Theodora Brahe
WALLINGFORD — Theodora Lathrop Brahe, 88, of Ashlar Village, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center. She was the widow of Randall F. Brahe Sr.
Mrs. Brahe was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., April 27, 1910, the daughter of the late William L. and Genevieve Simmons Lathrop, and had been a resident of Garden City, N.Y., for many years. She had lived in Heritage Village, Southbury, for 10 years before moving to Wallingford in 1997.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Robert Lanham, of Hilton Head, S.C.; her son and daughter-in-law, Randall F. Brahe Jr. and Marika Brahe of New York City; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.

George M. Stanley Sr.
MERIDEN — George M. Stanley Sr., 83, of 55 Willow St., husband of Rose Merlo Stanley, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Olympus Health Care Center.
Born in Meriden, Sept. 7, 1915, he was the son of the late Harry and Esther Riley Stanley. Mr. Stanley was a lifelong Meriden resident and had attended local schools. He was employed by the Charles Parker Co., retiring in 1970, and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Mr. Stanley was a member of St. Joseph Holy Name Society and coached basketball at the Meriden Boys Club and coached midget football and Little League baseball.
Besides his wife, Rose, he is survived by six daughters, Mary Stanley, Rebecca Gwinnell, Angela Bennett, Rose Stanley, Harriet Sholtes and Sarah Dahlgren; two sons, George M. Stanley Jr. and Bruce Stanley; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Philip and Paul Stanley; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Alice I. Zipoli
MERIDEN — Alice I. Zipoli, 71, of 97 Stoddard Drive, wife of the late retired Meriden police officer, Joseph A. Zipoli, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, in the New Britain General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Meriden, Nov. 3, 1926, a daughter of the late Frank and Victoria Bergeron Olschefske, and was a lifelong resident. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She made a life of being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce J. and Donna R. Zipoli, of Southington and Randy L. and Barbara J. Zipoli, of Meriden; three grandchildren, Gina Zipoli, Lisa Zipoli, and Sister Barbara Zipoli; two step-grandchildren, Kevin A. Cyr and Jennifer Cyr; a brother, Henry Olschefske, of Meriden; three sisters, Victoria Cirillo and Helen Burr, both of Meriden, and Mary Tompkins, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends attending her funeral services should gather in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at 8:15 a.m., with a procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for her 9 a.m. Mass of Christian burial. She will be interred with her husband in St. Laurent Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mary F. Mesite
MERIDEN — Mary F. Mesite, 96, wife of the late Joseph Mesite, of 33 Cone Ave., died Friday night in the Coccomo Memorial where she had been a resident for 16 years.
She was born in Messina, Sicily, Italy, Feb. 21, 1902. A daughter of the late Antonio and Letteria Zanghi Fama, she had been a resident of Meriden most of her life. She had worked in the International Silver Co. for several years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and had been a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Louis J. and Lorraine Mesite; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Edward Freiheit, all of Meriden; five grandchildren, Linda Pasinski, Louis Mesite, Susan Benson, Donna Freiheit and Debbie Freiheit; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Thomas Dudek and Angela and Jacob Gubala, all of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Frank Fama; and four sisters, Josephine Neves, Nellie Dionizio, Margaret Carino and Grace Fama.
Her funeral services will begin with a gathering in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., on Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at 8:15 a.m., followed by her Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 a.m. She will be buried with her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday , from 5 to 8 p.m.

John E. Paul Jr.
CHESHIRE — John E. Paul Jr., 80, of Woodpond Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Eleanora (Tomasso) Paul.
Mr. Paul was born May 14, 1918, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., son of the late John E. Paul Sr. and Adelaide Newman Paul. He was a mechanic for White Motors and International Motors of West Haven, a coach driver for Chieppo Bus Co. for several years and retired in 1978. Mr. Paul was also a former employee of the Knudsen Brothers Dairy and an avid dealer of antiques.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Ronald V. Paul of Wallingford, John E. Paul III and Richard P. Paul of Branford, David M. Paul of Hopkinton, Mass., and Kevin J. Paul of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Doreen S. Paul of New Haven and Debra A. Palladino of Cheshire; and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Sheeley.
The funeral was held from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial was held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden, at 9 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Suite 104, Hamden, CT 06518.

