Lillian D. Falcigno

WALLINGFORD -- Lillian D. "Queenie" Souza Falcigno, 84, of North Whittlesey Avenue, Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Anthony "Tony" Falcigno, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at her residence.

Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, May 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Manuel and Eugenia Castro Souza, she had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. She had been employed by the former Stanley Judd Company of Wallingford for many years until her retirement and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn A. DeFigueiredo, of Wallingford; her son Walter E. Sequist and his wife Diane Sequist; her grandchildren, Dawn N. DeFigueiredo of Wallingford, Nelson J. DeFigueiredo, his wife Maureen, and their son Carter, of Cheshire, Jodi Schweiger, her husband Michael and their daughters, Lauren and Natasha of Meriden, Marcia Ettorre, her husband Fabrizio and their son Tomasso of Plainville; her brother, Walter Souza of Bronx, NY; her dear friend Patricia E. Hinkley of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Rodrigues and Dorothy Crisci and a brother Gilbert Souza.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Monday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450 or to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Robert J. Farley Jr.

OCALA, Fla. -- Robert John Farley Jr., 59, died on March 19, 2003 at his home from a long term illness. He was the husband of Jacqueline Farley of Ocala, Fla.

Born on Nov. 26, 1943, son of his beloved mother, Helen Farley of Oxford and the late Robert Farley Sr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, and served as a member of the 508th Airborne Division in Fort Kobbe, Panama. And before retiring to Florida, he was a foreman at Dayhill Roofing Company in Connecticut for many years.

Besides his wife, he is also survived by his three children, two daughters, Deborah Tangney and her husband, Eric Tangney of Wallingford, Kimberly Ferraiolo and her husband, Anthony Ferraiolo of Wallingford and his son, Robert E. Farley and his wife, Sherry Farley of North Haven; also his six grandchildren, Shyanne, Kyle, Samantha, Bobby, Lucian and Lexi; his sister, Grace Ann Farley and her partner, Joe Kewolis of Oxford; his brother, Joseph Farley and his wife, Camille Farley of East Haven; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Farley.

The family would like to invite you to a memorial gathering in Robert's honor from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at the VFW, Prince St., Wallingford. Directions: 91N, take exit 13 and take a right at traffic light onto Rte. 5. Continue straight for about a mile, Prince St., will be on the right.

Thomas A. Graham

MERIDEN -- Thomas A. (Pete) Graham, 68, of 60 Hanover St., died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Westfield Care and Rehab Center.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Stocksdale will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Marie A. Lanteri

SOUTHINGTON -- Marie A. Lanteri, 83, of 48 Bagley Rd., died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Nicholas P. Lanteri.

Born Nov. 14, 1919 in Southington daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Josephine (DePaolo) Adamo. She had retired in 1985 from Bradley Memorial Hospital where she had worked for 23 years. Mrs. Lanteri was a volunteer nurse's aid during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Calendar House, a former member of St. Thomas Church Altar Society and a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church.

Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Paul C. Lanteri and his wife, Amy of Stratford; a daughter, Annelise M. Fusco and her husband, Salvatore of Southington; five grandchildren, Michelle Hobson and her husband, Keith, Melissa Patrick and her husband, Gene, Christopher Fusco and his wife, Lynn, Lindsay Lanteri and Andrew Lanteri; her great grandchildren, David and Kathryn Hobson, Celina and Alexander Patrick; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery Calling hours will be Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m.

Adam J. Sokolowski

OLD SAYBROOK -- Adam J. Sokolowski, 83, husband of Theresa Zangari Sokolowski and retired Major in the Meriden Police Department died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

Born Oct. 20, 1919 in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of the late Adam L. and Jadwiga Wasilewski Sokolowski. He spent his youth in Wallingford and settled in Meriden where he resided for 44 years retiring to Old Saybrook. Mr. Sokolowski was a graduate of the Washington , D.C. University of Criminology and studied at New York University and Oxford University in Cambridge, England. He had a 25-year career with the Meriden Police Department and retired as Deputy Chief in 1975. In his next career Mr. Sokolowski was a realtor, real estate appraiser, banking assessor and a former property manager of the Meriden HUB in downtown Meriden. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Meriden and the Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook. At Grace Church he participated on the Finance Committee.

