Florence M. Bunnell

WALLINGFORD -- Florence M. Deloge Bunnell, 84, formerly of Sunny Acres Court, Wallingford, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late William H. Bunnell.

Born in New Haven, Aug. 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Lavoine Deloge, she had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She had been employed at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford for many years. A parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, she was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Altar Society of the parish, and was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She was also a member of the Wallingford Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. and Friend W. Pond of Guilford; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Walter "Mike" Lillis of Orange Park, Fla., Edward J. Lillis of New Orleans, La., and Richard M. and Juanita Bunnell of Branford; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several devoted nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian Piazza, Leona Curcio and Delia Brockett; and three brothers, Francis Deloge, Albert Deloge, and Wilfred Deloge.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Saturday from 9 until 10:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by her nephew, Rev. Norman L. Brockett at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville, CT 06492.

Carmen J. Geriak

MERIDEN -- Carmen Juanita "Tati" Geriak, 55, of Hillwood Lane, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, after a long and painful illness in which she was courageous to the very end. She was the wife of Lewis J. "Chip" Geriak.

She was born Sept. 13, 1947 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Isabel Gomez. Mrs. Geriak worked as a social worker for the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families. She was a past Auxiliary president of the American Legion Post 45 of Meriden and was a member of the PLAV Post 189 of Meriden. Carmen was a kind and unselfish person who always put everyone ahead of herself, and for that, she will always be remembered.

Besides her husband, "Chip" of Meriden, she is survived by a son, Alfonso Johnson of Bridgeport; two daughters, Nichelle Johnson of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Yolanda Brown of Meriden; a stepson, Kenneth Geriak of Stratford; a stepdaughter, Pamela Leone of Milford; a brother, Ramon Torres of Puerto Rico; a sister, Carmen Torres of California; 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 30, at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Ernest Rogers

CLINTON -- Ernest Rogers, 84, of Lafayette Green, Clinton, formerly of Essex and Wallingford, died Wednesday, March 27, 2003, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Born in New Britain, March 21, 1919, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Axelby Rogers, he had been a Wallingford resident for many years before moving to Essex, where he resided for 15 years until moving to Clinton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Electric Division for the Town of Wallingford for many years and later at E. H. Dickinson of Essex for several years until his retirement.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rheta R. and Karl F. Meyer of Durham and Roberta S. and John Cotrone of Drakes Branch, Va.; a son, Thomas E. Rogers of Hamden; nine grandchildren, Michael, John, Kristen, Noelle, Thomas, Jason, Jordan, Carrie and Dakota; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elvira Nelson and Lillian Lapollo, both of New Britain and Corrine Adolewski of Kensington; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Grace Rogers of Higganum; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Joel Rogers.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. Interment in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown will be private.

Clifford I. Saunders

OLD SAYBROOK -- Clifford Irving Saunders, 94, died in Old Saybrook on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, where he had lived for the last 24 years, except for most of the last two years, where he lived with his granddaughter, Patricia Taylor of Mansfield Center.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Saunders Taylor of Old Saybrook; two grandchildren, Patricia Taylor of Mansfield Center and Scott Taylor of Storrs; and four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Hawkins, Timothy Taylor, Heather Hawkins and Amber Taylor.

Mr. Saunders was born and lived in Meriden, on Swain Avenue, until 1978. His first wife, Gladys, predeceased him in 1965 and his second wife, Lois Saunders, survives him, although in Gladeview Manor in Old Saybrook; his sister, Edna May Saunders Sole and brother, Charles E. Saunders Jr. also predeceased him just a few years ago. His father, Charles E. Saunders Sr. and mother, Josephine Lane Saunders spent all their married lives in Meriden. He had a long and happy life, retiring at the age of 60 from General Motors New Departure Ball Bearing Company of Bristol. He was active in his UAW union and remained committed to unionism all his life. He enjoyed fishing and his dogs, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family thank God for the long life he had with us and wish him Godspeed.

There will be a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden on Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m. from the members of the immediate family and close friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Louis Fazzio

HARTFORD -- Louis "Cheech" Fazzio, 82, of Hartford, beloved husband of 53 years of Rina (DiLoreto) Fazzio died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Hartford Hospital.

