Virginia Westwood

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. -- Virginia Boyd Westwood, 89, of Fairhaven, Mass., died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002.

Born in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Gilbert D. and Anne McCoy Boyd. She attended grammar school and the Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and Tufts University in Medford, Mass.

She is survived by her husband, The Rev. Horace F. Westwood; and a daughter, Joan Anderson of Mattapoisett, Mass.; a brother, Gilbert Boyd of Wallingford; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Wallis F. Westwood; a sister, Ruth Bailey of Hudson, N.Y.; and brothers, Wallis A., Dr. Robert B. and John A. Boyd of Wallingford.

Dianne Ellsworth

MERIDEN -- Dianne Ellsworth of 62 Harrington St., Meriden, passed away after a brief illness, at in the loving presence of her sisters. She was 55.

Diane is survived by her father, Kenneth Ellsworth of Becket, Mass.; sisters, Judy Warner of New Britain, Kathy Matthews of Middletown; a brother, Gary Ellsworth and his lady, Diane Wolcott of Coventry, R.I. Born in Bangor, Maine to Ethel Knox Ellsworth (deceased 2/28/02) she leaves beloved cousins, Gail and Peter D'Agostino of North Haven, Roberta Trafton of Hamden, James Ellsworth of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; her aunt, Cecelia Ellsworth of Hamden; her dog, Coco; and many more family members and friends. Constant companions at her side in her final days were close special friends, Greg Steltner of New Britain and Barbara Ritchie of Meriden.

Diane was employed at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford for the last seven years as a professional administrator. She was a 1965 graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Connecticut Hospice of Branford. Her family will be planning a memorial tribute to celebrate her life at a date to be determined. There will be a private burial service with her mother at an appropriate time in Stillwater, Maine. Farrell Funeral Home of New Britain has charge of arrangements.

Helen Quinn

MERIDEN -- Helen Quinn, 64, of Meriden, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002.

She was born April 29, 1938 to Elmer Quinn and the late Helen (Alabaster) Quinn in Boston, Mass. Before her illness she was active in her church and family.

There will be no calling hours, burial will take place in the Tresport, La., at a later date. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden is assisting with the arrangements.

Cecelia J. Symolon

MERIDEN -- Cecelia J. Symolon, 92, of 33 Cone Ave., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at the Coccomo Memorial Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Aloysius S. Symolon.

She was born in Wallingford, Oct. 23, 1909, a daughter of the late Stanley and Honorata Nitz Cyprinski. Until her retirement, she worked as a secretary at the International Silver Company for 48 years.

She is survived by a niece and her husband, Leigh and Niels Peter Wigforss of Durham; and a dear friend, Elizabeth Rusczek of Wallingford. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services and burial will be private at In Memoriam Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford is in charge of arrangements.

Stephen G. Eno

MERIDEN -- Stephen G. Eno, 63, of 76 Butler St., died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Burlington, Vt., on March 17, 1939, the son of the late Frank and Rena (Lambert) Eno, and the step-son of the late Albert Arnold. He had resided in Meriden for most of his life and was employed by Carabetta Management of Meriden. He was a peace time veteran having served with the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church and enjoyed the martial arts.

He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret (Eno) Wirich, Joanne Panciera and her husband, George Jr., all of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James and Eileen Eno of Margate, Fla. and Frank Eno of Meriden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Raymond J. Parys

MERIDEN -- Raymond J. Parys, 72, of 210 Dana Lane, husband of Alice Davignon Parys, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in New Britain, May 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Kaminski Parys. Mr. Parys had resided in Meriden for the past 30 years and was a graduate of the University of Hartford. He was employed by the former Times and Wire and Cable Company for 28 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Parys was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church. Mr. Parys was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cheshire, DAV, VFW, American Legion and the NRA.

Besides his wife, Alice, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Mark Glynn of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Leslie Parys of Cheshire; and a step-daughter, Sherry Berdych of Meriden; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ceil and Paul Bernacki of Newington, Dorothy and Jack Arbuthnah of New Bern, N.C.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Anita Parys of Plainville. Mr. Parys is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers.

