Carl L. Davenport

WALLINGFORD -- Carl L. Davenport, 68, of Jenna Road, passed away peacefully at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford on Thursday, March 20, 2003. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. Castagnetti Davenport.

Born in Meriden on April 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Harvey and Justine Fischer Davenport, he had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He had been employed by Platt Brothers of Waterbury for over 20 years, until his retirement in 1995. He was a peacetime veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, where he had served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He had been a member and past Master of Masonic Temple Lodge No. 16 of Cheshire. He had been an active leader in scouting and the Yalesville Little League. He was an avid fan of UConn Women's Basketball and truly loved his Boston Red Sox.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Nancy Williams and Scott Kashur of Meriden; his two sons David Davenport and his wife, Christine of Cromwell and Eric Davenport and Janet Gonzalez of Meriden; his seven grandchildren; his sister, Crystal Holterman of Glouster, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Davenport and Ray Davenport.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the First Congregational Church Memorial Fund at 203 South Main St., Wallingford, CT. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, CT.

Julia G. McCullough

MIDDLETOWN -- Julia G. McCullough, 91, of Middletown, formerly of Bayside, N.Y., died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Skyview Center in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. McCullough.

She is the loving mother of her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Robert Heidgerd of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, Walter J. McCullough Jr. and Karen McCullough of Weston; her five grandchildren, Robert Heidgerd Jr., Richard Heidgerd, Rohn Heidgerd, John McCullough and Patti Spinelli; and seven great grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service followed by a memorial service in Bayside, N.Y. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the church or charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, CT.

Gerald J. O'Reilly

LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- Gerald J. O'Reilly, 81, of Longmeadow, Mass., formerly of Meriden, husband of Vera Burger, died suddenly on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at his home.

Born in Wallingford, on Jan. 24, 1922, the son of the late Edgar and Ida Tandetske O'Reilly, he had resided in Meriden. For most of his life prior to moving to Longmeadow in January. Mr. O'Reilly was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, the University of Hartford, and received a Masters in Education from Trinity College. He was a high school teacher in the New Haven school system for over 25 years, retiring several years ago. Mr. O'Reilly was a veterans of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Meriden.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carol O'Reilly of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and Marion O'Reilly and her fiancé, Troy Ford of Meriden; two grandchildren, Tina O'Reilly and Francisco Mendez Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Julius Martin Cruz and Izaiah Vincent Cruz; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Kifmire O'Reilly of Meriden; a sister, Monica Gauthier of Meriden; and a brother, George O'Reilly of Tucson, Ariz.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Louise M. Ainsworth

SOUTHINGTON -- Louise M. (DePaolo) Ainsworth, 97, formerly of Southington, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Mediplex in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Richard Ainsworth.

Born in Southington on Feb. 17,1906, the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Tabano) DePaolo. Mrs. Ainsworth was a resident of West Springfield, Mass., for most of her life.

She is survived by a son, Richard L. and his wife, Louise I. Ainsworth of Newtown; four grandchildren, Steven of Illinois, Michael of Forida, William of Woodbury and Diane of North Granby; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Frank E. Dembiczak

SOUTHINGTON -- Frank E. Dembiczak, 77, of 186 Summit St., Plantsville section, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Louise (Fusciello) Dembiczak.

Born in Southington on March 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Walscak) Dembiczak. Frank was employed by Untied Technologies for 35 years before his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Fred Kupec of Bristol; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Alexander Kasek; and sisters, Katherine Dube and Genevieve Belanger.

The funeral will be held Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 9 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Thomas School, 99 Bristol St., Southington, CT 06489.

Wanda v. Glaviano

WALLINGFORD -- Wanda V. Wasilewski Glaviano, 87, of Hillcrest Road, Wallingford, beloved wife of Salvatore J. Glaviano, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Born in Wallingford, July 1915, a daughter of the late Boleslaw and Anna Kaminiska Wasilewski, she had been a lifelong resident. A Registered Nurse, she was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Army Nurse Corps, as a 1st Lieutenant, and was a member of Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation Inc., of Washington , DC. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Wallingford Country Club for over 50 years. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

Besides her husband, Salvatore, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Gwen M. Glaviano of Wallingford; her three grandchildren, Neal Glaviano, Eric Glaviano and Marissa Glaviano; her sister, Marion Mierzejewski of Berlin; her brother, Joseph Wasilewski of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Jennie Wasilewski and Helen Mik; and a brother, Michael Wasilewski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave. Meriden, CT 06450 or to the Most Holy Trinity Church Preservation Project, 68 North Colony St., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford.

Josephine Rodrigues

MERIDEN -- Josephine Rodrigues, 89, of 380 Crown St., died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Curtis home.

Born in Meriden on Nov. 14, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Maria Luca. She had resided in Meriden all her life. Ms. Rodrigues was employed by International Silver Co., for many years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Senior Bowling Club of Meriden.

Ms. Rodrigues is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gil Miglietta of Meriden; four nephews, Alfred DiNino of Meriden, Richard Miglietta of Meriden, John Miglietta of Southington, Arthur Miglietta of Florida; and two nieces, Ann Hansell of San Diego, Calif., and Marilyn Petrella of Meriden.

A private funeral with the burial in the family plot in Sacred Heart Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial Mass for Josephine will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Louis F. Betzig

MILFORD -- Louis F. Betzig, 80, of Yale Ave, died peacefully Friday March 21, 2003 at Milford Health Care. He was the husband of Virginia Miller Betzig.

Son of the late Louis and Rose Riley Betzig, he was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on June 17, 1922 and was a resident of Milford for the past 51 years. He worked as a Data Processing Supervisor for the City of Milford for 21 years before his retirement and he was also an advocate for the Retired City Employees Benefits and Rights. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Mr. Betzig is survived by two daughters, Roseanne Meyer and her husband, Sky of Milford; Linda Germain and her husband, Ray of Wallingford; a son Jim Betzig and his wife, Andrea of Orange; seven grandchildren, Jim and Tom Betzig, Mikhael and Bill Meyer, Christine and Brian Germain, Melissa DeVellis; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Joey, Ainsley, and Andrew. He is also survived by his sister Marie Betzig of Milford. He was pre-deceased by a brother Walter Betzig; and two sisters, Margaret Rose and Rose Marie Betzig.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass Christian Burial on Monday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf St, Milford. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements in care of Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Yale New Haven Hospital New Born Special Care Unit, Office of Development, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT. 06508.

Francis J. Callahan

SOUTHINGTON -- Francis J. Callahan, 91, of 283 Berlin Ave. died Friday March 21, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Whelan) Callahan for 53 years.

Born in Southington on Dec. 18, 1911, the son of the late Jerimiah and Ellen (Kane) Callahan. Prior to his retirement in 1972 he had was employed by the Southington Post Office for 38 years. Mr. Callahan was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. He was an avid sports fan and had supported many local teams.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Gerald F. Callahan of Belgrade Lakes, Maine; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris ( Gingras) Callahan; a son, James M. Callahan; and a sister, Elizabeth Rousseau.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
