Mamedio Filho
Mamedio Filho, 87, of Claremont Avenue, Wallingford died Sunday, February 23, 2003, at the Skyview Center in Wallingford.
Born in Sergipe, Brazil, August 17, 1915, he was a son of the late Mamedio Francisco Siqueira and Maria Yoride Anis Filho and had been a Wallingford resident for over 50 years. He was employed by the former Insilco for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Lucille Cryan of Wallingford; his two grandchildren, Maryann Cryan of Ivoryton and Paul Cryan of Wallingford; his great granddaughter, Amanda Cryan; and a sister of Brazil.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 1 p.m. in the Wallingford Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery
in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Skyview Center, 35 Marc Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
Robert Ford
SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Robert (Bobby) Thomas Ford, 33, passed away suddenly Feb. 17, 2003 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in California. Bobby was a resident of Petaluma, Calif. and a Portland, Maine native. He attended Platt High School in Meriden and graduated from NOVA Adult Education in California. Bobby had worked in the towing service industry for the past 10 years, and was an avid billiard player and skier. As a child, he was a member of the Mount Southington Ski Racing Team. Bobby will be greatly missed and always be in the hearts of his family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his two children, Kayla and Justin Ford and former spouse, Carrie A. Ford, all of Novato, Calif.; parents, Thomas and Fern Ford of Casco, Maine; brother, Kevin Ford and his wife, Joann of Bridgeton, Maine and Darren and his wife, Rosanne of Meriden; his maternal grandmother, Idella Pennell of Casco, Maine; niece, Jessica and nephews, Chris, Mike and Tommy, all of Bridgeton, Maine. Bobby was also survived by his girlfriend, Carole Lamanna of Petaluma, Calif.
A celebration of Bobby's life was held Feb. 22 at the Novato Presbyterian Church in Novato, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Keaton's Redwood Chapel of Novato, Calif. A service will be held March 1, 2003 at Hall's Funeral Home, Quaker Ridge Road in Casco, Maine. A service will be held in Meriden at a later date.

Warren Fenn Bodurtha Gardner
MOUNT HOREB, WI -- Warren Fenn Bodurtha Gardner died of pneumonia and the effects of Parkinson's disease at the Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb, WI in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 23, surrounded by his daughter and two grandsons. Four of his grandchildren shared their favorite memories and read poetry and passages from Shakespeare in the hours leading to his passing. He was born January 20, 1909 at his home in Meriden, Connecticut to Mildred Fenn Bodurtha Gardner and Byron Robert Gardner. His mother Mildred died of post-partum measles three weeks later, and he was raised by his father, two loving grandmothers, Carrie Fenn Bodurtha and Millanie Virginia Pratt Gardner, his devoted aunt Ruth Gardner Styring, and later by a caring stepmother, Agnes Auger Gardner.
Warren Gardner graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, in 1932, and worked as a reporter for the Watertown Times, the Dairy Farmers Union, and the Troy Record in New York State, before returning to his home town paper, the Meriden Morning Record. Among the awards he received as a journalist were the Associated Press Managing Editors Service Award, Golden Quill Award of the New England Society of Newspaper Editors, St. Lawrence University Distinguished Alumni Award, and Induction into the Meriden Hall of Fame. He retired as Editor in 1979, but as Editor Emeritus continued writing a twice weekly column "Of All Things" until macular degeneration deprived him of his eyesight. The column drew on his considerable knowledge of Meriden and Connecticut history and his interest in the natural world.
Mr. Gardner was pre-deceased by the aforementioned parents and grandparents and by three wives, Eva Phillips Gardner (mother of sons David and Robert), Barbara Ashcroft Irish Gardner (who died 9 days after birth of daughter Meg) and Julia Challis Gardner who died in 2001. Following her death, he moved to Wisconsin to be near his daughter Meg Skinner. He leaves his sons David F. (Alice) Gardner of Beverly, MA and Robert W. (Karen) Gardner of Newtown, CT, and daughter Margaret G. (A. Neil) Skinner of Madison, WI. He further leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Grandsons Christopher (Kathy) Gardner of Newtown, CT, Dr. Timothy (Jo Ellen) Gardner of Enfield, NH, Andrew (Dr. Allison) Gardner of Boston, MA, and E. Benjamin Skinner of Brooklyn, NY; Granddaughters, Sarah Gardner Cavanaugh of North Attleboro, MA, and Sarah Diane (fiance' Craig Bettez) Gardner of Manchester, NH. He further leaves two great-grandsons, Andrew Scott Gardner of Newtown, CT and Matthew Robert Gardner of Enfield, NH. He also leaves a brother, Norman Gardner, of Clinton, New York.
At his request, his body was donated to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Anatomy Dept. Body Donor Program. His ashes will ultimately be interred in the Walnut Grove Cemetery
in Meriden CT among his Yankee ancestors, Gardners, Pratts, Fenns and Bodurthas.