He was born July 13, 1920 in Meriden and was the son of the late James and Rose (Garafolo) Fazzio. He was retired from Dunham-Bush Co., and was a communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church and a member of the Pratolana Society.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, James Fazzio of Hartford, John Fazzio and his daughter, the loving granddaughter of Louis, Amanda Fazzio and her mother, Deena Fazzio, all of Wethersfield and Robert Fazzio of Wethersfield; five brothers, Joseph Fazzio, Frank Fazzio, Michael Fazzio, Carmen Fazzio and Albert Fazzio, all of Meriden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfeo and Anna Marie DiLoreto, Pelino and Joann DiLoreto, all of Wethersfield, Dolinka Anzelotti of Newington and Zerta Matrone of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 31, at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Hartford. Burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Sunday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert C. Majeski

MERIDEN -- Robert C. Majeski, 71, of 223 Bee St., never complained and fought hard to conquer cancer, passed away at Masonic Health Care Center, Friday, March 28, 2003. He was the husband of Joyce Arnold Majeski.

Born in Meriden, April 20, 1931, he was the son of the late William J. and Anna Lange Majeski. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He was a graduate of St. Mary School, Meriden High School, an alumnus of Bentley College and Quinnipiac College. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War. He had previously worked at Westvaco, Armstrong Rubber Co., and retired from the State of Connecticut.

Besides his wife, Joyce of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter, Michele and son-in-law, John Tarantino; three granddaughters, Lauren, Felecia and Toree Tarantino; two sisters-in-law, Maureen Majeski and Anita Crowell; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Bill Majeski.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 31, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Meriden. Burial with military honors, will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Mary School, 5 Sherman Place, Meriden, CT 06450.

Christine Bissoni

SOUTHINGTON -- Christine (Skinger) Bissoni, 56, of 132 Rustic Oak Dr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short illness on Friday March 28, 2003 at UConn Health Center. She was the wife of Thomas Bissoni Sr.

Born Aug. 26, 1946 in New Britain, daughter of the late Theodore and Harriet (Surawski) Skinger. She had been employed by First Union Bank of Plantsville where she had worked for 17 years, leaving to care for her mom and granddaughter.

Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Thomas Bissoni Jr. and his wife, Jill; a daughter, Leann Mirisola and her husband, Mark, all of Southington; a brother, Theodore (Ted) Skinger Jr., formerly of New Britain, now of Burlington; granddaughters, Sarah and Marlee Mirisola, who she loved dearly; her mother and father-in-law, Bill and Gertrude Bissoni of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews. Her love and strength inspired all of those she touched.

The funeral will be Tuesday 9AM from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington to Mary Our Queen Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling Hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of CT Inc., 920 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT. 06107

Emil M. Capone

MERIDEN -- Emil M. Capone, husband of Dorothy J. (Dangveckar) Capone, died on Friday, March 28, 2003, at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in Union City, N.J. on July 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Emil and Luetta (Elliot) Capone. He had resided in Meriden for the last 35 years, and was retired from Arlo of North Haven. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines. Mr. Capone was a member of A.A.R.P.

Besides his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by two sisters, Kathleen LaTaille of Vermont, Rosemary Russell of New Jersey; one brother, Anthony Capone and his wife, Gloriea of New Jersey; and a sister-in-law, Marge Capone of Pennsylvania . He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Alfred Capone.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 1, at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

William F. Carlson

MERIDEN -- William F. Carlson, 74, of 47 Centennial Ave., husband of Mary Lou (Siering) Carlson, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Conn. Hospice in Branford after a brief illness. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced in the Record-Journal on Monday, March 31st by the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home.

John Horvath

MERIDEN -- John Horvath, 85, husband to the late Elizabeth Horvath, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his home.

Born in Bridgeport he was the son to the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Horvath. John was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a longtime member of the Pannonia Hungarian American Club and was involved with many other Hungarian activities.

He is survived by a son, Miklos Horvath of Meriden; a sister--in-law, Barbara Beko of Sutton, Vt.; three nieces, Barbara Wendal of Stratford, Lydia Wakeman of Trumbull, and Susan Thompson of Shelton; and several nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center and 10 a.m. at St. Emery Church, Fairfield. Burial will follow at Mt. Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be directed to St. Emery Church, 838 King's Highway East, Fairfield, CT 06824.
