Joseph R. Lagace

WALLINGFORD -- Joseph Roland Lagace, 66, of North Branford Road, Wallingford, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of Judith Wieczorek Lagace.

Born in Meriden, April 19, 1936, a son of Joseph Lagace of South Meriden and the late Madeline Rouleau Lagace, He was a Wallingford resident since 1961. He had been employed by the Hobson and Motzer Co., of Durham for 30 years until his retirement in January. He had served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church.

Besides his wife and father, Mr. Lagace is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Albert LeHerissier of Wallingford; his son, James Joseph Lagace of Wallingford; his three grandchildren, Kameron LeHerissier, Alexandra LeHerissier and Bailey Anne LeHerissier; his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Maurice and Simone Lagace of Nelson, N.H., and Robert and Trudy Lagace of Durham; his mother-in-law, Celia Wieczorek of Wallingford; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert J. and Linda Wieczorek of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margery Curry.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Henry J. Tercyak

NORTH HAVEN -- Henry J. Tercyak, 76, of 25 Dover Road, North Haven, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at the VAMC, West Haven. He was the husband of Lorraine Melillo Tercyak.

Born in New Haven on April 30, 1926, son of the late Peter and Helen Kaminski Tercyak. A North Haven Sports Enthusiast, he was a former coach for youth sports in town and was always there to support his children and their teams at every event. He was a member of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Assoc., the North Haven Tomahawk Club and the Professional Industrial Management Club of New Haven. He had worked for Cable Waves until retirement and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.

He was the father of Henry Tercyak, Steven Tercyak and wife, Suzanne, Phillip Tercyak, Richard Tercyak and wife Francine, Carol Bailey and Sandra DiTullio and husband, Rocco; sister of Sophie Tamutz and husband, Fred; also survived by nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Gilmart.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the VAMC Dialysis Unit, 950 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT 06516.

Katherine Zagorski

MERIDEN -- Katherine "Kay" (Budnick) Zagorski, 81, 116 Veteran St., wife of the late Stanley J. Zagorski, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at MidState Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on Oct. 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Filip) Budnick. Mrs. Zagorski resided in Meriden her entire life, attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Richard Burrows of Naugatuck, Lori and Brian Signor of Meriden; four sons and two daughters-in-law, John Zagorski, Richard Zagorski, Karl and Janice Zagorski and Robert and Polly Zagorski, all of Meriden; six grandchildren, Emily, Erik, Ashley, Monica Kay, Jacob and Derek; two sisters, Anne Catrone and Eleanor "Lil" Unghire, both of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Stella Jacek

WALLINGFORD -- Stella Ferry Jacek, 96, of Silver Pond Apartments, Center St., Wallingford, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Miller Memorial Community, Meriden, where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was the wife of the late Walter M. Jacek.

Mrs. Jacek was born in Wallingford, Nov. 16, 1905, a daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Cetnarowski Ferry, was Salutatorian of her graduating class at Lyman Hall High School, and was a lifelong resident of Wallingford. She was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church, and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Jacek Bedard of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; her brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Edith Ferry of Wallingford; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Claire Jacek Dreissen, her son, Robert J. Jacek; three sisters, Wanda Geremia, Adela Rogers and Nellie Rusiak; and three brothers, Walter Fare, Frank Ferry and Ted Ferry.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Monday at 11 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Wallingford. Interment will be private in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 North Orchard St., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 No. Main St. Ext, Wallingford.

Evelyn c. Valerie

MERIDEN -- Evelyn C. Valerie, 76, of 101 Liberty St., wife of Joseph Valerie, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on Nov. 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Peter and Elsie (Doll) Hall, she resided in Meriden her entire life and attended Meriden schools. Mrs. Valerie was employed by Hanover Gift House, retiring to enjoy her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynda Valerie of South Glastonbury and Robin Maletta and husband, James of Durham; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Terry Valerie of Meriden; five grandchildren, Jolyn, Mike and Jeffrey Valerie, Nicole and Michelle Maletta; a sister, Lorraine Kabai of South Meriden; two brothers, Peter Hall Jr. of Meriden and Robert Hall of Pennsylvania ; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Donald Hall; and one sister, Carol Pagano.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Carlton H. Winslow

SOUTHINGTON -- Carlton H. Winslow, 88, formerly of Meriden, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the Southington Care Center. He was the husband of Winifred Gustafson Winslow.