Throughout his life Mr. Sokolowski was very active in civic, business and fraternal organization. He was a participating member of the Republican Town Committees of Meriden and Old Saybrook, the Saybrook Zoning Board, the Oxford Club and Offshore Institute, the Dale Carnegie Institute from which he received national recognition, the Meriden Chamber of Commerce, the Meriden Town Criers, the Meriden Kiwanis, the Meriden Falcons, the PLAV Post 189, POSTEP, the Meriden Order of Masons, the Knights of Columbus, the Meriden and Westbrook Elks and the Sassy Seniors of Old Saybrook.

Besides his wife, Terry, he leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Jan and Carol Sokolowski of Meriden, Attorney Robert and Gail Sokolowski of Meriden; and a stepson, Scott Rozzi of Burlington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Adam J. Sokolowski will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 20 Catlin St., Meriden. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Meriden Police Benevolent Association, P.O. Box 655, Meriden, CT 06450.

Jose A. Valentin

MERIDEN -- Jose Antonio "Lalo" Valentin, 81, formerly of Willow Street, died Saturday, March 22nd at Meriden Nursing Home. He was the husband of Monserrate (Lopez) Valentin.

He was born June 9, 1921, in Anasco, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Gumercindo and Agustina (Suarez) Valentin. He was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana of Meriden.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Magda Rios and Zaida Arroyo, both of Meriden; a sister, Nilza Santana of Bronx, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Nausica Vargas and Joshua Arroyo, both of Meriden; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah and Nehemiah Vargas, all of Meriden.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25th at 12:00 noon at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main St., Meriden. Burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Junior H. White

MERIDEN -- Junior H. White, 79, of 89 Columbus Ave., husband of Sharon (Keating) white, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at MidState Medical Center.

Born in Green Bank, W.V., on June 22, 1923, the son of the late Ressie H. and Myrtle R. White, he had been a resident of Meriden for most of his life. He was a graduate of Green Bank High School in West Virginia, class of 1941. Mr. White was employed by Chandler-Evans Co. from 1946 to 1957, and with A.G.C. of South Meriden, from 1957 to 1992, retiring as plant manager. More recently, he worked part-time for Arrow Drug and Omni Care. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army in Germany. Mr. White was a member of the First Congregational Church and was very active as a member of the B.P.O.E. #35.

Besides his wife, Sharon, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, C.J., Jr. and Pearl Pulaski of Meriden; three special grandchildren, C.J. III, Holly and Duane; a sister, Gwen McVaney of Southington; also three sons, Robert, Bruce and Jay; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, with Rev. Eric Henderson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial with military honors, will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25th from 4 to 8 p.m.

Florence Marchetti

MERIDEN -- Florence Marchetti, 85, of 76 Butler St., wife of the late Kenneth Ives, died after a brief illness on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at MidState Medical Center.

Born in Meriden on May 27, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara Schea, Mrs. Marchetti attended Meriden schools and was employed by Eyelet Specialty, from which she retired in 1980.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Howard and Paula Ives, Donald Ives and Joel Marchetti; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Thomas Cassidy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marchetti was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Clinton and Doris Dandelski; and one brother, Henry Schea Jr.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Beatrice T. Wallace

CHESHIRE -- Beatrice T. Holton Wallace, 95, of Rumberg Road, Cheshire, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center, Meriden. She was the wife of the late Leslie W. Wallace.

Born in New Haven on June 19, 1907, daughter of the late Albert and Agnes Waterman Holton. A resident of North Haven until moving to Cheshire in 1981, she was a manager of Goodwill for over 10 years and was a member of the Cheshire Senior Center.

She was the mother of Agnes and Donald MacLellan and Jean and Perry Goodrich, all of Cheshire; Sharon and Lionel Boutin of Riverview, Fla.; and Edward G. Beach of Brewster, Mass.; also survived by 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry Evetts; and a sister, Grace Pollard.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Wednesday at noon. Interment will follow in Westville Cemetery, New Haven. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
