Mary Bosy

SOUTHINGTON -- Mary Bosy, of 256 High Tower Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Walter Bosy.

Born in New York City, the daughter of the late Peter and Tessie (Szczur) Diakowich. Prior to her retirement she was a Secretary for the Rusk Institute at New York University Medical Center. Mrs. Bosy had resided in Southington since 1984 and was a Volunteer in the Pharmacy at Bradley Memorial Hospital for over 15 years. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Alice Boudreau of Southington; two grandchildren, Dianne M. Boudreau of Plainville and Matthew L. Boudreau of West Hartford; a sister, Anne Sawitsky; two nephews, Walter Sawitsky and Thomas Sawitsky and their families; a brother-in-law, John Bossy all of New York.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to Bradley Memorial Hospital, 81 Meriden Ave. Southington, CT 06489.

Elsa K. Limmer

MERIDEN -- Elsa K. Limmer, 95, formerly of Cottage St., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, Littleton, Mass. She was the wife of the late Walter Otto Limmer.

Born in Meriden on March 9, 1907, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Augusta Toennies Weigand. She had attended Meriden schools and was a graduate of New Britain Normal School, after which she taught fourth grade for eight years in Middlefield. She was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Loughlin of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; a grandson, Christopher Loughlin of Boxborough, Mass.; three granddaughters, Sally Esponnette of Auburn, Maine, Bonnie Martin of Hudson, Mass., and Amy Loughlin of Fayetteville, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service and burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Acton, Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Limmer's memory may be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Central St., Acton, Mass., 01720.

Bernard W. Murphy

EAST BERLIN -- Bernard William Murphy, 87, of East Berlin, beloved husband of Florence (Beard) Murphy for 59 years, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at New Britain General Hospital.

Born in Meriden, the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor Murphy, he lived in Berlin for 50 years, retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years, having served in both World War II and in Korea and was employed at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford for 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 10732, and the Berlin Seniors Bowling League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Ann Murphy of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church on Cottage St. Burial with full military honors followed at Wilcox Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to The American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, 06108-3272.

Yvonne M. Roy

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Mrs. Yvonne Marie Rose (Davignon) Roy, 88, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, Mass., died on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at the Willimansett Nursing Center-East.

Before her retirement, she was employed for many years as a cafeteria worker for the City of Chicopee School Department. She was born in Holyoke, Mass., on Dec. 27, 1914, the daughter of the late Nazaire and Evelina (Chevalier) Davignon. She moved to Chicopee from Holyoke in 1956. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Nativity Sodality of the Nativity Church. She was a Communicant of the St. Anne's Church in the Fairview section of Chicopee. She was a Lay Sister of the Tiers-Order of St. Francis in Quebec, Canada.

Her husband the late Ulric E. Roy died in 1952. She leaves two sons, Ronald F. Roy and his wife, Elizabeth of Hamlin, New York and Raymond V. Roy and his wife, Linda of Southington; she also leaves her sister, Cecile Paquette of Fairview; six grandchildren, Catherine, Susan, Matthew, Carissa, Timothy and Hillary Roy; also many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Arthur J. Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Willimansett, Mass., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church in Fairview. Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, Mass. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be in Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 10, Dept. 300, Memphis, Tenn., 38148-0552 or to the charity of one's choice.

Hanford Y. Stevens

SOUTHINGTON -- Hanford Yale Stevens, 85, of Lapage Drive, Southington, "Pop" to his family passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Wilma (Grady) Stevens of 61 years.

Born in Shelton, he lived in Ansonia most of his life before moving to Southington 17 years ago to reside with his son and family. Mr. Stevens was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served four years in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as a supervisor for the Farrel Corporation and retired after 40 years of service. He was an avid reader of books, loved bird watching, playing cards, crossword puzzles, playing golf, taking a serene walk, rooting for the New York Yankees, but most of all spending time with his beloved wife and family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas H. and Lorraine Stevens of Southington; a daughter, Eileen Marciniak of Derby; two brothers, Wilfred Stevens of Florida and Richard Stevens of Ansonia; three sisters, Ethel Noel and Beatrice Ryan, both of Huntington and Phyllis Farrell of Ansonia; four grandchildren, Jamie and Katelyn Stevens, Meaghan and Timothy H. Marciniak; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful cat, Sammy.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the Newington Veterans Hospital, 287 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the American Diabetes Association, 3000 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450. Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington is in charge of arrangements.

Marlene A. Tomms

WALLINGFORD -- Marlene A. Kemp Tomms, 70, of New Place St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Born in Bristol, Vt., Sept. 25, 1932, a daughter of the late John D. and Grace Puritan Kemp, she was raised and resided in Southington for many years, had been a Meriden resident for several years and a Wallingford resident for over 20 years. She was employed by the former Times Wire and Cable Company of Wallingford for over 27 years and had been a member of the Good News Christian Center in Wallingford.

