert T. Evon of New York City, Tracey A. Evon of Wallingford and Kristen F. Evon of Milford; her brother, Donald T. Ferguson of Wallingford; her aunt, Lena Caswell of Wallingford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to the In Memoriam Cemetery

Mary Paczek
MERIDEN -- Mary Paczek, 83, 33 Roy St., Meriden and formerly of Crown St., Meriden, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford.
She was born Feb. 2, 1919 in Meriden, a daughter of the late John and Anna Paczek. Mary was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was educated in local schools. She retired from the Fosdick Corporation of Wallingford and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Ms. Paczek is survived by five cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