Reginald A. Garesio Sr.
MERIDEN -- Reginald A. Garesio Sr., 67, husband of Sandra (Lombardo) Garesio, died Sunday morning, Feb. 23, 2003 at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Bristol, on Oct. 23, 1935, he was the son of Chiarra Tino Garesio and the late Louis Garesio Sr. of Plainville. He had resided in Meriden for the past 41 years and graduated from Plainville High School. Mr. Garesio was employed by FPI Co., No. Haven, retiring four years ago. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Marine Corp. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Meriden.
Besides his wife Sandra and mother, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws: Area and Randall Vagnini, of Farmington, and Lynn and Christopher Corte of Meriden, a son and daughter-in-law: Reginald A. and Diane Garesio Jr., of Middletown, eight grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law: Jeanette and William Soden, of Bristol, a brother and sister-in-law: Louis and Karen Garesio Jr., of Bristol; also survived by several nieces and several nephews.
The Funeral will be held on Thurs. Feb. 27, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, W. Main St., Meriden. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Walter F. Grodzki
MERIDEN -- Walter F. Grodzki, 81, of 266 Kesteven Court, ex-husband of Carol Racker Stiegler, died on Sunday evening, Feb. 23, 2003, at the Meriden Center after a lengthy illness. His survivors include: a daughter, Janice L. Grodzki of Essex; a son, William A. Grodzki of Meriden; a sister, Helen Grodzki of Meriden; also, five grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 at a time to be announced at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Donna M. Grzybowski
CORNING, NY -- Donna M. Grzybowski, age 41, of Thurber Road, Corning, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and complications therefrom.
Donna was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on April 15, 1961 the daughter of James and Elenore (Saylor) Lamb. She attended Franklin Pierce College in Ringe, NH. She was the wife of Richard Grzybowski whom she married on June 23, 1984 in Southington, CT. Donna loved to grow herbs in her garden and read. She also enjoyed cooking and was an avid horse rider and music appreciator.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard at home; two daughters, Cassandra and Nerissa Grzybowski of Corning; one sister, Catheryn (Paul) Simpson of Tucson, AZ; an aunt, Bonnie (Herbert) Walsh of Odessa, Ontario, Canada; and her parents: Elenore of Southington, CT, and James Lamb of Little River, SC.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 28, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Inc., 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, 39 E. First Street, Corning at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jorge Gutierrez officiating.

John Francis Hecht
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- John Francis Hecht, 52, of Summerville, formerly of Meriden, Connecticut, husband of Jane Deet Hecht died Feb. 19, 2003 in a Columbia Hospital.
Mr. Hecht was born June 1, 1950 in Meriden, a son of the late Frederick Carl Hecht and Vivian Johnson Hecht. He attended schools in Meriden. He was a sand buffer with International Silver and Cunnette Lamp & Shade in Meriden. After moving to South Carolina he worked as a Day Porter for Dorchester District II. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors are: his wife, Jane D. Hecht of Summerville, S.C.; two sons, Michael John Hecht and Keith Francis Hecht, both of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Frederick Carl Hecht III of Summerville, S.C.; one niece, Laurie Spiezig of Greenwich, N.Y.; one nephew, Frederick Carl Hecht IV of Summerville, S.C.
Memorial Services will be held Feb. 26, 2003 at 7 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 o'clock until hour of service on Wednesday.

Helen F. LaCroix
MERIDEN -- Helen Fagan LaCroix died peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Miller Memorial Community where she had been a resident since 1998. She was the beloved wife of the late Orie LaCroix and the late John Fagan.
Mrs. LaCroix was born in Meriden on October 8, 1912, the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine Pankiewicz. She was raised in Meriden, attended local schools and Laurel Business School. She was a switchboard operator at Stevens Elementary School in Wallingford and some time later at the Central office of the Board of Education located in Lyman Hall High School for many years. While employed, she was known for her sense of humor and fun loving ways. Besides being a loving wife, mother and aunt, she loved to cook and be with her family. She lived in Wallingford for most of her life and later for many years in Yalesville. She was a parishioner of Lady of Fatima Church and also a member of the Polish Lady Falcons.
Mrs. LaCroix will be greatly missed by her devoted sister, Lillian P. Custy (Mrs. Raymond) and her two loving and caring nieces, Linda C. Holmes (Mrs. Peter) of Danielson and Jacqueline C. Ryan (Mrs. William) of Wallingford. She leaves her nephew, Eugene Cuccaro of Meriden; stepdaughter, Lorraine Malone of Wallingford; several great-nieces and nephews; one great-grandniece; three great-grand-nephews; four step grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, John K. Fagan; two sisters, Adeline Cuccaro and Eugenia 'Jean' Pankiewicz and step son-in-law, Larry Malone.
Relatives and friends may call at the John J. Ferry Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Wednesday morning February 26, 2003 from 10 to 11 a.m. and are then invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Yalesville. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery
in Wallingford.
Jeanne M. Martino-Noster
WETHERSFIELD -- Jeanne M. Martino-Noster, 67, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nashua, N.H., on March 16, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Laura (Duchesneau) Michaud. She lived in the area most of her life and retired in 1996 from Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Co. Jeanne was a member of the Wethersfield AARP, Wethersfield Seniors and was a communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. She was the wife of the late Thaddeus Noster.
She loved being with her family and will be sadly missed by her three sons, Michael J. Martino of Gilbert, Ariz., Robert J. Martino, Esq. and his wife, Carolyn of Glastonbury and Richard J. Martino and his wife, Marlena of Plantation, Fla.; two daughters, Lisa J. LaPoint and her husband, Thomas of Southington and Lora M. Sawicki and her husband, Scott of Meriden; a loving and devoted sister, Doris Gagnon and brother, Joseph R. Gagnon, both of Wethersfield. Jeanne was affectionately known as Memere by her 12 grandchildren; and her great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her dear and longtime friend, Barbara Wood of Wethersfield; and several cousins.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Burial in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
