Leo J. Carrier

WATERBURY -- Leo J. Carrier, 85, of 34 Dalton Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Alzheimer's Resource Center. He was the husband of the late Veronica (Giroux) Carrier.

Born in Waterbury on May 26, 1917. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Gull Manufacturing Co., in Plainville, he had also worked at the former Chase Brass and Copper Co., in Waterbury for 22 years. Mr. Carrier was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Mary Louise Carrier, David and Lois Carrier, all of Southington and Mark and Susan Carrier of Pennsylvania ; a sister, Irene Casey of Great Barrington, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church at 11 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer's Research Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106.

Stanislaw Habzba

SOUTHINGTON -- Stanislaw Habzda, 80, of 290 Farmingberry Drive, Marion section, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Plainville Health Care. He was the husband of Nina (Abramowa) Habzda.

Born in Poland on July 6, 1922, the son of the late Peter and Anna Habzda. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed by GE in Plainville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter A. Habzda and Marzena Habzda of Marion; two grandchildren, Alexander and Angelica; and a brother, Paul Habzda of Plantsville.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, to Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Grace E. Magnanini

CHESHIRE -- Grace E. Magnanini, 60, of 57 Edgecomb Road, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Masonic Health Care Center. She was the wife of Michael Magnanini.

Born in Calicoon, N.Y. on March 5, 1942, the daughter of the late James and Anna (Amermann) Bouldin. For over the last 27 years Mrs. Magnanini has been in the restaurant business in Southington. She owned operated Grace's Restaurant for the past 8 years, and prior to that the Iron Kettle and Frank's Restaurant. She sponsored woman's softball teams and for 15 years held a Christmas party for the youth in Hartford.

Besides her husband of 40 years, she is survived by a son, Michael P. Magnanini and his wife, Jennifer of Southington; a daughter, Michele and her husband, Frank Rosa of Cheshire; two brothers, James Bouldin of Sylvania, Ohio and Robert Bouldin of Belmont, N.Y.; a sister, Alice Finkle of Cutchogue, N.Y.; a nephew, whom she raised, Timothy Fulton of Guilford; an aunt, Doris Babish of Colorado Springs, Colo; six grandchildren, Anthony Rosa, Briana, Samantha, Sara, Michael and Nicole Magnanini; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Minnie Joanne Fulton and Shirley Pollock.

Funeral Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling Hours are Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to MidState Cancer Care Partnership, 435 Lewis Ave Meriden, CT 06451 or Masonic Hospice, 33 North Plains Industrial Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Frank T. Mlynick

BERLIN -- Frank T. Mlynick Sr., 80, of 71 Park Drive, Kensington, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, after being ill. Services are private for the family. Thanks for your prayers.

Mary Rajanayagam

WALLINGFORD -- Mary Rajanayagam, 76, of 3 Bartholomew Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Arden House of Hamden. She was the wife of the late Robert Rajanayagam.

She was born in Manipay, Sri Lanka, July 10, 1926, a daughter of the late Issac and Louisa Murugesu Chelliah. She had attended the First Congregational Church of Wallingford.

Mrs. Rajanayagam is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Saroja Koneswaran and her husband, Dr. M. Koneswaran of Shelton; Vasantha Ariyasingam and her husband, Dr. K. Ariyasingam of Sri Lanka and Mohana Mather and her husband, Jay Mather of Wallingford; a son and daughter-in-law, Niranjan Rajanayagam and his wife, Rajani of the Republic of Maldives; a brother; 4 sisters; and 13 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 23 South Main St. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Emily Watterworth

SOUTHINGTON -- Emily (Spierto) Watterworth, 94, formerly of Garden Drive, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Watterworth.

Her calling hours, services and burial will be announced at a later date. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St., Southingtonm is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret W. Woodtke

MERIDEN -- Margaret W. Woodtke, 86, of 40 Royal Oak Circle, wife of Frederick J. Woodtke, died on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at home after a long illness.

Born in Meriden on May 5, 1916, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wollschlager, she had resided in Meriden all her life. Mrs. Woodtke was a graduate of Meriden High School and employed by SNET Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1969. She was parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the Pioneers Club.

She was predeceased by a sister, Betsy Wollschlager; and a brother, Joseph Wollschlager.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

Nancy A. Bialy

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Nancy Ann Tatara Bialy, 49, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Wallingford, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at the Desert Samaritan Hospital Center in Mesa, Ariz. She was the beloved wife of Richard Bialy.

Born in Meriden on Feb. 23, 1953, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Koniski Tatara. She attended Holy Trinity School, Mary Immaculate Academy in New Britain and a graduate of Quinnipiac College with a BA degree in education. She was a former member of St. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford, the American Legion Siedlicki Auxiliary 187, an active member in the Arizona Classic Thunderbird Club and in various charities.

Besides her husband, Nancy is survived by her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bialy of Tempe, Ariz.; her aunts and uncle, Wanda Koniski and Phyllis Plover of Meriden and Edward and Clara Janicki of Wallingford; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held from the Tempe Mortuary, Friday, Jan. 10, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy spirit Church in Tempe, Ariz. Interment was at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.

Dorothy A. Doring

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Dorothy A. (Rehm) Doring, 79, So. Ocean Lane, formerly of 244 Academy Road, Cheshire, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at the Broward General Hospital. She was the wife of Martin R. Doring Sr.

Mrs. Doring was born in Long Island City, N.Y., on Nov. 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Alfred and Wilhelmina (Loeffler) Rehm and came to Cheshire in 1952 and was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church. She and her husband moved to Florida in 1977, and she was a communicant of St. Sebastian Church and was a member of the St. Sebastian Catholic Women. She was also a member of the National Federation of Republican Women.

Besides her husband, she also leaves three sons, Donald M. Doring of Southbury, Douglas R. Doring of Cheshire and Martin R. Doring Jr. of Alachua, Fla.; and eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will leave on Monday, Jan. 13, at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire and proceed to St. Bridget's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Edith Massucci

SOUTHINGTON -- Edith (Barone) Massucci, 89, formerly of 8 Wheeler Village Drive, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at Summit of Plantsville. She was the wife for 50 years of the late Fiore Massucci.

Born in Waterbury on Oct. 29, 1913, the daughter of the late Nicola and Pauline Barone. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church. Mrs. Massucci was a member of the YMCA Seniors, the Calendar House, St. Rita's Circle, the AARP and the National Council of Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a daughter, E. Paula Lutkus of Marion; four grandsons, William, David, Douglas and Gregory Lutkus; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
