Edward S. Kaczor

MERIDEN -- Edward S. Kaczor, 76, beloved husband of Barbara Bartek Kaczor, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002.

Edward was born in Meriden on Nov. 25, 1925, the son of the late Paul and Mary (Regula) Kaczor, and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He attended St. Stanislaus School and Wilcox Trade School before entering the U.S. Navy in Feb. of 1943 at the age of 17. He served in the Pacific as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class on a PBM (flying boat.) After returning to Meriden in 1946, he found employment with the International Silver Co., where he worked for 38 years. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, and a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 68, and the Polish Knights.

Besides his wife, Barbara, Edward is survived by two sons, Robert Kaczor and his wife, Joanne and Thomas Kaczor; a daughter, Karen Keene and her husband, Fred, all of Meriden; four grandchildren, Lisa Dummitt, Angela Baldassari, Sarah Kaczor and Michael Kaczor; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jayden and Jazmine Dummitt, all of Meriden; a brother, Stanley Kaczor of West Hartford; a sister, Helen Darley of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Kaczor; a sister, Josephine Budnick and two brothers, John Kaczor and Alfred Budnick.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Dorothy G. McIe

MERIDEN -- Dorothy G. McIe, 87, of Boylston Street No., Meriden, wife of the late Earl McIe, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Kane, Pa., May 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Galonski. Mrs. McIe was the former owner and operator of Dorothy's Religious and Gift Shop in Wallingford. She was a longtime resident of Meriden, a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, and a member of the Ladies Falcons Nest 444. She was a former President of the Democratic Women's Club of Meriden.

Mrs. McIe is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Donald Jakiela of Meriden; a daughter, Carol Lohmann of Meriden; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Felix and Veronica Galonski and John and Marcia Galonski, all of Meriden; and a sister, Helen Landa of Meriden; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Joseph M. Muszynski

MIDDLEFIELD -- Joseph M. Muszynski, 70, of Baileyville Road, Middlefield and husband of the late Veronica Orzech Muszynski, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Born March 31, 1932 in Wallingford, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Piehowicz Muszynski. A 40 year Middlefield resident, he owned and operated the Joseph Muszynski & Sons Siding and Carpentry firm for over 35 years until his retirement in 1997. He was a parishioner of St. Colman's Church in Middlefield.

Mr. Muszynski leaves two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Muszynski of Durham and John and Judy Muszynski of Middlefield; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Michael Zagura of New Britain; two grandchildren, Melanie Muszynski of Cromwell and Meghann Muszynski of Higganum; a brother and sisters-in-law, Michael and Mary Muszynski of San Antonio, Texas ; a sister, Jennie Polansky of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Cecilia DeMatteo, Florence M. McGowan and Julia C. Stack.

His funeral will be conducted Monday, Nov. 25, at 10:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Colman's Church, 145 Hubbard St., Middlefield. Burial will be in the Middlefield Cemetery in Middlefield. His family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. The family request donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Shirley M. Pino

MERIDEN -- Shirley Marion Pino, 82, of 60 Hanover St., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

Born in Hartford on Jan. 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude O'Neil Chamberlain. Until her retirement, she was employed as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney in North Haven. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by two sons, Glen A. Walters of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Eloy E. Pino II of Bradenton, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Brandon and Jacob Walters of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ethan Pino of Bradenton, Fla.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Chester L. Polack

MERIDEN -- Chester Lawrence Polack, 75, husband of Marilyn Joy Maslar Polack of Crescent St., Meriden died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at the Yale New Haven Hospital.

He was born in Poland, Sept. 8, 1927, a son of the late Walter and Mary Bogdan Polack. For most of his life he was a resident of Meriden, educated in local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Polack was an Army veteran, an employee of the Meriden Fruit and Produce for many years. He was a former member of the Polish Knights, the Polish Legion of American Veterans and the Polish Falcons Nest 68.

Besides his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by three sons, Mark Polack, Peter Polack and Christopher Polack, all of Meriden; by a daughter, Patricia Polack of Colchester; and a sister, Stephanie Muzyczka of Meriden.

Relatives and friends are invited to his committal service Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.

Mildred W. Balaschak

MERIDEN -- Mildred W. Balaschak, 84, formerly of 136 Alanby Drive and the Curtis Home, wife of the late John Balaschak died on Friday, Nov. 22, at Bristol Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Meriden on Aug. 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Zabek) Wacek. She had resided in Meriden all her life and had attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School. Mrs. Balaschak worked with her husband at his store Weisner Market on Liberty St. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Muriel and Ronald Busa of Meriden; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy Balaschak of Ashburnham, Mass. five grandchildren, Rhonda Ann Busa of Meriden, Ms. Jacqueline Balaschak of Edgartown, Mass., Mrs. Wendy Fortier and her husband, Peter of Baldwinville, Mass., Jeffrey Balaschak of Attleboro, Mass., Mrs. Jenny Jones and her husband, Bradley of Townsend, Mass.; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Adeline Balaschak of Meriden, Irene Toffolon of Southington; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Petrosky and Mary Hanisko; and by an infant brother, Teddy Wacek.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Elizabeth Center at the Curtis Home, 380 Crown St., Meriden, CT 06450, or to St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

Jean E. Vance

SOUTHINGTON -- Jean E. Kahres Vance, 73, of Carriage Drive, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. She was the beloved wife of Harry Vance for 58 years.

Born Feb. 26, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late George and Evelyn Swan Kahres, she was a lifelong New York resident before moving to Southington two years ago. Mrs. Vance worked as a switchboard operator for the Levittown School District for over 30 years before retiring in 1995. She enjoyed being at home with her husband and spending time with her family.

Besides her husband Harry, she leaves two daughters and their husbands, Carole and Bob Sos of California and Joan and Charlie Cappannari of Southington; five grandsons, Gary and Brian Sos, Michael, Ryan and Gregory Cappannari; and one great-grandson, Cody Sos; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Evelyn H. Williams

MADISON -- Evelyn H. Williams, 74, of 66 Oak Ave., Madison, formerly of Wallingford, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1928, a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary Mellor Williams. Prior to her retirement in 1994, Mrs. Williams was an administrative assistant in the Department of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. She was a member of the Madison Senior Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Schontag of Clinton and Debra Williams of Wallingford; a son, Gary B. Williams and his wife, Joan of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Carie Scagliarini, Jake Schontag, Corinne Williams and Matthew Williams. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas H. Williams, II.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. It is suggested that gifts in her memory be sent to the Forgotten Felines, P.O. Box 734, Clinton, CT 06413.

Ruth Fowler

WALLINGFORD -- Ruth Isaac Fowler, 89, of Silver Pond Apartments, Center St., died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, in Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the wife of the late William C. Fowler.

Born in New Haven, April 11, 1913, a daughter of the late Richard and S. Johanna Hayes Isaac, she had been a Wallingford resident for the past 30 years. Mrs. Fowler had been employed in the office of Lomas and Nettleton Company in New Haven for many years until her retirement, and was a lifetime member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Ethel Chapter #28.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith F. and Michael A. Mastroianni of Wallingford; her four grandchildren, William D. Mastroianni and his wife, Karen of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Donna A. Mastroianni of New York City, James M. Mastroianni and his wife, Anna and Richard C. Mastroianni and his wife, Tammi, all of Wallingford; her six great-grandchildren, Kristi Mastroianni, Jennifer Mastroianni, and Rebecca Mastroianni, all of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Andrew Mastroianni, Allison Mastroianni, and Cassandra Mastroianni, all of Wallingford; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park were private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
