Edward J. Pisarz

WALLINGFORD -- Edward J. Pisarz, 83, of 16 Grove Street, died suddenly, Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Angela Giannelli Pisarz.

He was born in Meriden, March 14, 1919, a son of the late George and Alice. Zaborwski Pisarz. Mr. Pisarz was a veteran of World War II and had received five bronze battle stars while serving in the U.S. Army. Until his retirement, he was a polisher for the International Silver Company. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville and was a member of the Knights of the Blessed Virgin. He was also a member of Stanley Budleski V.F.W. Post 9965 in Yalesville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald Pisarz and his wife, Barbara of Wallingford; a daughter, Alice Bizzell and her husband, William C. of Golden, Colo.; a brother, Raymond Pisarz of Yalesville; a grandson, Christopher Patrick Pisarz; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brother, Alfred Pisarz and Peter Pisarz.

The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Yalesville. Burial with military honors will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. It is suggested that gifts in his memory be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville, CT 06492, or Our Lady of Fatima Church, Religious Education Center, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville, CT 06492.

William M. Smith

HEBRON -- William M. Smith, 51, beloved husband of Janice (Braman) Smith, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Born March 4, 1951, in Meriden, son of Donald and Margaret (Morris) Smith of Clinton, he was raised in Meriden and had lived in Hebron for the past 41/2 years. Bill received his B.S. from Bryant College in Rhode Island and his Master's from the University of New Haven and was a Budget Administrator with the Travelers. He played golf at Blackledge in Hebron with the Travelers Golf League, was treasurer at Gilead Congregational Church in Hebron, and was a member of the Stratomatic Club.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelly F. and James R. Pasinski of Meriden, Kristine L. Smith of Branford; two step-children, Jonathan M. Turner and Sarah L. Turner, both of Hebron; two brothers, Peter Smith of New Jersey, James Smith of Meriden; a grandchild, Austin Pasinski; several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a very large extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Gilead Congregational Church, Hebron, with the Rev. Denise Esslinger officiating. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery, Hebron at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, Friday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.

Infant Lateeia S. Wright

MERIDEN -- Lateeia S. Wright, three-month-old child of Brian T. Wright and Shamieka Hinton of Bunker Ave., Meriden, died suddenly on Wednesday evening at Hartford Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 16, 2002, in Farmington.

In addition to her parents, she is also survived by two sisters, Antoinette Johnson of New Britain and Kyndya Carr of Middletown. Her grandparents are Harold and Linda Wright of Meriden and Robert Hinton of Hartford, and the late Brenda (Lebby) Allen.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, Feb. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Community Church of Jesus & Ministries, 146 Center Street in Meriden. With the Pastor Judy Moss officiating, burial to follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to the family. The Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main St., Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Dorajean Apuzzo

WALLINGFORD -- Dorajean Day Apuzzo, 58, of Deme Road, beloved wife of Frank P. Apuzzo, Sr., died Sunday, February 9, 2003, at the Yale New Haven Hospital.

Born in New Haven, August 12, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Madeline Camputaro Day and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She had been a Beautician at the Bella Vista Coiffures in New Haven for several years and had most recently been employed at the Ashlar Village in Wallingford until her retirement due to illness. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.

Besides her husband Frank, she is survived by her daughter, Kristin L. Apuzzo and her son Frank P. Apuzzo, Jr. both of Wallingford; her sister, Maryanne Cyr of Milford; her brother, Vincent D. Day of Meriden and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Alberta Baumgart.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.

Edward M. Chrostowski

MERIDEN -- Edward M. Chrostowski, 89, of South Broad Terrace and husband of Harriet Grzybowski Chrostowski died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at the MidState Medical Center.

Born Jan. 8, 1914 in Denning, Ariz., he was the son of the late Martin and Wanda Gawris Chrostowski. After his early childhood in Arkansas, Mr. Chrostowski settled in Meriden and was employed by the International Silver Co., for over 34 years retiring in 1979. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, an avid salt-water fisherman, an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a former National Marble Champion.