Phylis J. Pierpont
WALLINGFORD — Phylis J. McElrath Pierpont, 82, of 595 Woodhouse Ave., died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at the Connecticut Hospice, Inc., Branford after a long illness. She was the widow of Russell R. Pierpont.
Mrs. Pierpont was born in Wallingford on Nov. 7, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Bradley McElrath. A resident of Milford, then Meriden and later Wallingford for the past 11 years. She was a Health Aid Homemaker for many years in Milford and Meriden.
She leaves sons, Richard J. Pierpont and his wife, Bonnie, of Clinton, Robert L. Pierpont and his wife, Polly, of Meriden, Raymond C. Pierpont, of New York City, New York; a daughter, Janet N. Pierpont, of Wallingford; sisters, Norma Collette of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Shirley McMinn, of Guilford; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Massaro, Barbara Batterton, Christopher, Alexis, Bridget, Jessica and Russell Pierpont Jr.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carolyn Holloway officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ct. Hospice, 61 Burban Dr., Branford, 06405 or the Wallingford VNA, 701 Center St., Wallingford, 06492.

Ruth A. Pappas
MERIDEN — Ruth Ann Dobratz Pappas, 77, of 81 Cass St., Meriden, passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at MidState Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of George Pappas.
Mrs. Pappas was born in Meriden, on Oct. 27, 1920, a daughter of the late Emil and Grace Hook Dobratz. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by New Departure Corp., and later at the Thompson Candy Co. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She was the loving mother of two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and John Adamski and Penny and Gerry Beaudry, all of Meriden. The pride and joy of her life were her three grandchildren, Heidi Adamski, Jay Adamski and Jeremy Beaudry. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Florence Dobratz of Killingworth, her sister-in-law and best friend, Maureen Dobratz of Meriden; her brother-in-law, Fred Wruck of Meriden; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Pat Pappas of Meriden, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond Dobratz Sr., James Dobratz and Warren Dobratz, and three sisters, Dorothy Pascucci, Faye Wruck and Shirley Roberts.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Parish House Building Fund, 164 Hanover St., Meriden, CT 06451.

Shawn J. Theriault
MERIDEN — Shawn J. Theriault, 31, of 1276 Hanover Ave., South Meriden, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born Jan. 26, 1967, in Meriden, he was the son of Hubert and Ruth (McNamara) Theriault of Meriden. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden and attended local schools. He was currently employed by the Litterbug Co. of Meriden.
Besides his parents, he leaves his fiancee, Patricia Dellinger of Meriden; his children, whom he was a loving and caring father to, Justin, Kyle and Brandon Theriault and Danielle Lagace, all of Meriden; two sisters, Susan Kretock and Jeannie Scarpa, both of Meriden; three nieces; one nephew; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shawn's children, c/o Patricia Dellinger, 1276 Hanover Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

Guenther Thuerling
WALLINGFORD — Guenther M. Thuerling, 80, of 257 Grieb Road, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Skyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Ursula Winckler Thuerling.
He was born in Werneuchen, Germany, Sept. 7, 1918, a son of the late Max and Margarete Mueller Thuerling. Until his retirement, he had worked at American Cyanamid for 21 years. He was a Wallingford resident for over 40 years. He was an honorary member of the Turner Society of Meriden, a member of the Hartford Liederkranz and the Wallingford Grange No. 33 for over 40 years. He started Guenther and the Happy Wanderers Band and played throughout New England for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elke Thuerling of Marathon, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sarah Thuerling, Danielle Thuerling and Kristina Aston, all of Wallingford, and John Aston of Bristol; one great-granddaughter, Kiersten Aston of Bristol. He was predeceased by a son, George M. Thuerling.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in his memory may be made to the Wallingford Grange No. 33, c/o Eunice Gilbert, 205 High Street, Wallingford, CT 06492.
