Helen Wactowski

WALLINGFORD -- Helen Wactowski, 93, formerly of Judd Square, Wallingford, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Meriden.

Born in Wallingford, Jan. 6, 1908, a daughter of the late Hanna Savitsky, she was a lifelong Wallingford resident. She had been employed by the New Departure Co. for many years until her retirement in 1970. She was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church.

Miss Wactowski is survived by her sister, Mary (Mrs. Irving) Chall of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Sophie Wactowski, Josephine Wactowski, and Catherine Brozie; and her two brothers, Bernard Wactowski and Joseph Wactowski.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 North Orchard St., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Stacia Wrona

MERIDEN -- Stacia (Rish) Wrona, 87, of Alanby Drive, wife of the late Michael W. Wrona, died on Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 2002, after a brief illness.

Born in Wallingford on Feb. 1, 1915, the daughter of the late Anthony Rish, Sr. and Mary Katwice Rish, she had been a Meriden resident for over 60 years. She attended local schools and was employed by the International Silver Co. for some 35 years, retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Wrona is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Janet A. Wrona of Meriden, and Stephen J. Wrona of Meriden; two grandchildren, Atty. Michael S. Wrona and his wife, Laurie of Wethersfield, and Joy A. Wrona of Willington; one great-grandson, Nathaniel; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Moore of Wallingford; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Marie Rish of Wallingford, and Anthony Rish of Meriden; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Steven Rish of Northford; and by three sisters, Agnes Rossi of Meriden, and Helen Tiburski and Annie Cricco, both of Wallingford.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Edna Caswell

SOUTHINGTON -- Edna Madelane (Schwartz) Caswell, 98, of Southington, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Southington Care Center. She was the widow of Claude F. Caswell, who died in 1973.

Born in Meriden, she was a former New Britain resident, moving to Southington in 1998. She was a graduate of Meriden High School.

Surviving is a daughter, Ruth Amnott and her husband, Richard of Southington; a sister, Dorothy Winkle of Meriden; five grandchildren, Beverly Crisafulli of Berlin, William Bradlau of Lawton, Ok., Roger Bradlau of Houston, Texas , Robert Amnott of Southington and Tammy Amnott of West Haven; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Thursday at 10 a.m. in Stanley Memorial Church, 639 East St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to the Stanley Memorial Church.

Henry J. Durin

ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- Henry J. Durin, 60 of Endicott, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 after a long illness.

Born in Meriden, May 20, 1942, he resided in Meriden most of his life.

He is survived by two sisters, Lucy Durin and Noreen Durin of Meriden; one brother, Robert Durin of Merrimack, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and aunts; and a long time companion, Lisa Roberts of Endicott, N.Y.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Grace Jacunski

WALLINGFORD -- Grace Lewis Jacunski, 84, wife of Harry Jacunski of 2123 Ashlar Village, Wallingford, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at St. Raphael's Hospital, New Haven.

She was born April 26, 1918 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Thomas and Jeanette Devenport Lewis. During World War II, she was a member of the U.S. Navy WAVES. She worked as a secretary for the head football coach of Yale University for 35 years, retiring in 1985. She was a former Ansonia resident, a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelton, and attended the First Baptist Church of Wallingford.

She is survived by two step-sons, Robert Jacunski of Wallingford and Richard Jacunski of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two step-daughters, Carol Fiore of Exeter, N.H., and Margaret Monaco of Norristown, Pa.; one sister, Dorothea Sharpe of Shelton; and one niece and three nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Thomas Lewis Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Shelton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Calling hours were Monday from 4 o 7 p.m. The Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St., Ansonia is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First Baptist Church of Shelton's Building Fund, Leavenworth Road, 06484.

William W. Bailey Sr.

SOUTHINGTON -- Mr. William W. Bailey Sr., 85, of the Plantsville section of Southington died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, after a long illness.

He was born in Durham, June 30, 1917, son of the late Arthur and Emma (Brown) Bailey, and had been a resident of Plantsville for the past seven years. He was the husband of the late Naomi (Grannis) Bailey for 36 years. Mr. Bailey was employed by Chandler Evans Corporation of West Hartford for 45 years, retiring in 1987. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, during World War II. He was a member of both the Masons and the American Legion. He was enthusiastically involved with Boy Scouting for many years. He was past-president of the Brown family reunion of Middletown.