Besides his wife, Mr. Chrostowski leaves a son, Robert E. Chrostowski and daughter-in-law, Donna of Clinton; a daughter, Susan LaChance and her husband Guy of Killingworth; a brother, Leon Christowski of Meriden; two sisters, Lucy Dominello of Long Beach, Calif., and Wanda Maerki of Burlington, Vt.; and two grandchildren, Robin Munster of Haddam and Jennifer LaChance of Killingworth. A brother, Carl Chrostowski; and a sister, Harriet Andrus predeceased him.

The funeral of Mr. Chrostowski will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Oronzo W. DelFino Jr.

BRISTOL -- Oronzo W. DelFino Jr., 40, of 482 Lake Ave., died unexpected Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at home.

Born in Southington on Jan. 2, 1963, the son Oronzo W. DelFino Sr. and the late Joan Ann (Wydra) DelFino. He was a 1981 graduate of Southington High School. Mr. DelFino was a former employee of Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Southington and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.

Besides his father of Southington, he is survived by a son, Michael Julian Kubala DelFino of Southington; a sister, Joanne DelFino Bradley of Southington; a niece Billie-Jo Ann Bradley of Southington; his paternal grandmother, Lillian Bayne of Bristol.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m.

Linda Fishman

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Linda Fishman, 55, of Boca Raton, Fla., and formerly of Meriden, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003. She was the wife of the late Superior Court Judge Milton Fishman in 1986.

Upon her retirement 10 years ago, she moved to Boca Raton, Fla., to be near family. Mrs. Fishman was the Chief Records Court Administrator for Connecticut, heading the Superior Court records system for the entire State of Connecticut. She was on the Board of Directors for Family Services an the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was very active in several local and surrounding area charity fund-raising events, with special interest to the Cystic Fibrosis and The American Heart Association. Linda was a very giving and caring person, who wanted to help anyone and everyone she could. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her kind and generous heart. Linda was the center and respected head of the family, always available; she truly loved her family.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Hope Miller Colligan of Boca Raton, Fla.; devoted brother, Arthur B. Colligan of Boca Raton, Fla.; and loving sisters, Faith (Jerry) Dreschsler of Clinton Beach, Bernice (Jerald) Fercency of Boca Raton, Fla., and Brenda (Kenneth) Toms of Kingston, Tenn.; six nephews; two nieces; 10 grandnieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Babione Funeral Home, 1100 N. Fed. Highway, Boca Raton, Fla. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Boca Raton, Fla. Final place of rest will be at the Boca Raton Mausoleum. Carol A. Howland

HOLLISTON, Mass. -- Carol Ann Howland, 66, of Holliston Mass., formerly of Wallingford died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at Blaire House in Milford, Mass. She was the wife of William B. Howland.

Born in Wallingford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Ryan) Huey. She had been a resident of Holliston since 1984 and formerly lived in Bowie, Md.

Besides her husband, she leaves her son, William B. Howland Jr. of Lancaster, Mass.; her daughters, Julie Emplit of Sandwich, Mass., Lisa Zadjura of Woodstock, Md., Stacy Howland of Hopkinton, Mass., Christine Torres of Holliston, Mass., Lindsey Cowan of Hopedale, Mass., and Michelle Contreras of Uxbridge, Mass.; and 15 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Mary's Church in Holliston, Mass. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Holliston, Mass.

Dina Raffaeta

MERIDEN -- Dina Mallegni Raffaeta, 95, of Broad St., Meriden, formerly of Franklin St., Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Serafino Raffaeta, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at the Miller Memorial Community in Meriden.

Born in Camaiore, Italy, June 10, 1907, a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Argia Boggi Mallegni, she had been a Wallingford resident for over 80 years. She was parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church and a Charter Member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Society of the parish.

She is survived by her son, George J. Raffaeta, of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Angelina Mallegni, Pearl Mallegni, Blanche Gemignani and Julia Bandecchi; and a brother Michael Mallegni.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity Church, 68 North Colony Street, Wallingford, CT 06492.
