Anne M. Gibbons

CHESHIRE -- Anne M. Gibbons, 83, of Cheshire, formerly of Canton, Mass., died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

She was born n Boston, Mass., on March 23, 1919, the oldest child of Andrew and Mary (Mahoney) Farrell. Anne grew up in Medford and Dorchester, Mass., and graduated from St. Gregory's High School in Dorchester in 1937. In 1939, she began working for the New England Telephone Company, where she retired, as a Supervisor, in 1959 to raise her family. She married Robert L. Gibbons in 1958 and moved to Canton, Mass., that year where she resided for the next 40 years and was active in the community. She was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Canton and was a member of both the Canton Catholic Women's Club and Canton Garden Club for several years. In 1998 she moved to Cheshire.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Gibbons, to whom she was married for 42 years; and two brothers, Robert Farrell and Vincent Farrell. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew R. Gibbons and Susan LaCivita of East Walpole, Mass.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Wnuck of Cheshire and Lee Anne and William McClymont of New York, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Annie and Tommy Wnuck of Cheshire and Emma McClymont of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Mary E. Farrell of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Calling hours will be held in Cheshire and in Canton, Mass. In Connecticut, her family will receive relatives and friends at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St., Cheshire on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. In Massachusetts, calling hours will be held at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton, Mass., on Monday, Dec. 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral procession will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Dockray and Thomas followed by the funeral liturgy at St. John's Church, Canton, Mass., at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Beckett Church, 511 Sharon Drive, Cheshire, CT 06410 or the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Michael A. Keezer

GLASTONBURY -- Michael Allen Keezer, 38, husband of Mary Jean (Walsh) Keezer of Glastonbury, died suddenly on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 in Hartford Hospital.

Born in Meriden, son of Kenneth and Shirley (Lewis) Keezer, he lived in Meriden and Hartford until six years ago moving to Glastonbury. He was a graduate of Quinnipiac College and worked for Travelers Insurance Co., in Hartford as a business analyst. He was a communicant of St. Paul's Church and a member of the Bowling Team at Travelers.

Besides his beloved wife, Mary Jean, he leaves his parents, Kenneth and Shirley (Lewis) Keezer of Meriden; his daughter, Hayley E. Keezer of Glastonbury; his paternal grandfather, H. Kenneth Keezer of Vermont; a brother, Mark Keezer of Meriden; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Kathy Walsh of New York City; his sister-in-law and her husband, Cathy and Tom Powell of Southbury; his brother-in-law and his wife, Thomas and Janice Walsh of Texas ; his brother-in-law, Patrick Walsh of North Carolina; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his two aunts, Irene and Linda; his grandparents, Alice and Frank Lewis and Elaine Keezer and a brother-in-law, Robert Walsh.

A procession will form at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury at 9:15 a.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Glastonbury. Friends may all at the funeral home, Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hayley E. Keezer Memorial, c/o Glastonbury Bank and Trust Co., 2461 Main ST., Glastonbury, CT 06033.

Harvey A. King

EDGEWATER, Fla. -- Word has come from Edgewater, Fla., that Harvey A. King, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at the age of 94.

He was born on July 17, 1908 in Green Bay, Wis., and at a very young age moved to Athol, Mass. He then moved to Meriden, at the age of 18 and remained here for 68 years. He was a set-up for New Department division of General Motors, in Meriden and retired with 27 years of service in 1969. In 1994, he moved to South Daytona, Fla., and in 2000 he relocated to Edgewater, Fla.

His survivors are his daughter, Paula (King) Downs and son-in-law, Raymond Downs, both of Edgewater, Fla.; a brother, John King of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Blanch Nesci of Meriden, Cecilia Schultz of Portland and Madaline Beach of Great Falls, Mont.; a step-grandson, David Downs and a step-granddaughter, Hayley Downs both of South Daytona, Fla.; Harvey's beloved dog, "PeKing;" plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife of 50 years, Sophie R. King; one brother, Ernest King of Athol, Mass.; three sisters, Lillian Bjorkland, Edna Wanat and Ann Wright, all of Meriden.

While he lived in Meriden, he was a member of St. Rose's Catholic Church and while living in Florida, he was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden will be in charge of his funeral in the Spring of 2003.

Theodora K. Krupa

MERIDEN -- Theodora K. Zajac Krupa, 80, wife of the late Theodore S. Krupa died at her home Friday, Dec. 20, 2002.

Born April 30, 1922 in Meriden. She was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Sophie Lorek Krupa. A lifelong resident of Meriden, "Tida" as she was affectionately known worked for the Insilco Corporation and for Pyramid Plastics and Jonal Laboratories. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.

She leaves a son, Theodore J. Krupa of Meriden; a daughter, Rita C. Krupa of Springfield, Mass.; two brothers, Fred A. Zajac and John Zajac, both of Meriden; two sisters, Lucy Treiber and Mary Trala, both of Meriden; several nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Donald R. LaRose

WALLINGFORD -- Donald Robert LaRose, 52 of 590B Center St., Wallingford entered into rest eternal, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002.