He leaves nine children, William Bailey Jr. of Bristol, Marilyn Landry of Woodstock, David Bailey of Apache Junction, Ariz., Suzanne Dimlow of Meriden, Elizabeth Hungerford of Pomfret, Gerald Bailey of Bucksport, Maine, Norma-Jean Posocco of Willington, Donald Bailey of Putnam and Richard Bailey of Victor, N.Y.; three stepchildren, Carolyn Mansolf of Plantsville, Wilfred "Ken" McKenny Jr. of Southington and Joan Morrison of Trafford, Pa.; as well as 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Patricia Stanish.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Main St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow at the South End Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Friends of Scouting Yankee Council of BSA, P.O. Box 32, Milford, CT 06460-0032. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville, is handling arrangements.

Victor S. Kohlberg

WOLCOTT -- Victor S. Kohlberg, 88, of 52 Clinton Hill Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy J. (Bratz) Kohlberg.

Mr. Kohlberg was born on Aug. 4, 1914, in Bridgeport, son of the late Axel and Alma (Nielsson) Kohlberg. A Wolcott resident for the last 30 years, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW in Wolcott. For many years, even into his retirement, he was a distributor for the Harper Brush Co. Along with his wife, he operated DoVic Sales in Wolcott for over 20 years. An avid golfer and billiards player, he was known competitively as "The Swede."

He is survived by a daughter, Dorrie Kohlberg of Wolcott; two sons, Carl Kohlberg of Waterbury and Charles Kohlberg of Southington; a sister, Clara Allen of Wolcott; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Wolcott Congregational Church, 185 Center St., Wolcott. Calling hours from 6 p.m. to the time of the service. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Health Care Hospice, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury, CT 06708.

Marjorie Landry

NORTH HAVEN -- Marjorie Chorzempa Landry, 69, of 85 Bradley St., North Haven, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at her home. She was the wife of Raymond J. Landry.

Born in Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 2, 1933, daughter of the late Charles P. and Louise Bertha Knepple Chorzempa. She worked for the New Haven Register as a motor route carrier, district manager and cashier before retiring after 34 years in 1990. She worked several years part-time for the North Haven Post Office. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, the Eastern Star, the Columbiettes of North Haven Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church.

She was the mother of Raymond M. Landry of Austin, Texas , Paul S. Landry of Southington, Maureen Gootkin of Wallingford and Judith Overholt of Drums, Pa.; grandmother of Mark, Craig, Todd, Melissa, Nicole and Paul Landry Jr., Christopher Velush, Brian Ahern, Amanda Overholt and the late Daniel Ahern.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church, North Haven, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

Tracey A. Savago

MERIDEN -- Tracey Ann Savago, 37, of 151 Cynrose Place, died peacefully Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Meriden on Nov. 27, 1964, the daughter of Linda (Palmieri) Savago and the late David Savago Sr. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Tracey graduated from Platt High School in 1984. Tracey had been a member of the Tri-Town Special Olympics and a SARC Recreation of Southington. Over the years, Tracey has competed in the Regional and State Games in various events. In 1991, she was a silver medallist in the Women's Power Lifting Event at the International Special Olympics in Minneapolis/St. Paul. She was employed by C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. at BJ's in North Haven for the past four years.

In addition to her mother, Tracey is survived by her maternal grandmother, Ellen (Reeve) Palmieri of Southington; a loving brother, David Savago Jr. and his wife, Mary of Meriden; her niece, Chelsea and nephew, David, that she cherished and adored; aunts and uncles, Sharon and Jack Mirisola and Anthony and Lynn Palmieri of Southington, Dominic and Carol Savago, Rose and Edward Bruenn and Barbara Cardillo of Meriden. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Anthony Palmieri Sr.; and her paternal grandparents, Dominic and Adeline Savago.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, to Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Special Olympics -- Tri Town, P.O. Box 588, Meriden, CT 06450, or Evening Activities for Special Education, c/o Platt High School, 220 Coe Ave., Meriden CT 06450.
