Bridget A. Cosgrove
WALLINGFORD — Bridget A. "Bridie" Kelly Cosgrove, 66, of High St., died unexpectedly, Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John J. Cosgrove.
Born in County Clare, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Bridget Griffin Kelly and was a Wallingford resident for 50 years. She was employed at Mary's Mane Attraction in Wallingford for several years and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.
She is survived by her beloved family, son and daughter-in-law, John K. and Ann M. Cosgrove of Wallingford; two daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary M. and James M. Gilson of Madison, Susan A. and Salvatore J. Scarpati of South Meriden and James Waldeck of Wallingford; four grandsons, who affectionately knew her as Bobby, Vincent Scarpati, Kevin Scarpati and Salvatore Scarpati Jr. and Chad Waldeck; four sisters, Tess Malone and Philomena Meade, both of Ireland, and Betty McDonaugh and Sadie Kelly, both of England; four brothers, P.J. Kelly and Michael Kelly, both of Ireland, and Thomas Kelly and James Kelly, both of England. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rita Cosgrove Waldeck and a brother, Jack Kelly.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon, from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Marilyn B. Crossley
MERIDEN — Marilyn Beierle Crossley, 69, of 65 Goodwill Ave., died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Alvin "Bud" Crossley.
Born in Meriden on Aug. 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Mae E. Borek and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. She was a member and former officer of the Independent Order of Foresters. Mrs. Crossley was also very active in the CCAG, the Connecticut Citizens Action Group, where she held many statewide titles. She was the past co-chairperson for the entire organization, chairperson of the State Energy Committee, and a member of the State Leadership Council.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jack Jerome of Indianapolis and Regina and Ralph Nocera of Meriden; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol Crossley of Meriden; six grandchildren, Edwin Ireland of Wallingford, Jason Kovach of Meriden, Rachel Tcharkovsky of Lakeland, Fla., Krystal Crossley of Meriden, Matthew Nocera of Meriden, Lauren Joyce Nocera of Meriden; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Kovach and Crystal-Lynn Tcharkovsky; two aunts, Anna Santin and Lillian Harnois, both of Meriden; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Lorraine Joyce Beierle, and her stepfather, Steven Borek.
A service will be held in the Beecher & Bennett Faltow Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Elsie Dorau
WALLINGFORD — Elsie Dorau, 82, of 39 Grieb Trail, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at home after a long illness. She was the former wife of Walter H. Dorau of Southbury. She was born in Southington, Dec. 1, 1916, a daughter of the late Clayton and Molly Mitchell Hilliard.
She had been employed as a manager and part owner of the Dorau-Calza Hairspring Company Inc. in Wallingford.
In addition to her former husband, she is survived by a son, Kit Dorau; a daughter, Virginia VanDaele, both of Wallingford; a sister, Claire Jones of Stuart, Fla.; a niece, Deborah Andersen of Clinton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 188, North Haven, CT 06473-0188 or Hospice Community Services, P.O. Box 1009, Meriden, CT 06450. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Griffin
MERIDEN — Helen Bridgett Griffin, 86, of Miller Memorial Community, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Gerald Griffin.
Born in Wallingford, Dec. 31, 1911, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Susan Rogers Bridgett and was a Hamden resident for 36 years until moving to Meriden. She was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Wallingford Country Club and the New Haven Country Club for many years. She was a member of the Hospital of St. Raphael Auxiliary, the Gaylord Hospital Auxiliary and the Spring Glenn Garden Club.
She is survived by two sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Robert) Brosnan and Mildred (Mrs. Peter) McLaughlin, both of Wallingford; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Marie (Mrs. Walter) Niland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, Wednesday, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford at 10:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity School, 11 N. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492, or to Miller Memorial Community, 360 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