Born in Meriden on March 20, 1914, he was the son of the late Carlton H. and Sara Stevens Winslow. He was the chairman of the Cuno Co., a member of the Board of Directors of Home Bank, and Meriden Savings Bank. Also, he was a past President of the Meriden-Wallingford Manufacturers Association, member and past President of the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital Board of Directors, and past President and Director of the Meriden Boys Club. He was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, the Meriden Rotary Club, the Essex Yacht Club, the Farms Country Club, the Roaring Brook Club, past President of the Home Club, and he was an avid sailor.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind his daughters, Nancy Harwood of East Lyme and Judy Robison of Stony Creek; sons, Jonathan K. Winslow of Meriden, Kenelm E. Winslow of Appleton Maine, and Carlton Winslow of East Hampton. He also leaves nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, David Winslow; and a sister, Lucy Winslow.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 20 Catlin St., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements in care of Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Esther A. Collett

MERIDEN -- Esther A. Collett, of 52 Live Oak Lane, died Friday, Nov. 8, at her home after a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Meriden, she was a daughter of the late Gough W. and Amelia Collett. Miss Collett had been employed for 40 years by New Departure retiring as a secretary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Payne of Kensington, Md.; a nephew; and several cousins.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Marjorie E. Hugo

MERIDEN -- Marjorie E. Hugo, wife of the late Harold Hugo, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy E. Hugo of New Canaan; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Bonnie Hugo of Meriden; and two nephews, Kenneth Hugo of Sandy Hook and Glenn Hugo of Meriden. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Ekberg.

Private funeral services will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Russell A. Woolley

MERIDEN -- Russell Arnold Woolley, 85, of Meriden, husband of Gertrude (Cannon) Woolley, died peacefully on Nov. 10, 2002 after a brief illness.

Born in Wallingford in 1917, son of the late Alfred and Harriet (Arnold) Woolley, he was a lifelong employee of the former International Silver Company of Meriden. Following his retirement he worked for the Hayden Machinery Company of Waterbury. Russ was an avid golfer, gardener, and photographer. He was a member of the Silver City Camera Club, the Home Club, and served on the Board of Directors' of the Easter Seals of Central Connecticut. He also served for several years on the Board of Governors of the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. Mr. Woolley was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.

Besides his wife, Gertrude, he is survived by two daughters and their families, Carol Woolley Quinn and her husband, James E. "Ned" Quinn and their children, Atty. Michael D. Quinn, Jean M. Quinn and Sean P. Quinn, all of Meriden, Dody Woolley Knight and her husband, D. Mitch Knight of Wethersfield and their daughter, Jennifer R. Knight of Hoboken, N.J.; a special cousin, Josie Masters and her husband, Jeff Masters of Birmingham, England; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Rogers Woolley; and by a sister, Doris Woolley Perkins of Cheverly, Md.

The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Way, 35 Pleasant St., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Cleophie S. Chabot

MERIDEN -- Cleophie "Cleo" S. Chabot, 90, of 292 Thorpe Ave., wife of the late Louis Chabot, died on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at CT Baptist Home after a brief illness.

Born on May 12, 1912 in Weedon, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Amanda (Palardy) Gagne, she resided in Meriden for the past 79 years. Mrs. Chabot was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Franco American Club and many other organizations. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Chabot and wife, Lucille of Meriden and Paul Richard Chabot of Meadows of Dan, Va.; a sister, Fern Mancino of Southington; five grandchildren, Sister Jilda Marie Chabot, F.S.E., of Meriden, Vincent Chabot of Harriman, Tenn., Kevin Chabot of Lexington, Ky., William Chabot of New Hampshire and Tiffany Chabot of Skowhegan, Maine; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, Armand and Alcide Gagne; and two sisters, Dorothy Zackey and Jeanne Loucks.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Laurent Church. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
