Frances Davino Tomassetti

MERIDEN -- Frances Davino Tomassetti, wife of the late Edward G. Tomassetti, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003.

She is survived by her son, Edward F. Tomassetti and his wife, Lorraine LeFort Tomassetti; two granddaughters, Mary Beth Krzyston and her husband, John, and Lorraine Lee Tomassetti. She also leaves two sisters, Jane Civitate and Ann Indorf; and a brother, Mario Davino; three great-grandchildren, Leigh Mary, John Edward, and Jakob Anthony Krzston; as well as several nieces and nephews; and many caring friends. She is predeceased by four sisters, Philomena DiBeneditto, Mae Graveline, Theresa Martino, and Mana Markowski; a brother, John Davino; and her great-granddaughter, Katherine Helen Krzyson.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, CT.

The family request that donations in behalf of Mrs. Tomassetti's memory be made to the Meriden-Wallingford Ostomy Association in care of Helen Coty, 23 Elika Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Carmen D. Torres

MERIDEN -- Carmen Dolores Torres, 45, of Willow Street, died Friday, Jan. 17th at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Juan Martinez.

She was born Jan. 21, 1957 in Humacao, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Miguel A. and Aida Torres. She worked as an English teacher for the Gonzales-Melo Elementary School in Calvache, Rincon, Puerto Rico. She was a member of the Teacher Association in Puerto Rico. She was also a member of the Alpha and Omega Christian Church of Meriden.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Angel Ruiz of New Britain; a daughter, Jessica Ruiz of Southington; a sister, Zaida Torres of Hormigueros, Puerto Rico; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Jessirah Maldonado of Southington; and several nieces, cousins and other relatives. Ex-husband, Angel H. Ruiz of Rincon, Puerto Rico, also survives her.

Funeral services and burial will take place in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Family and friends may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main Street, Meriden on Tuesday, Jan. 21st from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sandra Trybulski

MERIDEN -- Sandra Trybulski, wife of David Trybulski and mother of Eric Trybulski, died Jan. 18, 2003 at her home in Meriden.

She was born in Waterbury, Dec. 29, 1955, the daughter of Alfred Ziemba of Cromwell and Marie Zdeb Matcho of Meriden. A lifelong resident of Meriden, she attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.

Besides her husband, David and son, Eric and her parents, she leaves two brothers, Frederick Ziemba of Weathersford, Okla. and Alan Ziemba of West Haven; and a sister, Linda Verdolini of Middletown. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Scott Ziemba.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The family request that donations in behalf of Sandra's memory be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06450.

Eleanor Beach

MERIDEN -- Eleanor Borst Beach, 77, of 88 Elmwood Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Owen M. Beach.

Born in Meriden on June 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late F. Baldwin and Corrine Bicknell Borst. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and Larson Junior College (now Quinnipiac University) and had worked at New Departure and as the sales director of Yale Manor Inn. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Meriden.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jeffrey O. Beach and Jonathan L. Beach, both of Meriden; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Jane Borst of Houston, Texas ; a granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Stewart Sill of Youngsville, N.C.; a great-grandson, Connor Sill of Youngsville, N.C.; and two nieces, Laura Jane Borst of Houston, Texas , and Patricia Hebert of Upton, Mass.

A graveside service and burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. John Wayne Clark will officiate. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Beach's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

Jean Borkowski

MERIDEN -- Jean (Hepp) Borkowski, 68, of 31 Fremont St., wife of Teddy L. Borkowski, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Born in Meriden, March 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Powers) Hepp, and had resided in Meriden all her life. Mrs. Borkowski was educated in the Meriden schools and was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church.

Besides her husband, Teddy, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Diane (Gagne) Borkowski of Harrisburg, N.C.; three grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey and Nicole Borkowski; a brother, Alton Hepp of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Mroczka; and a brother, William Hepp.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, South Meriden. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Charles J. Canning

WALLINGFORD -- Charles J. Canning, 80, formerly of 88 South Whittlesey Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven.

He was born in Wallingford, Oct. 6, 1922, a son of the late Patrick J. and Annie M. Reynolds Canning. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater as a U.S. Army sergeant. Until his retirement, he had been a general clerk at former R.W. Wallace & Sons.

He is survived by three brothers, James R. Canning, Adrain R. Canning and William T. Canning, all of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Francis and John Canning.

The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford, on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony Road, Wallingford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Wallingford. If friends so desire gifts in his memory may be sent to the Holy Trinity School (Needy Student Fund), 11 North Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Elizabeth A. Fusco

SOUTHINGTON -- Elizabeth Ann Fusco, 69, of 92 Ridgewood Road, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at home. She was the wife of the late George M. Fusco Sr.

Born in Southington on Oct. 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Aloysius F. and Mary (Muszynski) Fusco. She was a lifelong resident of Southington and was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Angelo M. Fusco and his wife, Helene of West Hartford, George M. Fusco Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Southington, Mary Aleia and her husband, Bryan of Bristol and Frank J. Fusco of Southington; two sisters, Eleanor Burdette and Dorothy DeLuco both of Southington; three brothers, Aloysius Binkowski of Plainville, Robert Binkowski of Southington and Richard Binkowski of Suffield; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa and Michael Fusco and Brenden Aleia; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Thomas F. Goldbach

PRESTON -- Mr. Thomas F. Goldbach III, 41, of Drawbridge Road, Preston, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, in his home.

Son of Cecelia Schenk Goldbach and Thomas F. Goldbach Jr., both of East Haven, he was born May 22, 1961 in Albany, N.Y. Mr. Goldbach was a mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie M. Goldbach of Wallingford; two sons, Robert W. Goldbach of Berlin and Thomas F. Goldbach IV of Sagamore, Mass.; a sister, Lisa Goldbach of Branford; and a brother, William Goldbach of Milford.

Funeral from the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., on the Green, Milford, Thursday, Jan. 23, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, Milford. Committal will be private. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Frank E. Tomasiewicz

SOUTHINGTON -- Frank E. Tomasiewicz, 79, of Meriden Ave., Southington, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the Southington Car Center. He was the husband of the late Paula Bugar Tomasiewicz.

Born in Southington May 12, 1923, the son of the late Anthony and Marianna Mizia Tomasiewicz, Frank had been a lifelong resident. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years, having served in both World War II and the Korean War. He also retired from Pratt & Whitney and was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.

Frank is survived by his sister, Mary Malinowski of Southington; three brothers, John Tomasiewicz of Weston, Michael Tomasiewicz of Harwinton and Edward Tomasiewicz of Glastonbury; his step-son, Victor Tomasiewicz of San Francisco, Calif.; a cousin, Bill Tomaszewicz; and several nieces and nephews. Frank also leaves his "special family" at Southington Care Center; and his dog, Fi Fi "the cutest dog in the world."

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville.