Born in Niagara Falls, Canada, April 17, 1950, he was the son of Lucien (Red) and Juliette Cloutier LaRose; brother of Mrs. David (Christine) Winter and Mrs. Richard (Elaine) Aszklar, all of Wallingford and Paul LaRose of Northford; uncle of Jennifer Marshall, Katherine Kubeck, James Kubeck and Zach Aszklar, all of Wallingford. Donald was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a self-employed carpenter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Pinta Council No. 5, 279 Quinnipiac St., Wallingford, CT 06492. Friends are invited for a gathering at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the K of C Hall. Burial will be private. Arrangements in care of the Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Hamden.

Louise M. Loubier

WALLINGFORD -- Louise M. Pesticci Loubier, 63, of Lori Lane, Wallingford, beloved wife of Clarence Loubier, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in New Haven, Jan. 10, 1939, she had been a New Haven resident before moving to Wallingford 34 years ago. She was an Insurance Coordinator for the Family Practice Associates on Broad Street in Meriden for the past 16 years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in the Yalesville section of Wallingford.

Besides her husband, Clarence, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michele M. and Robert J. McManus of North Branford; her son and daughter-in-law, Andre P. and Susanne T. Loubier of Wallingford; her granddaughter, Ashley Marie McManus; her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Pat Oronzo and Antoinette and Louis Guidone and her brother, Patsy Pesticci, all of Hamden; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She predeceased by her parents, Louis and Pauline Villano Pesticci; and her sister, Marie Landino.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday when the funeral cortege will proceed from the Wallingford Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. In of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Cancer Care Partnership, MidState Medical Center, 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

Joseph Schaffeld

NORTH HAVEN -- Joseph Schaffeld, 90, of 2 Koczak Court., North Haven, husband for 62 years of Elizabeth Romanovsky Schaffeld passed away in New Haven, Friday, Dec. 20, 2002.

He was born in New Haven, Oct. 4, 1912 son of the late Carl and Frances Schauble Schaffeld and had been a resident of North Haven since 1970. He had worked for many years at Marlin Firearms and retired as a foreman.

He was the father of Carol Berube of Wallingford; grandfather of Thomas Berube of Denver, Colo.; also survived by two nieces, Patty and her husband, Richard Carney of Hamden, Elaine and her husband, Jack Gaffney of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; and a nephew, Harry and his wife, Marge Thibeault of Chicopee, Mass. He was predeceased by a sister, Grace Anderson; and a nephew, Bill Thibeault.

Funeral from Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Monday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 11 a.m. Friends may call Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. John Svab

WALLINGFORD -- John Svab, 86,formerly of Parker Farms Road, Wallingford, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the Brook Hollow Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Julie Madar Svab.

Born in Hungary, Feb. 24, 1916, a son of the late John and Margaret Toth Svab, he had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. He was employed by the International Silver Company for 30 years until his retirement and had been the proprietor of Svab's Market for many years. He was a life member of the Hungarian Community Club of Wallingford and a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.

He is survived by his daughter, JulieAnn Krol and her husband, Walter, his grandchildren, Dr. Walter J. Krol and Valerie Stowik and her husband, Glenn, all of Wallingford and Jan Anderson of Farmington; his five great grandchildren, Turner, Paxton and Skylar Stowik of Wallingford and Courtney and Annika Anderson of Farmington; his sister, MaryAnn Meade and her husband, Richard of Fairfield and his brother, Steven Schwab and his wife, Winifred of Point Pleasant, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Ernest and James Svab.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, Monday, at 9 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville.

Francis Zimmer

MERIDEN -- Francis "Frank" Zimmer, 64, of Fremont St., died unexpectantly on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Karen (Stange) Zimmer.

He was born Aug. 2, 1938 in Meriden, the son of the late Richard and Amelia (Lewis) Zimmer.

Frank was a 1958 graduate of Meriden High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict as a signalman. He was a member of the American Legion Post 45, the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 189, a long-standing member of Post 72 Color Guard of Southington and the PBA of Meriden. He was a 1998 retiree with over 25 years of service as a welder for Stanley Work of New Britain and at the time of his passing he worked for Storts Welding of Meriden. Frank was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.

Besides his wife, Karen, he is survived by a son, Michael Zimmer of Southington; a daughter, Linda and husband, Brian Nagel of Wallingford; two brothers, his twin, Richard Zimmer Jr. of North Haven and Les Zimmer of Southington; a sister, Cindi Gagliardi of Southington; two granddaughters, Nikki and Danielle DeNicola of Wallingford; two best friends, Chip Geriak and Butch Bukowski; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Jean DeMaria Zimmer; and a brother, Robert Zimmer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will follow at the State Veteran Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn 38105.
