Charles N. Fenn

CHESHIRE -- Charles Neilson Fenn, 93, of Cook Hill Road, formerly of Nelson Ave., Waterbury, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire. He was the husband of Ella C. Fenn.

Mr. Fenn was born Dec. 17, 1909 in Prospect, son of the late Charles S. and Henrietta (Hons) Fenn. He retired from Connecticut Railway and Lighting, the former CR&L Bus Line, for whom he drove trolleys and buses for 39 years. He was a member of East End Seniors Club, Mill Plain Seniors Club, and Cheshire and Prospect Senior Centers. He especially enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cribbage.

Besides his wife, Ella of Elim Park Baptist Home, he leaves a daughter, Nancy F. Taylor and son-in-law, Curtis J. of Stoddard, N.H.; a granddaughter, Erin M. Taylor of Hamden; and several nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews of Connecticut. Two wives, Mary Q. Fenn and Elizabeth P. Fenn; and three brothers, Burton D., Clifford D. and Clarence Fenn are deceased.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday from Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main ST., Historic Downtown Waterbury to SS. Peter and Paul Church for Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.

Ted Soboleski

ESSEX -- After a long illness with Alzheimer's, Ted Soboleski succumbed to his illness on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville.

Ted was born in Meriden, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, owned and was president of Guest Corp. and Pyramid Technologies in Meriden and served on the board of directors for Eckankar.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Herr Soboleski; daughter, Elizabeth Underwood of Santa Rosa, Calif.; son, Thomas Soboleski and his wife, Sharon of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; son, Joseph Soboleski of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; son, James Soboleski and his wife, Tracey of Madison; and daughter, Marnie Ayala and her husband, Rey of Guilford; Ted also had eight grandchildren; nieces, brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Eckankar Temple, 1 Harvest Wood Road, Middlefield. Friends may call at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Road, Madison Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ted's memory to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1261 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479.

Frank W. Davis

NORTHFORD -- Frank W. Davis, 85, formerly of Reeds Gap Rd., died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at his son's home in Salisbury, Md. He was the husband of Ethel Zambory Davis.

He was born in Northford on May 7, 1917, son of the late Henry E. and Nellie T. Smith Davis. He had worked for Allegheny Steel. He was an honorary life member of the K of C, Pinto Council #5 of Wallingford, a member of the United Steelworkers (S.O.A.R.), the former St. Monica's Church Men's Club and a member of the Northford Volunteer Fire Dept. Company #2 and its building committee.

He was the father of Kathryn O'Dea, Nancy, David E. and Frank W. Davis, Jr. and the late Richard A. Davis; brother of Henry E. Davis, Jr. and the late Louise Burr, Helen and Kathryn Davis.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Monica's Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saint's Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica's Church, Middletown Ave., Northford, CT 06472.

Robert E. Dupuis Sr.

ENCINITAS, Calif. -- Robert Edward Dupuis Sr., 81, died February 20, 2003, at his home in Encinitas , Calif.

Bob was born January 19, 1922 in Hartford and graduated from Hartford H.S. class of 1940. He served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated World War II Veteran. After 45 years, as a Master Craftsman Printer in the Hartford area, he retired to Charlestown, R.I., then Boynton Beach, Fla., and finally Encinitas, Calif. Bob is survived by his wife Lorraine; five children Donna and Robert Martin of Wallingford, Robert and Carol Dupuis Jr. of Watertown, Philip Dupuis of Beacon Falls, Mary Ellen and Ray Belom of Wake Forest, N.C., Nancy and Paul Nelson of Encinitas, Calif.; 10 Grand children; and three great-grand children.

Bob's final resting place is at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, Calif. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd. Wallingford, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT. 06492

Herbert F. Meehan Jr.

Herbert F. Meehan, Jr., 80, of 231 Metacomet Drive, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at the MidState Medical Center.

Born on July 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Herbert and Anna (Kumnick) Meehan, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Herbert Meehan graduated from Meriden High School in 1940 and was a lifetime member of St. Rose of Lima Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the rank of Sergeant, as a Mechanical Gunner on a B-24 in the 460th Army Air Force. Mr. Meehan was a graduate of the University of New Haven and worked for the Miller Company, Illuminating Division for 35 years. He also worked for Seamless Hospital Products Company, from where he retired in 1987.

Herbert is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Joyce Ekstrom Meehan; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Joseph Martinell of Meriden; a son and daughter-in-law, James Meehan and Mary Evelyn Green of Cheshire; and two step-children, Susan Ekstrom Schumm of Woodbury, Georgia and Rick Ekstrom of Meriden. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lisa Ann Phillips of Meriden, David Martinell of Gloucester, Mass., Erik Ekstrom and Dylan Clark Ekstrom of Meriden; a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen Ann and Siro Toffolon of Old Lyme; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lube Susan (Petrochko) Meehan.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, March 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Laurel Dialysis Fund, 377 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Joseph J. Stupak

WALLINGFORD -- Joseph J. Stupak, 68, of Ernest Street, died unexpectedly Friday, March 14, 2003, at MidState Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Mary Maciorowski Stupak.

Born in Avoca, Pa, January 3, 1935, the son of the late Paul and Mary Bonczek Stupak, he was a Wallingford resident for many years. He had been employed by the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Corporation both in North Haven and East Hartford until his retirement. He was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Pinta Council No 5 of Wallingford.

Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by his two daughters, Jacquelyn Mills and her husband Gregory Mills of Cheshire, and Monica Stupak of Orlando, Fla.; his son, Michael J. Stupak of Wallingford; two grandchildren, Emily Mills and Joshua Mills of Cheshire; two sisters, Edna (Mrs. Henry) Drasba of Port Jervis, N.Y. and Carol Mackarevich and her husband Andy Mackarevich of Lake Arial, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 North Orchard St., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Florence R. Gracie

WATERBURY -- Florence Rosalie (Gurtowski) Gracie, 87, died Saturday, March 15th at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph W. Gracie, Jr.

Mrs. Gracie was born in Meriden, July 28th, 1915, daughter of the late Walter and Madeline (Kita) Gurtowski. She was a resident of Waterbury for over 60 years. She was a real estate broker, and along with her husband started a real estate business in Waterbury. She continued to run the business for over 30 years after the death of her husband, until recently when illness forced her to retire. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden.

She is survived by two daughters, Janyce Pendola of Waterbury and Marsha Gracie of Connecticut; a sister, Evelyn Gendron of Meriden; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Waterbury. Burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden. Calling hours are Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kelly-Brennan Funeral Home, 768 Baldwin St., Waterbury, CT 06706. Contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron Street, Meriden, CT 06450.

Henry Hatch

MERIDEN -- Henry Hatch, 64 of Fowler Ave, Ext., died on Friday at the Conn. Hospice of Branford.

Born on May 2, 1938 in Calais, Maine, son of Hester (Ashby) Hatch of Lubec, Maine and the late Ruel M. Hatch. He had been a resident of Meriden most of his life.

Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Ken Hatch of So. Meriden, Steve Hatch of Meriden; a brother, Earl Hatch of Florida; two sisters, Margaret Franz of Maine, Marian Gardner of California; a loving grandson, Nicholas Hatch of Kearnersville, N.C.; also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be private.

JoAnn Kirchgaessner

MERIDEN -- JoAnn Kirchgaessner, 73, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died on March 13, 2003, at MidState Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born in St. Francis, Maine on July 1, 1929. She resided in Meriden most of her life and retired from Corometrics Medical Systems.

She is survived by three daughters; two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister; and one brother. She is also survived by three nieces.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Tuesday morning, March 18, at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours.