She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Diane R. Tomms of Yalesville, Deborah F. Tetreault of Wallingford, and Sandra L. and Michael G. Dobbs of Arkansas; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed A. and Terri Tomms and George F. and Kelly Tomms, all of Wallingford; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Dorothy Cyr of East Hampton and Beverly Briatico of Bristol; and her two brothers, John Doyle, Jr. of Southington and Ralph Kemp of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Natalie Coss.

Funeral services were held in the Yalesville Funeral Home, Monday at 7:15 p.m. with Rev. Joseph DeAngelo, Pastor of the Good News Christian Center, officiating. Interment will be in Center Street Cemetery, in Wallingford, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Jeanette Barcavich

MERIDEN -- Jeanette Zychowski Barcavich, formerly of 139 Crown St., widow of Stanley Barcavich, died peacefully at the Westfield Care and Rehab in Meriden on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.

She was born Aug. 29, 1903 to Antoinette Wojtunik Zychowski and Stanley Zychowski. Jeanette belonged to St. Stanislaus Church for 99 years, and also belonged to the Meriden Lady Falcons. She was employed for many years at the Weatherbee Co., now known as Fosdick Corp., where she met many of her lasting friends. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, knitting and sewing. She will be missed by her family very much.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ruth Barcavich Ouellette and son-in-law, Anthony "Andy" Ouellette of Southington; her loving grandchildren, Linda Ouellette Brostowicz and husband, Walter of Essex, Kathleen M. Ouellette of Winsted and Robert A. Ouellette and wife, Carol of Plantsville; sister, Evelyn Gdovin of Pensacola, Fla.; sister-in-law, Helen Zychowski of Southington; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Sophie Pociadlo. She was predeceased by seven brothers, Theodore, Emil, Henry, Myron, Felix, Edmund and Martin Zychowski.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Alphy DuBois

SOUTHINGTON -- Alphy DuBois, 88, formerly of 500 Pleasant St., died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at the Summit of Plantsville. He was the husband for 67 years of the late Dorilda (Laferriere) DuBois.

Born on April 2, 1914 in Ft. Kent, Maine, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Paradis) DuBois. Prior to his retirement, 23 years ago, he was employed by Ulbrich Steel Co. in Wallingford. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.

He is survived by seven children, Gordon DuBois of New Hampshire, Rena Charette of Bristol, Joseph DuBois of Holyoke, Mass., Beulah Celella and Sandra Nigro, both of Southington, Judy Giusto of Naugatuck and Karen Hubeny of Southington; three brothers, Herbie DuBois of Southington, Reginald and Philip DuBois, both of Maine; a sister, Rella Charette of Maine; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rene and Rosarie DuBois, and three sisters, Isabel Bouchard, Lea Desjardin and Amelia Lajoie.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Donations may be to Alzheimer's Research Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106.

Lawrence H. Pease

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Lawrence H. Pease, 74, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and West Tisbury, Mass., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at his home in Florida of cancer.

Mr. Pease was born in New Britain, he attended the Forman School and Morse Business College. From 1950 to 1952, Mr. Pease served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army 10th Airborne Ranger Company. After returning from the service, Mr. Pease began his career at the New Britain Machine Company where he worked for 15 years. For two years he ran his own machine tool company and completed his career in machine tool sales at the Robert E. Morris Company. During his retirement his interests which included gardening, golf, sailing and travel. While raising his family, Mr. Pease was President of the Southington PTA, coached midget football for many years and was instrumental in the formation of the New Britain Cooperative Nursery School. Mr. Pease was active in his church, including serving as Deacon at the First Congregational Church of Port St. Lucie. After moving to Florida, Mr. Pease was a volunteer at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center. Mr. Pease was dedicated to his own recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous as well as sponsoring many in need. His many friends in AA would have known him as "Larry."

Mr. Pease leaves his wife, Bette (Tebbe Davis); sons, Lawrence Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; Chandler of Lyman, Maine, Ronald of Plainville and Todd of Griswold; daughters, Belinda Burke of Sherborn, Mass., Barbara Pease of Arundel, Mass., and Margaret Pease of Kennebunk, Maine; a sister, Martha Pease Bronson of Naples, Fla.; brothers, Maurice of Chilmark, Mass., and Waterville Valley, N.H.; and Allen of Kensington; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 14 step-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the First Congregational Church of Port St. Lucie, 2401 SE Sidonia St., in Port St. Lucie. Interment will take place in Kensington in the spring and a Celebration of Life will be offered inJune on Martha's Vineyard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Inc., 805 Virginia Ave., Suite 15, Fla. 34952.

Come support Southington High School's chapter of the National Honor Society January 28, from 5 to 11 p.m. at Friendly's. 15 percent of the proceeds will go toward our third annual scholarship fund.