Peter J. Jasinski
WALLINGFORD — Peter J. Jasinski, 82, of Church Street, Yalesville, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the Meriden Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Jean H. Gaines Jasinski.
Born in Wallingford, June 28, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph and Sophia Ewanski Jasinski and was a lifelong resident. He was employed by the former Wallace Silversmiths of Wallingford for over 40 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and was a member of the Wallingford Rod & Gun Club and the Silver City Golf Club. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter R. Jasinski of Wilmington, N.C., Robert J. Jasinski, James H. and Bessie A. Jasinski, all of Wallingford; his stepchildren, David R. Mikosz of Jupiter, Fla., and Karen J. Bogrette of Cheshire; five grandchildren, Cathy M. Tozier, Michael R. Jasinski, Jamie L. Jasinski, Christopher M. Jasinski and Timothy J. Jasinski; two sisters, Mary Gromala of Meriden and Genevieve Horvath of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Jasinski.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Christine E. Melzmuf
WALLINGFORD — Christine E. Melzmuf, 36, of 39 Hoffman Court, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at the MidState Medical Center.
Born in Middletown, Jan. 11,1962, she was the daughter of Carol Gates Pizzonia of Meriden and George Melzmuf of Wallingford. Christine graduated from Platt High School.
Besides her parents she is survived by two brothers, Robert Melzmuf of New York and Tom Melzmuf of Meriden; two stepsisters, Kathy DeNicola of Moodus and Lynn Pizzonia of Meriden; one stepbrother, Richard Pizzonia of Middletown; several nieces and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Louis F. Occhipinti
BEACON FALLS — Louis F. Occhipinti, 74, husband of Columbia (Chris) Bernardini Occhipinti, of 69 Railroad Ave., Beacon Falls, formerly of Ansonia, died Sunday at the Griffin Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Occhipinti was born on Jan. 15, 1924, in East Paterson, N.J., son of the late John and Concetta Amore Occhipinti. A resident of Beacon Falls for the past 13 years, he had been employed at Dworkin Chevrolet in Derby for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy, Valley Lodge and the Derby and Shelton Senior Centers.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian Occhipinti and his wife, Betty, of Wallingford; a daughter, Darlene Muroff of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; five brothers, George, Albert and Charles Occhipinti of Calif., Joseph Occhipinti of West Haven and Frank Occhipinti of Arkansas; three sisters, Rose Jones and Frances Occhipinti, both of Las Vegas, Mary Banick of Milpitas, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and James Occhipinti.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mount St. Peters Cemetery, Derby. There are no calling hours. The Spinelli-Malerba Funeral Home, 62 Beaver St., Ansonia, are entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Stefano Bertoldo
MERIDEN — Stefano Bertoldo, 95, of 110 Ione Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, in his home. His liturgical services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8 beginning at 9:15 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mr. Bertoldo was the husband of the late Marta Izzo Bertoldo. He had been a resident of Meriden for the past 32 years. He will be interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, Inc., 226 W. Main St., Meriden.

James H. Galvin Jr.
CALABASH, N.C. — James Henry Galvin Jr., 68, of 201 Ocean Forest Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998 at Brunswick Community Hospital. He was formerly of New Haven, Conn.
Mr. Galvin was born in New York City, a son of the late James H. and Rose Tomassi Galvin. He was preceded in death by a son, James H. Galvin III.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary K. Galvin of the home; a son, Kerry Galvin of Vernon, Conn.; two daughters, Rosemary Cameron of Thorndike, Maine, and Jeanne Erazmus of Meriden, Conn.; two stepsons, Mark Asbury of Dubuque, Iowa, and Joel Asbury of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Sally Dean of Altona, Ill. and Peggy Asbury of Moline, Ill.; a brother, Richard Caporale of Hilton Head, S.C.; and nine grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to Brunswick Senior Slammers, c/o Marshall Cutsforth, 1659 Pierce SW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cape Fear Crematory, Fayetteville, NC 28302.

Winifred A. Hobert
STONINGTON — Winifred A. Hobert, 70, of 8 Montauk Ave., died November 26, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Detroit, the daughter of Arnt and Esther Hoffman Haanes. She married Richard H. Hobert in Detroit on Dec. 27, 1952. She graduated from Centenary Junior College in 1947 with an associate degree in textbook illustration and later graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952 with a B.S. degree in dental hygiene. She was a self-employed illustrator. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of Calvary Church in Stonington, where she was on the vestry. She was former president of the Swan Hearst Chorus and former president of the Girl Scout Council.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Eric Hobert of Southington; one daughter, Karen Hobert of Los Angeles one sister, Betty Sweeney of Tyler, Texas ; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, Route 12, Gales Ferry. Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., was in charge of the arrangements. Donations in her memory may be made to either St. David's Church, Route 12, Gales Ferry, CT 06335, the Community Cancer Center of Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, 365 Montauk Ave., New London, CT 06320, or Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, P.O. Box 902, Uncasville, CT 06382.

Nannie B. Johnson
MERIDEN — Nannie B. Johnson, 76, of 55 Willow St., died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the MidState Medical Center.
She was born in Cumberland County, Va., a daughter of the late Robert and Mazie Sanderson Johnson. She moved to Middletown in 1943 and later moved to Meriden. She had worked for the LenGrace Garment Co. in Middletown and the Silver City Co. until she retired in 1984.
She is survived by several nieces, Julia and Mary Johnson of Virginia, Mazie M. Shepard of Florida, Lenora Walton, Roberta Harding, Betty, Nannie D., Louise and Lori Johnson, all of Connecticut; and Dorothy Johnson of Georgia; several nephews, Howard, Lawrence and Eugene of Virginia, Alonzo of North Carolina, Robert, Kennedy, James, Nevin and Geymon, all of Connecticut; two nephews-in-law, David Shepard of Florida and Deacon Albert Walton of Connecticut; and a host of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lawrence, Clyde and John Johnson.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Mount Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden. The Rev. Willie J. Young will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