A graveside service with military honors accorded by the Antique Veterans will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at 11 a.m. in St. Laurent Cemetery, Hanover Rd., So. Meriden, with Rev. Roland M. LaPlante, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Church, 915 Main St., So. Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home.

Robert L. Revere Sr.

BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Robert Lee Revere Sr., 77, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Akron General Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Emily Wilcox Revere.

Mr. Revere was born in Wallingford in 1925, a son of the late Lee French "Dick" and Marie Donovan Revere and was raised in Connecticut, spending his married years in Wallingford and Guilford where he was married and raised three children. Mr. Revere was a graduate of Choate and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp stationed in Sebring, Fla. Mr. Revere was general manager of manufacturing for Insilco Corporation, formerly International Silver Co. for 35 years. He spend the last 18 years of his retirement with his wife in Apopka, Fla., where they enjoyed a pleasant life with family, enjoying golf and entertaining often. Bob was a member of the Rolling Acres Community Church in Apopka, Fla. and formerly a member of the First Congregational Church of Madison. He was a wonderful musician with a special love for music of the forties. His performances on drums and piano are often remembered fondly by friends and family, and his musical gifts have been passed along to his children and their children.

In addition to his wife, Emily, he is survived by three children, Robert L. Revere Jr. of Bear, Dele., Linda Rakowski of Wallingford and Ellen Loomis of Medina, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Matthew John Rakowski of Connecticut, William French Revere, Windsor Sherlin Revere, Rachel Caroline Akers, all of Florida, Whitney Revere Loomis, Madison Revere Loomis and Bennett Revere Loomis, all of Medina, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents.

Waite and Sons Funeral Home, Medina Chapel handled arrangements and a graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at the New Cemetery in Northford. There are no calling hours. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., is in charge of local arrangements.

Claire M. Andrews

NORWICH -- Claire (Ecker) Sorenson Andrews, 96, of 50 Wayne Street, died Sunday morning with her family by her side.

She was born in Meriden, Jan. 23, 1906, daughter of the late F. Lawrence and Ida (Brechlin) Ecker. On June 28, 1930, she was united in marriage to Orville Sorenson in Meriden. Mr. Sorenson died on Jan. 18, 1980. On Oct. 19, 1985, she was united in marriage to Albert Andrews in Norwich. Mr. Andrews of Wallingford, survives his wife.

Claire is survived by her daughter, Carole (Sorenson) Morell and her dear son-in-law, Konstant Morell of Norwich; seven grandchildren, Sean Riordan of Pompano, Fla., Gregory Morell of Keller, Texas , William Morell of Quaker Hill, Conn., Constance Purple of Norwich, Jennifer Evans of Norwich; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sorenson is predeceased by one daughter, Janice Claire (Sorenson) Riordan who died Sept. 30, 1976. She is also predeceased by a beloved granddaughter, Dana (Morell) O'Hearn who died on Nov. 4, 1992.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff St., Norwich. Burial will be private. Calling hour will be on Wednesday, 11 a.m. to the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 248 Broadway, Norwich, CT 06360.

Anna C. Dudac

SOUTHINGTON -- Anna C. (Martonak) Dudac, 84, of 623 W. Center St. Ext., died on Sept. 21, 2002, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John E. Dudac.

Anna was born on Oct. 20, 1917, in Ansonia and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Baran) Martonak. She had retired from the Light Metals Corp. of Southington. Anna was the beloved mother of seven children, sons, George Dudac and his wife, Marianne, John Dudac and his wife, Linda, Joseph Dudac and his wife Crystal, and Charles Dudac and his wife, Darlene, all of Southington; daughters, Ann Savino and her husband, Leonard of Bristol, Carol Albert and her husband, Gilman of Southington, Evelyn Brindzik of Southington and her late husband, Andrew Brindzik. She is also survived by two brothers, Peter Martonak of Florida and Steven Martonak of Ansonia; three sisters, Mary Velleco of Seymour, Julia Giovacchino and Theresa Pelaggi, both of Ansonia; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her son-in-law, Andrew, she was predeceased by a sister, Helen Narowski.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
