Shirley Redmann
MERIDEN -- Shirley (Eustache) Redmann, 80, of 106 Sunset Ave., wife of the late Lewis H. Redmann, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, are incomplete and will be announced in her complete obituary in Thursday's edition of the Record-Journal.
Raymond Stebbins Sr.
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- Raymond Stebbins Sr., 74, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his home.
He was born on July 3, 1928 in Hartford, Conn., a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Flynn Stebbins. He was a member of the Calabash Elks Lodge No. 2679, as well as the Marine Corps League, James E. Hobart Detachment, and 1st Marine Brigade of Calabash, N.C. He was also a member and usher of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Christine D'Antonio Stebbins of Little River, S.C.; two sons, Raymond Stebbins Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., and Michael Scott Stebbins of Guilford; two daughters, Deborah Rodriguez of Meriden and Carol Civitillo of Wallingford; two sisters, Patricia Hottin and Rosemary Sabo of Prospect; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Stebbins.
Visitation will be from Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Little River, S.C. A rosary will follow at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Fr. George Moynihan will officiate. Interment will be private with the family. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is in charge of arrangements.
Ralph Torello
WALLINGFORD -- Ralph Torello, 91, of South Orchard St., Wallingford, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
Born in Italy, April 12, 1911, a son of the late Achille and Concetta Vivolo Torello, he had been a Wallingford resident for the past 82 years. He had been a supervisor for the International Silver Company for many years until his retirement in 1972, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. He had been a member of the Democratic Town Committee and had served as Chairman of the Wallingford Board of Tax Review for 15 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Wallingford Lodge No 748 and was a Past Pilgrim of its Order of Pilgrimage.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Torello, with whom he resided in Wallingford; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Margaret Pasquariello, Jennie Torello and Nicolina Torello; and his brother, Michael Torello.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Thursday from 8:45 until 9:45 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery

Walter J. Haber
MERIDEN -- Walter J. Haber, 86, of South Broad Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at MidState Medical Center, Meriden. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence FitzGerald Haber.
Mr. Haber was born in Chicopee, Mass., Oct. 13, 1916, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Haber. He was raised in Berlin and has been a Meriden resident since 1950. He had been the Service Manager at M and E Ford in Meriden for many years until his retirement, and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Parish of Meriden.
He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Karen Haber, and Peter and Lynette Haber, all of Meriden; his daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Joseph Lee of Carlsbad, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Scollo, Beth Bucciferro, Kimberly Lee, Jeffrey Lee, and Peter Haber; three great-grandchildren, Thomas and Ryan Bucciferro, and Sara Scollo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Jane Haber, and Robert and Pat Haber, all of Berlin; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Robert Veilette of Meriden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Saturday from 9 to 10:15 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to All Saints Episcopal Church, 201 West Main Street, Meriden, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to The American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
William R. Klaus
WALLINGFORD -- William R. Klaus, 74, of New Place St., died Dec. 18, 2002. He was a self-employed realtor. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
He leaves two sisters, Marjorie J. Smith of Hamden and Barbara K. York of Eureka Springs, Ark. He was predeceased by one brother, George E. Klaus.
Arrangement are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hamden, CT.
John D. Kurz
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- John D. Kurz, 79, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Hamden, passed away, Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Traditions at Stygler Center.
He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. John retired from the U.S. Army after serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Structural Engineer from H. Wales Lines Co. in Connecticut, but continued working at E.P. Ferris and M. Engineering in central Ohio. He was the first president of Parkshire Commons Condominium Trustees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Natalie; daughter, Lenell (Richard) Sniechowski; granddaughters, Nadine and Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Kurz.
A Mass of Christina burial will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd. Fr. Paul Noble is the celebrant. His family will receive friends, Friday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Paralyzed Veteran's Assoc. Pietro Lovisa
WALLINGFORD -- Pietro "Peter" Lovisa, 75, of Templeton Road, Wallingford, formerly of North Haven, and Bronx, N.Y., died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Masonic Healthcare Center, Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Claire Lorusso Lovisa.
Born in Cavasso Nuovo, Venezia, Italy, a son of the late Pietro and Domenica Franceschina Lovisa, he had resided in the Bronx, N.Y. for many years until moving to Connecticut in 1990. He had been a Terrazzo Installer for the Magnan Tile Company of New York until his retirement, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
Besides his wife, Claire, he is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Ronald Conway, and Laurie and Thomas Reinmann, all of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Eric Conway, Lauren Reinmann, Jenna Conway, and Kathryn Reinmann, all of Wallingford; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Harry Russo of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lydia Lovisa of New Milford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Francesco Lovisa.

Margaret Mezzanotte
NORTH HAVEN -- Margaret Mezzanotte, 82, wife of Frank Mezzanotte of Pool Road, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven. She was born on Aug. 4, 1920 in New Haven, a daughter of the late Vincent and Anna Romano Franco. Mrs. Mezzanotte was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in North Haven.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she is survived by a son, Atty. John F. Mezzanotte, Sr. of Wallingford; a daughter, Marianne James and her husband, David of Andover, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, John Franco; a sister, Lucy Franco and granddaughter, Heather Mezzanotte.
The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at 9:15 a.m. to St. Barnabus Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery
in West Haven.
Mary E. Nessing
MERIDEN -- Mary E. Nessing, of 1274 East Main St., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at the Coccomo Memorial Health Center.
Born Nov. 15, 1924 in Meriden she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Plata Nessing. Mary attended local schools, was a lifelong resident of Meriden and worked at Insilco for 38 years. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and for many years one of the ardent voices in its former choir. Mary was a member of the PLAV Auxiliary Post 189, the Meriden Council of Catholic Women, the AARP, the Polish Roman Catholic Union, the Lady Falcons Nest 444 and the Falcons Nest 68. Mary was also an avid bowler.
She leaves her brothers, John and Casimer Nessing, both of Meriden; two sisters, Genevieve Lewandowski and Dolores Nessing, both of Meriden; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Julius Nessing, Joseph Nessing, Stanley Nessing and Benjamin Nessing; and her sisters, Katherine Zaborowski, Ann Nessing and Rose Nessing.
Her funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 27, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Stempien Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Shirley Redmann
MERIDEN -- Shirley Eustache Redmann, wife of the late Lewis H. Redmann, died Monday at MidState Medical Hospital after a lengthy illness. She had just celebrated her 80th birthday, Dec. 19th.
Born and raised in New Orleans where she was an overseas operator for the phone company. While raising her family in Meriden, Shirley was active in the "Y" mother's circle through the YMCA. She worked until her retirement in 1974 from Barkers Supermarket in Meriden where she held many positions. After her husbands death, Shirley joined PWP where she held many positions including Vice President of the New England Chapters. Through PWP, she made hundreds of wonderful friends during her travels for the organization.
Shirley leaves behind her three children. Her oldest son, Ward and his wife, Katherine Redmann of Durham and Westbrook, Conn.; her son, Bruce, with whom she lived; and her daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Brian Collins of Meriden; four granddaughters, Shelly and her husband, Brendan O'Connor of Meriden, Crystal and her husband, Rick Reale of Meriden, Jennifer and her husband, Brannon Hutcherson of Meriden and Caroline Redmann of Old Saybrook. She also leaves behind two great-grandsons, Clayton and Adam Hutcherson. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
The family would liked to express their sincere thanks to everyone at MidState Hospital and also Southington Care Center who took such wonderful care of their mom.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions in her name should be made to St. John's Church Building Fund on Paddock Avenue, Meriden, Conn.
